ஹிந்துமதம் தவிர மற்றவை எல்லாமே social based [ஸமூஹத்தை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டவை] என்கிறபடிதான் அவற்றின் மத வழிபாடு அமைந்திருக்கிறது. தனியாக அவனவனும் meditate பண்ணுவது (தியானிப்பது) என்பது எந்த மதத்திலும் இல்லாமலில்லை. புத்த மதத்தில் குறிப்பாக இது விசேஷ ஸ்தானம் பெற்றுத்தான் இருக்கிறது. ஆனாலுங்கூட கூட்டுப்பூஜை தவிர வீட்டுப்பூஜை என்று மற்ற மதங்களில் இல்லை. எல்லோரும் சேர்ந்து கூட்டு வழிபாடு, வர்ண-ஆச்ரமங்களால் ஏற்படும் தனித்தனி அநுஷ்டானமில்லாமல் எல்லாருக்கும் ஒரேவிதமான அநுஷ்டானங்கள் என்பவைதான் மற்ற மதங்களில் முக்யமாக இருக்கின்றன.
“மற்றவர்கள் சர்ச்சில், மசூதியில், குருத்வாராவில் கூட்டு வழிபாடு பண்ணுகிறார்களென்றால் நாமும்தானே கோயிலில் சேர்ந்து உத்ஸவாதிகள் பண்ணுகிறோம்?” என்று கேட்கலாம். வாஸ்தவந்தான். ஆனால் அவர்கள் மாஸ், நமாஸ் பண்ணுவது போலக் கோயில்களில் நாம் கூட்டுப் பிரார்த்தனை ஒன்றும் செய்வதில்லை என்பதைக் கவனிக்க வேண்டும். கோயில்கள்தான் நம் வேத பாரம்பர்யத்துக்கே backbone [முதுகெலும்பு] – ஆக இந்த நாகரித்தைக் காப்பாற்றிக் கொடுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறதென்றாலும், கோயில் மூலமாக நமக்குக் கிடைக்கிற ஈஸ்வர ப்ரஸாதத்தை இன்டிவிஜுவல் அநுஷ்டானத்தால் விருத்தி பண்ணிக் கொள்ளும்படியாகவே நம் மதம் அமைந்திருக்கிறது. – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்
Generally the forms of worship among non-Hindu religions are social based. It is not as though there is no individual meditation advocated in these religions. Meditation is accorded an important status in Buddhism. But there is no individual worship at homes like the congregational worship done at the holy Places. There are no separate rules of worship for different communities of people but a general set of rules of worship.
You may wonder why I say so when we gather together in temples to conduct festivals and processions. It is true. But it should also be noted that we do not perform Mass or Namaz in groups as people belonging to other religions do, in our temples. Temples form the backbone of our Vedic Tradition and safeguards the same. But our religion has been structured in such a way that the individual through his adherence to a certain religious discipline strengthens the Divine Blessings (Eshwara Prasadam) the temple bestows on him. – Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal
