மீனாக்ஷி என்ற பெயரிலேயே மீன் இருக்கிறது. இதனால் அவளைத்தான் கடாக்ஷத்தாலேயே ஞான தீக்ஷை தந்துவிடும் குருவாகச் சொல்லிருக்கிறார்கள். இது மத்ஸ்ய தீக்ஷை. காமாக்ஷி, பக்தனை ஸ்பரிஷித்து அவன் தலையிலே பாதத்தை வைத்து ஞானியாக்கி விடுபவள். ஞான குரு ரூபிணியாகவே அம்பாளைப் பாவித்துத் திருவடி தீக்ஷை வேண்டுகிறோம். காசியில் இருக்கும் விஷாலாக்ஷி, பக்தர்களை அனுக்ரஹ சிந்தனையோடு மனதால் நினைத்தே ஞானமளிக்கும் கமட தீக்ஷை குருவாக இருக்கிறாள். – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்
Fish is there in the word Meenakshi. (In Tamizh, Meen means Fish). That is the reason we call Meenakshi as the Guru who gives Gnana through her eyes (Nayana Deekshai). This is called as Mathsya Deekshai. Kamakshi Ambal places her holy feet in his head to give Gnana through her touch (Sparsha). We worship Ambal as Gnana Guru and ask her for Thiruvadi Deekshai (Holy Feet). Visalakshi in Kasi thinks about her devotees in her mind with abundant grace to give Gnana.
