Periyava’s emphasis on gurukulavasa was made in 1960s perhaps. This system practically doesn’t exist anymore. However, I do know few places where this is being followed. Those are absolutely selfless gurus. I have seen the vidhyarthis growing in the guru’s place and the guru’s family treating them like their own children. It is amazing to see such things today. As we started moving into cities, these kind of great practices also have faded away…Like Periyava said, we can pray for more of such selfless gurus help reviving such great traditions.
