Jaya Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara,
One of our readers, Smt. Sunitha Madhavan shared with me a few more gems after reading about Shri Silpi’s article that was published few days back. Here is what she says about her grandmother Smt. Kalyani Ammal’s experiences with Maha Periyava along with sharing some of Artist Silpis classical sketches. As we are aware, Artist Silpi used to take all his sketches to Maha Periyava and got his blessings. Here is Smt. Sunitha Madhavan’s message:

Mahaperiva Thunai,
I always wondered what an amazing artist Silpi was. Now after reading today’s post by you, I understand that Mahaperiva’s blessing turned his pencil into a chisel! My grandmother, Kalyani Ammal was a staunch devotee of Mahaperiva. She had preserved some of Silpi’s drawings in a series of articles on temple architecture in South India, published by Ananda Vikatan in the 1950s. (Eka Padha murthy, Thiruvanaikaval, Trichy.)
In the 1950s when I went with my parents to Kanchi, once Mahaperiva said to my mom ” This is Kalyani’s last birth”, just as he had told Silpi! And nearly 45 years later by which time both Maha Periyava and my mom had left this planet, in Jan 1998 on Bishma Ashtami day my grandmother attained His abode!
Ram Ram
