Sage of Kanchi

Sri Athirudram Ravi has reached lotus feet of Mahaperiyava

With deep sadness, I share the news that Sri Ravi is no more with us. Thanks to Mahaperiyavapuranam for the news and Sri Kicha for the photo. Apparently he passed away early this morning. It is very very disheartening to hear this news. Such a simple man, so devoted to Kanchi Acharyas.

As many of you know, he has been doing athirudram for the past several years and has done 25 athirudrams, jataparayanams etc. The level of authenticity and dedication in each of those events are beyond words. He has always ensured that the vaideeka-related activities and annadhanam are given highest priority in each of the events. I have reached out to all of you multiple times to support Ravi’s yearly events. Ravi has been very thankful to all support received from the blog.

For each athirudram, Ravi would request me to put the post and make it sticky so that it stays on the top for few days. I tell Ravi if that really helps as I have my own doubt. Ravi very casually responds “Maheshji, let us just do our job, ambal, swami and Mahaperiyava will take care of the rest. Don’t worry”. Instead of me giving confidence to him, he would do it to me! That was his bakthi towards Mahaperiyava!

On a personal front, he was instrumental in making the silver kavacham for Mahaperiyava padhukas for me. Also he went few times to my kula dheivam temple “Kumaramalai” near Pudukottai and helped in making silver kavacham for Sri Baladhandayuthapani swami. Every time, I go to Trichy, I always meet him Sankara Matam in TV Kovil – he will send someone to help me with swami darshanam at the temple. To me, Ravi’s loss is quite a shock.

I understand that he started his first athirudram in Kariapatti and the current athirudram is also happening in the same place turned out as his last one!

Great soul! At times, we dont know why swami takes away certain people too early in the life – Ravi is one of them.

I pray Mahaperiyava and Sri Baladhandayuthapani to bless this departed soul!

With deep regrets,

Mahesh
