“தான் அவிழ்த்துப் போட்ட துணியைத் தாயார்க்காரி தோய்க்கணும்; வயஸுக் காலத்தில் அப்பன்காரன் கடை கண்ணி ஏறி இறங்கணும்” என்று விட்டு விட்டு ஒருத்தன் ஸோஷல் ஸர்வீஸுக்கு கிளம்பணும் என்று நான் நினைத்ததேயில்லை. ஸ்வய ஸமாசாரங்களிலேயே ஒருத்தன் அதியாக ஈடுபட்டுப் பொதுக் கார்யங்களை கவனிக்காமலிருப்பதுதான் ‘ஜெனரல் ரூல்’ என்றாலும், எதிர்த்திசையில் சில பேர் அத்யாவசியமான சொந்தக் கார்யம், கடமைகளையும் விட்டு விட்டுப் பொதுக் கார்யம் என்று பறந்து கொண்டு, வீட்டு மநுஷ்யர்களுக்கு ச்ரமம் உண்டாக்கவும் கூடும் என்பதை நான் மறக்கக்கூடாது. அதனால், “சொந்தக் கார்யம் என்பதையே கவனித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தால், அலை ஓய்ந்துதான் ஸமுத்ர ஸ்நானம் என்கிற மாதிரி பொதுக் கார்யங்களை எவருமே எப்போதுமே செய்ய முடியாது” என்று நான் அட்வைஸ் பண்ணும்போதே, அதை qualify பண்ணி, “அதற்காக, அத்யாவச்யமான சொந்த வேலைகளை, அகத்து ட்யூட்டிகளை ஒருநாளும் விடக்கூடாது” என்றும் எடுத்துச் சொல்லிவிட வேண்டும். – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்
I never thought that one should cast the family burdens and one’s own responsibilities (like washing of one’s own clothes and shopping for the household) on the parents and start performing social service. I should not forget that while, generally, as a rule, people tend to be more involved in their own domestic commitments and ignore their social responsibilities, there might be a few cases in which the situation is reversed. Immersed in fulfilling the social duties, the responsibilities towards one’s own family may be ignored and the latter may suffer. This should not happen. Henceforth, while advocating the need for fulfilling one’s social duties and not wait till one’s family commitments are over to do so (it will be like waiting to take a bath in the sea till the waves have quietened), I should also stress that one’s family obligations should not be brushed aside in the process. – Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal
