“நீங்கள் ம்ருத்யுஞ்ஜய ஜப-ஹோமம் செய்ய வேண்டாம். உங்கள் வீட்டுக்கு ம்ருத்யு வரமாட்டான்; திரும்பிப்போங்கள்” (“ஆமாம், இன்னும் ஒரு நூறாண்டு அவருக்கு காரண்டி!”)

நெரூர் சதாசிவப் பிரும்மேந்திரர் அதிஷ்டானத்துக்கு, தரிசனத்துக்காகச் சென்றிருந்தார்கள், பெரியவாள். சதாசிவப் பிரும்மேந்திரரிடம், பெரியவாளுக்கு இருந்த பக்திக்கும், மரியாதைக்கும் எல்லையே காண முடியாது. பிரும்மேந்திரர் பெயரைச் சொன்னாலும், கேட்டாலும், உருகிப் போய்விடுவார்கள்,பெரியவாள்.
அதிஷ்டானத்தில், ஜபம் செய்வதற்கு உட்கார்ந்து விட்டார்கள்,பெரியவாள். அதிஷ்டான அன்பர்களும், பெரியவாளுக்குக் கைங்கரியம் செய்யும் பணியாளர்களும், சற்றுத் தொலைவுக்குப் போய் நின்று கொண்டார்கள்.
பெரியவாள், அதிஷ்டானங்களுக்குள் சென்று ஜபம் செய்வதையோ, சந்யாஸ முறைப்படி வணங்குவதையோ யாரும் பார்க்கக்கூடாது என்பது ஸ்ரீமடத்து சம்பிரதாயம்.
மானுட எல்லைகளுக்கு அப்பால் சென்று, தெய்வீகத்தின் நுழைவாயிலில் நிற்கும் அபூர்வ தருணங்கள், அவை.
இந்தக் கட்டுப்பாடு, பக்தர்களின் நலனை முன்னிட்டுத் தான் கடைப்பிடிக்கப்பட்டு வந்தது. நூறு வாட்ஸ் மின்விளக்கையே பார்த்துப் பழகிய கண்கள் எதிரில், லட்சம் வாட்ஸ் மின் ஒளியைப் பாய்ச்சினால், எப்படித் தாங்கமுடியும்?
அந்தச் சமயம் பார்த்து வெகு அவசரமாக வந்தார்.
ஓர் அன்பர் – ரங்கசாமி.
“பெரியவாளை உடனே தரிசனம் பண்ணனும். பிரசாதம் வாங்கிக்கொண்டு உடனே புறப்படணும்”. என்று, மனம் திறந்து தொண்டர்களிடம் முறையிட்டார்.
“சுவாமி, பெரியவாள், கதவை சார்த்திக்கொண்டு அதிஷ்டானத்துக்குள் ஜபம் செய்து கொண்டிருக்கா, இப்போ யாரும் அவாளைத் தரிசிக்க முடியாது. தியானம் கலைந்து பெரியவாள் தானாகவே வெளியே வந்தவுடன் முதன் முதலாக நீங்கள் தரிசனம் செய்து கொள்ளலாம்.”
வந்தவர், இலேசுபட்டவர் அல்லர்; ரொம்பவும் அமுக்கமான பேர்வழி!.
தொண்டர்களின் பேச்சைக் கேட்டு சமாதானம் அடைந்துவிட்டாற்போல, பாவனை செய்து கொண்டிருந்தார்.
தொண்டர்களின் சுதந்திரமான வாய்வீச்சு, அடக்குவாரின்றி வெள்ளமாக ஓடிக்கொண்டிருந்தது. பேச்சு வெள்ளத்தில் மூழ்கித் திளைத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள் அவர்கள். கண்ணிமைக்கும் பொழுதில், புதிதாக வந்த அன்பர் ரங்கசாமி அதிஷ்டானத்தின் கதவுகளைத் திறந்து கொண்டு, உள்ளே சென்றுவிட்டார்!
இந்தத் தடாலடித் திட்டத்தை யாரும் எதிர்பார்க்காததால் எல்லோரும் குழம்பிப் போய் நின்றார்கள்.
அந்த நேரத்தில் அதிஷ்டானத்திலிருந்து பெரியவாளின் குரல், அதுவரையில் சிஷ்யர்கள் கேட்டறியாத ஒரு கம்பீரத்வனியில் தெளிவாகக் கேட்டது.
“நீங்கள் ம்ருத்யுஞ்ஜய ஜப-ஹோமம் செய்ய வேண்டாம். உங்கள் வீட்டுக்கு ம்ருத்யு வரமாட்டான்; திரும்பிப்போங்கள்”
அன்பர் ரங்கசாமி கதவை மூடிவிட்டு, சட்டென்று வெளியே வந்தார். அணுக்கத் தொண்டர்கள் அவரை மொய்த்துக் கொண்டு விட்டார்கள். ரங்கசாமி ஒரு கதையே சொன்னார்.
அவருடைய நெருங்கிய உறவினருக்கு, திடீரென்று நெஞ்சுவலி. பரிசோதனை செய்த டாக்டர்கள், “நாற்பத்தெட்டு மணி நேரம் போனால்தான் உறுதியாக சொல்ல முடியும்” என்று சொல்லி விட்டார்கள்.
ஜோசியர், “உடனே ம்ருத்யுஞ்ஜய ஹோமம் செய்யுங்கள்” என்றார்.
உடனே போய், பெரியவாளிடம் தெரிவித்துப் பிரசாதம் வாங்கிக் கொண்டு வந்தால் நல்லது என்று ஒருவர் ஆலோசனை; வயதான மூதாட்டி ஒருவர், “பெரியவா, இதோ பக்கத்திலே, நெரூர்லே தானே இருக்கார்.
அவாகிட்ட சொல்லி விடுங்கோ அவா பார்த்துப்பா” என்று சொன்னதை எல்லோரும் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டார்கள்.
அதன்படி தான், அன்பர் ரங்கசாமி அவ்வளவு அவசரப்பட்டிருக்கிறார்.
அவருடைய அதிர்ஷ்டம் – தெய்வமே அவருக்கு அருள்வாக்குக் கூறிவிட்டது!
ரங்கசாமி வீட்டுக்குள் நுழைந்தபோது அந்த நோயாளி உறவினர், படுக்கையில் உட்கார்ந்து புன்முறுவலித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்.
“ஆமாம், இன்னும் ஒரு நூறாண்டு அவருக்கு காரண்டி!”
MRUTHYUNJAYA HOMAM
Sri Periyava: “You need not perform Mrithyunjaya Japa Homam. Mrithyu [death] will not come to your home. You may return.” [Yes, He will live for another hundred years, for sure.]

Sri Maha Periyava had gone to Nerur Sadhashiva Brahmendrar Adhishtanam [abode], for darshan. There is no limit for the devotion and respect that Maha Periyava had for Sri Sadhashiva Brahmendrar. The very mention or evoking of Sri Sadhashiva Brahmendrar’s name makes Sri Periyava melt in heart.
Sri Periyava sat down in the Adhishtanam for doing meditation. The people at the Adhishtanam and Periyava’s sevaarthis [helpers] stood at a distance.
As per the tradition of SriMatam, no one should watch Periyava doing japam in the Adhishtanam and his way of offering prayers in the Adhishtanam. Sri Periyava’s japam and prayers are the junctures where the barriers known to human beings are crossed and he transcends to utter divinity.
This strict tradition of SriMatam was followed for the greater good of people only; How can the eyes that are used to 100 watts light, withstand the power from one lakh watts light?
Just at that moment, came in a devotee – Mr. Rangasamy.
He appealed to the sevaarthis that: “I want to have immediate darshan of Sri Periyava, get prasadam from him and start immediately.”
The sevaarthis replied: “Swami, Sri Periyava is doing meditation within the closed doors of the Adhishtanam. Nobody can have his darshan now. You can be the first person to have his darshan, once Sri Periyava completes his meditation and makes himself available.”
Rangasamy was not a person to let this go lightly. He was quite adamant. He appeared to have been convinced by the response of the sevaarthis.
Meanwhile, there were no bounds to the free flow conversation among the sevaarthis and they were deeply engrossed in their conversation.
In matter of seconds, Rangasamy rushed into the Adhishtanam. Everybody outside stood perplexed upon this action.
Just at that time, the sevaarthis heard Sri Periyava in a boldened tone like never before, from the Adhishtanam. “You need not perform Mrithyunjaya Japa Homam. Mrithyu [death] will not come to your home. You may return.”
Rangasamy quickly came out of the Adhishtanam and the sevaarthis swarmed around him. He then recited a story: “Rangasamy’s close relative had suffered sudden chest pain and the doctors had informed that things can be confirmed only after forty eight hours. The astrologer had asked him to perform Mrithyunjaya Homam immediately.
A friend of Rangasamy suggested that it would be fine if Rangasamy immediately visited Sri Periyava, had his darshan and get prasadam. Another old lady also informed that, Sri Periyava was staying quite nearby in Nerur and that once we have his darshan, he will take care of everything. Accordingly, Rangasamy had come to meet Sri Periyava in all urgency.”
Finally, the luck favoured Rangasamy and Sri Periyava himself spoke to him and blessed him.
When Rangasamy reached home, his relative was up on his bed and was smiling at Rangasamy.
“Yes, He will live for another hundred years, for sure.”
