Bhagavan has said in Gita that “Parasparam Bhavayanthaha”, there should be a mutual nurturing between the cow and man. During the yielding period of the cow, the nourishment that it offers is more than what we give to it. That gratitude should always be there even after it stops yielding milk. So we should protect the cow as long as it lives. Not only for the yielding cows but also for the protection of unyielding cows too there should be an increase in the number of cow sheds, Pasu matams and Pinjrapols which are presently few in number. What we spend for this purpose is only an investment in the form of Punya and so we should come forward to donate liberally both money as well as physical help without any hesitation. The Gho Rakshana Dharma that has been embedded in this nation’s ancient culture should speak in our blood. Speaking that way it should make us get involved in cow protection with the same zeal as that of a cow which would run to feed its hungry calf. – Jagadguru Chandrasekharendra Saraswathy Swamigal

Jaya Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara,

On this very auspicious Maatu Pongal and Uttharayana Punya Kalam I’m very happy and privileged to announce that by Sri Periyava Anugraham we have started a Gosala of our own in Utthukadu village near Kanchipuram. While we have been kicking this can down the road for the past few years finally Sri Periyava has showed us a way to have a Gosala of our own. Our Sri Periyava Kainkaryam Gosala (Sage of Kanchi) is unique in a few ways, one key differentiator being welcoming severely injured cows and calves from accident. The other differentiator being keeping cows of any breed and more importantly rishabams. One may wonder that is what all Gosalas are supposed to do but in my (bitter) experiences I have seen the exact opposite. There is also another key differentiator which needs to be explained in a separate post. For now, we have more than100 cows, most of them rescued from slaughter and some rescued from road accidents.

As you see in the video clips below, this area is away from all hustle and bustle with enough grazing lands for the cows. We don’t have any separate trust or office bearers which I always believe gets into bureaucratic mode of operation. Simply put, Sri Periyava Kainkaryam Gosala is of the devotees, by the devotees and very importantly “only for the Gho Mathas”. I’m sure you all are aware that having a Gosala comes with its own challenges like food (fodder and hay), water, labor, medical check-ups, emergencies, electricity, daily operations, etc. In the coming days, I will let you know how we can all chime in and support in small ways so our Gosala can sustain and flourish. For now, let’s pray to Sri Periyava for giving us this great opportunity to serve so many voiceless jeevans who had no home as they were either ruthlessly sent to slaughter houses from where they were saved or rescued from accidents.

Gosala Address: Sri Periyava Kainkaryam Gosala, No. 40, Uthukkadu-Kuppam Road, (near UGS Palgova company), Uthukkadu Village, Walajabad Via, Kanchipuram District – 631305.

  3. Sir who is the gosala contact person and what is his contact number?

  4. With the benign grace of Periya, everything will automatically be taken care of.

  5. Great Initiative , our Gosalah also having more than 50% of the total as Rishabams . With Sai’s guidance and Shri Periyava’s anugraham this is 4th year ; seen many ups and downs and challenges of running a Gosala especially, in my case labours and concentrated feeds . Need more devotees to join us to save more n more from slaughtering, and making every Gosala started through this initiative to be made self sustain to manage its own expenses; which is nearly impossible but a combination of self and volunteers we could achieve … Thanks to Sai and team to reach a great milestone .. we are with you ..

  6. Please let me know when details have been worked out. Would like to make a small contribution. It is a moving announcement. Touched my heart
