Call for Action: A Very Important Auction Coming Up (Nov. 10) – 58 lives at Stake – Non Participants Please Consider Helping

Gho Samrakshanam (preservation of cows) is our essential duty, we should not dismiss it up as an impracticable affair and should execute it to our best, braving against all odds, even if it has a few inconveniences and practical difficulties. Actually no big trouble or loss is going to befall us while doing this. Are we not sending the unyielding cows to the slaughter houses only because we are unable to feed them any longer? It is the cow which is an embodiment of motherhood as well as Divine going to the slaughter house is the greatest trouble and loss. All other efforts undertaken to prevent this tragedy cannot be considered as a difficulty or loss. – Jagadguru Chandrasekharendra Saraswathy Swamigal

Namaskaram All,

Please see the auction notice from Chettinadu govt. farm below scheduled for Nov 10 couple of days from today. While it is a real pity and a shame that Govt. themselves are engaging in categorizing Gho Mathas as ‘Waste’ (Kazhivu in Tamizh) and selling it off what else can one say? Anyways, the lives of 58 Gho Mathas are at stake as the farm has decided they are not of use to them anymore. This notice has been published in the local daily news paper. For these kind of auctions the local slaughterhouses form a syndicate and try to buy all the cows. I’m trying to see if we can somehow sneak in and save as many cows we can. Not only cows, poor goats and pigs are also sold which is very disheartening as well.

There are several things that are going on in my head including funding, transportation, labor, where to take these 58 cows, etc; The auction date is on Nov 10 (Tuesday) and Viswanathan and myself plan to leave on Sunday night or early Monday AM to register ourselves for the auction, stay overnight to participate in the auction, buy and save as many lives as much we can, work on transportation and other logistics to transport the rescued cows to the identified place(s) which are yet to be finalized.

This auction notice was brought to Sri Periyava’s attention. HH took sometime last evening to review the entire auction notice, was surprised and asked, “Is the Govt. themselves doing this?”. He asked further details on auction and after clarifications asked me to meet HH after coming back from the auction. The plan is to talk about the Gho Matha rescue operations in detail and how well we can integrate them with Veda Patasalas. HH has provided his Paripoorna blessings for this enormous cow rescue effort. Many thanks to Shri Raghu, Sri Periyava’s Poorvashrma brother in helping get Sri Periyava’s Aseervadhams on this. We need our Acharya’s Anugraham in abundance to pull this off.

58 is not a small number by any means considering every single cow in the auction will have to be bid one by one, paid in cash get the receipt before we can even move onto the next one. Also, depending on the number of cows rescued we need to concurrently work on transportation, rope, cow feed till they reach their destination, etc.

My guess is the base price of a cow at the auction will be around Rs. 15k. Though there are many followers of this blog only a handful contribute consistently for cow rescue efforts. If we all can join hands together we can easily save all the 58 innocent lives in the auction.

Will these 58 Gho Mathas & Rishabams see the sun rise on Nov 11? It is up to us and our actions will determine whether that will happen or not.

Sri Periyava Thiruvadi Sharanam. Rama Rama

To preserve a cow is a great Punyam which offers innumerable benefits. While saying this it is difficult to avoid mentioning that there is enough proof to show that abandoning the cow is a great sin which could fetch curse too. The life of King Dileepan, an ascendant of Surya Vamsa and a great soul, has proof for both these aspects. When he visits Deva Loka, he fails to do Prathakshinam (circumambulation) to the Holy cow Kamadhenu. Due to this blunder, a curse befalls on him that he would not be blessed with issues in his life. There is always a ‘Saapa Nivruthi’ (redemption) for every curse, is it not? What is it then? Nandhini, the calf of Kamadhenu, is in the possession of Sage Vasishta who is the Kula Guru of Surya Vamsa. On the advice of Vasishta, Dileepan looks after the calf with utmost devotion, taking more care than a cow herd – bathing it, feeding it and doing all other services for it. He does everything along with his Pathni (wife) Sudhakshina. His curse gets redeemed. It’s just not that the curse got redeemed and an ordinary child was born to him but he begot a son called Raghu who was so great that the entire race was named as Raghu Vamsam after him. Also this was the basis for Bhagavan to incarnate later as Raghuraman. – Jagadguru Chandrasekharendra Saraswathy Swamigal

    • That’s a valid concern. Sri Sai Srinivasan requires an Office to respond to donors. I also understand if one gets bogged down by paper work [even if done through e-mail] it can distract him from the primary job of Gho-seva. I guess only Sri Periyavaa can show us a way in this regard.

  2. Auction suspended

    jai maha periyava
    jai gau mata
    vadae gau mataram

  3. I have added a little to the noble cause.

  4. We also have gaushala at our village with 15 cows and 5 calf’s.We also protect them from slaughter house,Most of the cows do not give any yield to us, we spent 45 to 50k per month on this.We also will support your good works.

  5. Trying to pay via paypal from the UK… found the link for US so tried contributing in $$ but when I click “donate now” nothing happens . It also says the charity will get the funds in approximately 15 days and you need the funds for this auction now . Is there a direct email address for your paypal account? Many thanks
    Saloni Belaid

  6. Dear Sai Srinivasan,
I have contributed to this cause via the ‘Zelle Quickpay’, can you please confirm the receipt, and let me know if you got it in time?

  7. Reblogged this on Vanaja Shankar and commented:
My prayers for all the cows to be saved. I think if each one of us can contribute whatever we can, it will be of great help.

  8. Have you got sufficient amount?

  9. Dear Sri Sai Srinivasan….. Great Service…. I have circulated to my contacts and also contributing for this great cause,

    Regards

  10. Cyber criminals in SBI YONO are torturing me over remittance to the
goshala. Please pray to Mahaperiva. Kamakshi.

  11. Dear Sai Srinivasan

is it possible to file a writ petition in Madras High court ( to stop the auction) with the help of BJP lawyers/Vishwa Hindu Parishad/SPCA ? Please do so urgently. Thanks for the help that you are already doing in the matter of cow protection.

    • Namaskaram Sir,

I really don’t have anytime to do this as I’m preparing for the auction in full swing. I believe anyone can file a writ petition. If you or anyone else can do it will be great. I don’t have anymore details that we all see here. Thanks. Rama Rama

      • I had paid rs 15000 for the rescue operations. Have u received it. If this money is not used for the cause can u let me know how you are planning to spend.

        Thx
        Venkat

      • God, you are generous. You have a heart of Gold. ||Sivaya Nama: Om|| Let it remain that way, Oh God.

I am told cost of each cow when auctioned is Rs.15,000/-.

The scale at which Sri Sai Sreenivasan’s cow rescue operation is going, he requires at least 1 Crore per annum.

I spend the day tweeting in support of useless people on Twitter which gives me nil revenue.

I have been begging Sri Periyavaa to get me a job so that I can contribute 90% of the salary to Veda Paatasalaa, Cow, Temple maintenance.

Ten years have gone by. He is yet to hear my prayers! I am also getting that much older!

  12. We should tell the Government to fix a price because if it is auction, some vested interests will hike the price just to make us lose big time. If they give a price, we can multiply by 58 or 106, and pay up.

Otherwise we will not know how much to pay.

    Yes?

  13. Why don’t the Government give these cows to us free of cost as we are going to take ownership for their maintenance?

  14. So sad to hear about the cow’s auction by Govt.,
It’s a High time Govt of India to run a Cow’s bank and take over the cow’s and hand over the Cow’s to temple and Mutts who can maintain and take care of the cow’s in their Ghosala is my views and a serious thought and action plan to be initiated at the earliest is my humble request to one and all to save the Cow’s and to avoid future Auction like this.
    Regards,

  15. Responsibility for calling this auction needs to be fixed. Is it within their powers to treat cows as waste? A govt run animal farm sells its animals treating them as waste when it is well known that they will be slaughtered. There is no regulation on the manner of slaughter and animals are killed in a very painful manner in full view of other animals after undergoing unimaginable physical pain till the time they are slaughtered. Butchers are known to transport them in ultra jam packed trucks without food or water and are also known to transport them after maiming them. So these hapless animals are in deep agony all the while.
Is this what should be done to them for no fault of theirs?
This is pure demonic act and we have no right to treat them as commodities. Animals are kind enough to serve us. We must give them their right to live peacefully and have their rightful retired life as well.
Profiteering by demons in human form can in no way justify their actions.
It’s really disturbing that this should also happen in our Bharata the land of Sanatana dharma and ahimsa.
Lets us all come to gether and lend our hands in whatever little way we can to give protection to as much hapless livestock as we can. So such efforts by Sai srinivasan should be supported without hesitation through monetary support first, volunteering and logistics second and though not everyone’s cup of tea get the administration to wake up and alter the policies to give give dignity and right to peaceful life to hapless livestock.

    • We have to understand one thing. As per their needs its waste. So, try to understand their purpose.

from our point of view, its gau mata. god. so, we are into different thinking. But, as per the government, usage of cow and bull for milk and seman (extracting for breeding).

      this is the basic difference.

  16. Am sure Elayatankudi Periva’s blessings too will ensure that all of them are rescued and such an advertisement from them will never crop up again in future.

  17. Due to paucity of time, I plan to contribute directly to “Dharma Sanjeevinee Bhavanam” via Net banking. Please advise whether I can continue for all future endeavors or must I contribute to “Sri Pratyaksha Charitable Trust” via Net banking.

  18. I would like to contribute. Please provide a contact name, address, phone number as soon as possible. My bank requires these to transfer money.

  19. For the second time in the past half-an-hour I have contributed my mite towards your noble effort of cow-protection. I am not boasting here. It is just a statement of fact. If it would help influence at least one more noble soul to extend his/her helping hand, to that extent I would be happy. If a retired humble Stenographer can contribute, why not others?

  20. This is very shocking to read Gohmadha’s called as ” waste” . Shri Periyava Saranam.

  21. Dear Sai Srinivasan

As soon as I saw the above post, I have sent emails to President of India, Vice President of India, BJP Chennai office, some BJP leaders of Tamil Nadu, CM’s cell of Tamil Nadu, Livestock Minister (D Jayakumar) of Tamil Nadu, Parasaran the noted lawyer, Ramakarishna Mutt Chennai and a few more people. Please consider filing a writ petition against the Proposed Government action. Can a Government consider Cows as Waste material ? Under what rules they are doing this. Where will they use the money collected through this auction.

    L.Srinivasan 95660 79862 Chennai

    • Namaste,

Well said. From our organisation Gau Raksha Dal Tamil Nadu, initiated to protect those cattle. Last time we did Hosur Action. We stopped that. Right now we are doing our level best.

Untile otherwise, if we start work with farmers, we can’t stop cow slaughter. Simply running Gau Shala not viable. Every gau shala should connect local farmers. They have to donate gau shala cows to local organic farmers and support them through the donation. Just keeping cows and maintaining won’t give result. I am following the same. I am working with farmers. Personally i am not facing much financial issues.

      Well said sir. Radhe Radhe
