The person who is standing there is Sri Pudhu Periyava’s purvashrama brother Sri Viswanathan.

This rare photo features Kulapathi Dr.Balakrishna Joshi MA PhD LT , former Headmaster of The Hindu Theological High School , Madras 1, reputed for strict Hindu sanatana dharma way of academic discipline in the 20th century and his youngest daughter (?). The picture is circa 1960s. I was his student in 1956-57 in SSLC class. Dr Joshi was awarded the best teacher award in 1964 by the then President Dr S Radhakrishnan at Rashtrapathi Bhavan.
The sage was very pleased with Sri Joshi’s erudition in English as he once is reported to have jokingly remarked that Sri Joshi’s translation of the sage’s remarks in English at a public meeting were so lauded giving the impression that the English version sounded better, for a change, than the original ! This incident was narrated in a recently recorded video by one of the Mutt’s senior followers.

Mahesh the photo that features here has a wrong caption . The person standing is not Sri Viswanathan poorvasrama brother of HH Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal. This person is Sri Joshi very ardent devotee of HH Mahaperiava, a diamond merchant who lived in Ekambateswarar Agraharam Mint Chennai. The girl is his daughter/grand daughter. Not sure.

OMG.. Periva was taking a risk on sitting over the place which seems to be an unmaintained well. Despite my mind knows that God does’nt require any support, my feeble human heart doesn’t understand this.
