The cow has utility in the field of music also. Its skin is used in making percussion instruments like Mathallam and Bherigai which are played by beating.

There is one thing to be noted carefully here. What has been said now is with regard to cows which have had a natural death on their own. “Ghohathi” – killing a cow – is a huge sin, something that should never be even dreamt of; it’s a heinous crime. Leave alone killing a cow, it is extremely sinful even to mete out a tiny trouble to it. Haven’t we discussed Gho being viewed as mother herself? Therefore ‘Ghohathi’ (cow-slaughtering) is an enormous sin, equivalent to Mathruhathi (killing one’s own mother) which is unpardonable by all means. It is to highlight this fact that the discussion about the cow began at the first place.

To milk the cow as much and as long as possible or earn monetary benefits out of its milk and once the supply of milk stops, considering it redundant to feed it any longer and to sell it to butchers or sending it to slaughter houses, is just like murdering one’s mother when she gets old and becomes unable to work anymore.
