Yesterday, while I was driving I suddenly though about Athirudram Ravi and wondering why I haven’t heard from him about his annual event he conducts for all Jayanthi. I was slightly worried if he had canceled the program due to his health etc. Today I got the invitation from Ambi on Sri Ravi’s behalf.

As you all know, Ravi’s selection of venue for each of these Mahotsvam is so unique. More than the event, I was curious to know the venue. This time they have chosen this temple and the reason is mentioned in the invitation itself. Sri Ravi & his team have been doing these mahotsvam for more than a decade now. From blog, we have been lucky enough to offer our simple contribution to them for them. Regardless, knowing how authentic and sincere Ravi conducts these events with the blessings of our acharyas, I encourage you all to offer your contribution – no matter how small it is – to the event.

With Prayers to the lotus feet of Shree Chandra Sekarendra Saraswathi Swamigal and

Shri Kanchi Acharyas, the trust  proposes to conduct

SriChandrasekarendra Saraswathi Swamigal’s 126^th Jayanthi Mahotsava with Athirudram – Sathachandi Mahayagnyam  at                       

the Holy abode of Shri Soundaryanayaki Samedha Uyyakondeswarar Temple complex alias the Mummoorthy Temple located at New Kariapatty village near Sengipatti on Trichy-Tanjore      highway. The programme commences on  20^th May 2019 and concludes on 30^thMay 2019.

With the fervent anugrahams of HH Mahaperiava, the trust has organized these AthiRudrams and Sahasrachandis at every other known Adishtanams of the revered Acharyas of Sri  Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam and other Holy places related to Kanchi Mutt . And also at Ichangudy village the venerated birth place of Mahaswamigal and at Irulneeki village, the birth place of His Holiness Sri Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal besides  the programme was also organized at SheshadriSwamigal                   Adhishtanam, Thiruvannamalai and the recent one at  Shri Jagathguru Vidyasthanam,Thiruvanaikoil.

Now we are  fortunate to arrange this programme at this sacred village   New kariapatti. While visiting the temple, one can see from a distance, a viswarupa of IYYANAR welcoming and blessing the devotees. The temple itself maintains its ancient glory with surrounding trees and earthly flooring inside the temple. The banks of the nearby pond left with their natural formation is serene and the lotus flowers give a calming effect. The road leading to the temple ends with the temple, indicating there is nothing beyond other than surrendering to the mummoorthies of the temple. At the entrance of the temple the guru peetam is consecrated from where Shri Gnanananda Giri Swamigal, Shri. Poondi Mahan and Shri. Maha Periyava bless  devotees.

This temple became more sacred due to  the visit of Sri. MahaPeriyava in 1947 , who had his snanam and Anushtanams at the Temple pond. The Living God had said that the temple theertham is more sacred than that of Kasi. He had distributed Sivapuranam books to the  devotees of the      village. Even today  the humble devotees recite  parayanams from those books during Prodoshams.

This 126^thJayanthi Mahotsavam will be held at the Holy Feet of all the three Mahans.

This AthiRudram japa and homams are to be conducted for a continuous period of 11 days,  Veda pundits participate with full dedication and focus. Specific counts of experts on each of Rig, Krishna Yajur, Shukla Yajur, Jaimani Saka Sama, Atharvana veda participate strictly following their own  discipline and anushtanams as ordained in texts. The pundits seldommoves out of the place during that time. Also a Satha Chandi Yagnyam to propitiate Goddess Devi is performed in the    morning along with the parayanam on all 11 days.

On all 11 days, starting from early morning till late night the entire environment is charged with  bhakti and devotion  with the ritwiks chanting Vedas,  volunteers organizing the day to day operations and the visitors thoroughly becoming engrossed  in every other ritual.
