Four Calves Rescued over the weekend…..

Jaya Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara,

Couple of days before this last weekend, I was passing by a home that had cows; saw two men wearing lungis talking to the cow owner pointing to the calves. Sensed something was not right and my guess was right. I met with the owner’s wife an hour later and asked what the matter was. She said they were planning to sell these calves for slaughter on Friday as they were in need of funds for conducting a marriage. Requested her to sell these innocent calves to me for which she reluctantly agreed and said she will ask her husband. Met and spoke to her husband later that day. By HIS anugraham closed the deal. These calves were transported safely to Madras Pinjrapole, Otteri as you see in the pictures below.

A small tit bit on this, I was about to take a different route and for some reason in the last minute changed my plan and went in this direction (where the cow owner home is) which enabled me see these slaughter brokers negotiating with the owner. If I had gone in another direction I would not have seen any of these at all. This goes to show how fickle our lives are and the great anugraham Bhagawan is showering on us. Let’s keep remembering this fact, keep following his upadesams as much as we can and HE will show a way.

As mentioned before, as a sathsang family we all need to contribute our little bit every month and save a few precious divine lives and fulfill Sri Periyava’s wish as below. Will keep providing transparency as much I can including sending receipts to the donors who contributed for this cause so they know which cow/calf their funds contributed in saving.

Please mention ‘Cow Rescue’ in the subject line and send a note with your name, amount to  donations@kgpfoundation.org, sripratyaksha@gmail.com for tracking purposes.

We have lost interest in this dharma under which villages had Pasumadam (shelter for cows) in earlier days. But with how much compassion the North Indians rear the cows in Pinjarapoles and Ghoshalas? Law against cow slaughter can be enacted. But if we as people do not make any proper arrangement for maintaining the unyielding and unuseful cattle for ploughing, then they will have to suffer for their livelihood. Cow protection is more than compassion and love towards other souls (Jeevakarunyam) . This is a great pooja to Goddess Lakshmi as well. –  Jagadguru SriChandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal
