Small audio on bedha buddhi on Guru, Mahaperiyava, Kamakshi etc

[What a beautiful painting! Couldn’t read the name of the artist from the photo…Hats off to him/her]

It was a long gap since I talked to Sri Ganapathy Subramanian. During my conversation, we talked about lot of things and finally he mentioned about this sloka and gave a me an explanation, which led me to go to his blog and read this article. (http://valmikiramayanam.in/?p=4822)

Thanks to Sri Ganapathy Subramanian, who has picked up this important topic, which is needed now at this time. I am seeing lot of people asking me very confused questions on how to do bakthi towards Mahaperiyava. There was a question on Facebook on “What is anusha puja? Is it something to do with shivalingam or shalagramam etc?”. Someone asked me “What do you do as Periyava prayer daily?”. Clearly, the concept that is going on in their heads is that doing bakthi to Mahaperiyava is completely a different syllabus than other deities 🙂

Ganapathy has taken a verse from Mooka Pancha Shathi and gives an outstanding explanation, which will help clarify several questions that we may have on our head.

Here is the shloka:

Personally speaking – have I stopped worshipping other devatas after I started worshipping Mahaperiyava? No – it only increased!  Do I have Mahaperiyava as my guru? Yes, of course – He is jagadguru – however, only with His blessings, I was shown a guru for my upasana. Whatever upasana I do, is happening right front of Sri Mahaperiyava on a daily basis in my puja room. Those upasanas, with His/devata blessings would lead to moksha/Him. I don’t have any confusion in my mind. There is no reason to create any cult. Like Ganapathy says, it would be our loss if we do not read various slokas and great work on various devatas that our sanatana dharma offers us.

Only Ganapathy can give such a beautiful explanation.

Our namaskaram to Kanchi Acharyas, Sri Sivan Sar, Sri Triplicane Swamigal and various gurus  who continue to guide us to moksha!

I have to call this out, unfortunately – if you do not agree with certain things, it is fine – please don’t disrespect anyone. We can all agree to disagree on certain things but still maintain certain basic level of respect for others.

  1. An incident art sringeri 34th pontiff Sri Chandrasekara Bharathi. A disciple expressed hi difficulty in doing dhayana off different roopas while doing japa of different mantras. HH said if japa is niskamya then YOU CAN DO DHYANA OF OUR GURU 33rd PONTIFF FOR ALL MANTRAS. ALL DEITIES RESIDE IN HIM

He further pointed out that in SATH BRAHMANAS DEVATAS RESIDE AS PER SASTHRAS AND EVEN IF HIS GURUS REAL GREATNESS IS IGNORED HE IS A BRAHANA UTTAMA IN UTTAMA ASHRAMA AND ALL DEVATAS DEFINITELY RESIDE IN

To clarify Iam a SRI VAISHNAVA not sringeri sishya but HH upadesha is pertinent to ALL VAIDEEKA MARGA NISTHAS

  2. “We can all agree to disagree on certain things but still maintain certain basic level of respect for others.“ Can’t agree more Sir…

  3. Wonderful explanation by Sri. Ganapathy Subramanian. Cult formation for our Mahaperiyava should be completely avoided. Also most of the upanyasakas these days are focusing only on the miracles which happened around Mahaperiyava. This should be reduced as well is what I feel. More importance should be given to propagate the teachings of Periyava instead.

Few more pramanas from Shastra on the non-difference between Ishwara and Guru.

These truths, when taught, shine forth only in that Mahatma who has supreme devotion to Ishwara and an equal degree of devotion to the Guru.
