Finally, the navarathiri celebration is over. I am sure all of you had a very divine 9 days of worship of Goddess Durga Parameshwari. Personally speaking, it was very hectic and tiring 9 days due to all additional parayanam, puja etc. Still all quite enjoyable and very satisfying navarathiri days.
When families visited our place, they brought their parents/in-laws who are visiting them from India. For them, walking into our place and seeing Mahaperiyava was the pleasant surprise for them. The moment they see Periyava they literally run towards the room as if a calf run towards its mother. For me, it was wonderful to listen to their experiences with Mahaswami – they don’t have to be very long and magical experiences – many of them are very normal ones of their parents/grand-parents taking them to Kanchipuram for Periyava darshanam and Periyava blessing them etc. All say only one thing in common “our whole life is Periyava’s pitchai” – how true!

One of the chief pleasures when like-minded devotees and their families meet is the occasion to exchange ideas, incidents and information about the sources and objects of their devotion. As Bhagavan explains in the Gita:
सततं कीर्तयन्तो मां यतन्तश्च दृढव्रताः।
नमस्यन्तश्च मां भक्त्या नित्ययुक्ता उपासते।।9.14।।
ஸததம் கீர்த்தயன்தோமாம் யதன்தஸ்ச த்ருடவ்ரதா:
நமஸ்யன் தஸ்ச மாம் பக்த்யா நித்யயுக்தா உபாஸதே .
[உறுதியான நிச்சயம் கொண்ட பக்தர்கள் இடைவிடாது என்னுடைய நாமங்களையும் குணங்களையும் கீர்த்தனம் செய்துகொண்டும், என்னைப் பெறும் முயற்சியில் ஈடுபட்டுக் கொண்டும், என்னைத் திரும்பத்திரும்ப நமஸ்கரித்துக்கொண்டும் , எப்பொழுதும் என்னுடைய த்யானத்திலேயே நிலைத்திருந்தும் வேறு ஒன்றிலும் நாட்டமில்லாத அன்புடன் என்னை வழிபடுகிறார்கள்.]
मच्चित्ता मद्गतप्राणा बोधयन्तः परस्परम्।
कथयन्तश्च मां नित्यं तुष्यन्ति च रमन्ति च।।10.9।।
மச்சித்தா மத்கதப்ராணா போதயன்த: பரஸ்பரம்
கதயன்தஸ்ச மாம் நித்யம் துஷ்யன்தி ச ரமன்தி ச.
[இடைவிடாது என்னிடமே சித்தம் வைத்தவர்களும், என்னிடமே உயிரை அர்ப்பணித்தவர்களுமான பக்தர்கள் என்னுடைய பக்தியின் விளக்கத்தின் மூலம் தங்களுக்குகுளே என்னுடைய ப்ரபாவத்தை விளக்கிக்கொண்டும், என் குணங்களையும் ப்ரபாவங்களையும் பேசிக்கொண்டும் எப்பொழுதும் மகிழ்கிறார்கள். மேலும் என்னிடமே இன்புறுகிறார்கள்.]
Srimad Bhagavatam declares:
தவ கதாம்ருதம் தப்த ஜீவனம்
கவிபிரீடிதம் கல்மஷாபஹம்
ஶ்ரவண மங்களம் ஸ்ரீமதாததம்
புவி க்ருணன்தி தே பூரிதா ஜனா: 10.31.9
தங்களுடைய கதையாகிற அமிர்தம் தாபத்தை அடைந்தவர்களுக்கு உயிர் அளிப்பது. (வ்யாஸர், ஶுகர் போன்ற ) ஞானிகளால் கொண்டாடப்பட்டது. காம கர்மங்களைப் போக்கக்கூடியது. கேட்ட மாத்திரத்தில் மங்களங்களைக் கொடுக்கக்கூடியது. ஸகல ஐஶ்வர்யத்தையும் அளிக்கக்கூடியது. இக்கதையாகிற அமிர்தத்தை யார் சொல்கிறார்களோ அல்லது அனுபவிக்கிறார்களோ அவர்களே மஹாபாக்யசாலிகள். (புண்யம் செய்தவர்கள்.)
