THEVARAM.jpg

Thevaram and Thiruvasagam are the highly worshipped work that praise Lord Shiva. Mahaperiyava considered these work as the most precious and encourage the odhuvars and encourage all artists who have sung these. Sri Pradosham mama school of bakthi is known to sing several pathigams in praise of Mahaperiyava. Kanjira Vidwan Sri Ganesh Kumar, who learnt Periyava bakthi from mama is planning to start a new initiative to teach Thevaram both for parayanam and also for singing. He intends to do this via WhatsApp – starting from Pillayar Chaturthi Sep 13th.

Those who are interested in taking advantage of this can reach out to Sri Ganesh Kumar at +91 98844 60904

Thank you Kumar for doing this.

Periyava Sharanam!

Here is his original email:

I am going to send weekly one Thevaram / Thiruvasagam to all the interested people in a chanting method, and also few Thevarams in singing method.  If possible, I will be also explaining the importance of chanting a particular Thevaram and history of the place, Swami, temple in a short and simple way.

Soon, I will be creating a broadcast list and will be sent through Whatsapp every weekends. Those who wish to receive this,  first they have to save my number in their phone and inform me through email or whatsapp.  Broadcast list is like BCC in email and will keep the privacy of their numbers and also will not be discussed in the open forum.

Any of the Sage of Kanchi members interested in this Please let me know..

In the divine service of Sri Sri Sri Maha Periyava

Ganesh Kumar

  1. Exactly similar experience. Only last week l was requesting my friend to find a teacher near Annanagar, Chennai to teach Thevaram padalgal. I have already registered and eagerly waiting for the day to begin learning. A million thanks.

  2. Just today, the name Thirugyanasambandhar came to my mind, out of the blue. I was lamenting to myself how can I learn thirupugazh with my meager knowledge of Tamizh. And lo and behold, when I opened my email now, this had article arrived and that was 1st word I read. I now know who implanted this thought and created a yearning and is now paving a path to realize to fulfill it… Periyavaa. Uruvai aruvai uladhai iladhai Maruvai malarai mani-ai oliyaay karuvai uyiraai gadhiyaay vidhiyaay GURUvai Varuvai, Arulvai Guhane!!! Namma yellorukkum Guruvai vandhavar…. innum nam vazhviley maniyaay oliyaay varaar.

  3. MY NAME MAY BE ADDED

  4. Excellant divine initiative. Big group is waiting to join.
    Tiruchitrambalam

  5. A wonderful initiative.
    Thanks for sharing the information.
    I have joined today.

  6. A good initiative if the original text is not altered. Periavah’s devotees consider him as an incarnation of Lord Shiva. But that should not make them alter the verses so as to praise Periavah.

  7. A good initiative. Thanks. Janakiraman. Nagapattinam

  8. Mahaperiyava Karunai. Wanted to share this with you. Last 3 days, me & my husband are trying to find out collection of Thevaram songs to be played in the morning hours at home & specifically for me to learn. Today am receiving this intimation about Sri Ganesh Kumar’s initiative through Periyava forum itself. What a blessing. Thanks to Sri Ganesh Kumar & Sri Mahesh for sharing this. Mahaperiyava Charanam.
