Periyava Sharanam
கட்டுரையாளர்-ஸ்ரீமடம் பாலு
புத்தகம்-காஞ்சி மகான் தரிசனம் (139)
தட்டச்சு-வரகூரான் நாராயணன்.
(ஒரு சிறு பதிவு)
நடுத்தர வயது பக்தர்.பரம்பரையாக ஸ்ரீமடத்தின் பக்தர்.
“அப்பாவை ஆஸ்பத்திரியில் சேர்த்திருக்கேன். பிரக்ஞை இல்லை.”
சிறிது நேரம் நிறுத்தி,
“பணம் ஏராளமாகச் செலவாகிறது.பணம்,பணம் என்று பிடுங்குகிறார்கள்.
தண்ணீருக்குப் (Drips) பணம்;
காற்றுக்குப் (Oxygen) பணம்;
கட்டிலுக்குப் (Bed) பணம்…”
“அப்பாவுக்கு என்ன வயசு?”–பெரியவா
“சதாபிஷேகம் ஆயிடுத்து.”—பக்தர்.
“அவரை டிஸ்சார்ஜ் பண்ணி அழைச்சிண்டு வந்து, வீட்டில் ஒரு கட்டிலில் படுக்க வை. ரொம்ப உஷ்ணமில்லாமல் கஞ்சி,பால் மாதிரியான பானங்கள் கொடு. அவர் காதிலே படுகிறாப் போல தினமும் விஷ்ணு சஹஸ்ரநாமம் சொல்லு. எல்லாருமா பகவன் நாமாவைச் சொல்லணும். சிசுருஷை பண்ணு. உனக்குப் பணச்செலவும் இல்லை.அவரும் கடைசி காலத்தை அமைதியாகக் கழிப்பார்.”
மனத் திருப்தியுடன்,பிரசாதம் பெற்றுக்கொண்டு சென்றார்.
அவர் போன பிறகு அருகிலிருந்த அடியார்களிடம்,
“இப்போதெல்லாம் யாருக்கும் தர்மம் தெரியறதில்லே. உடம்புக்குக் கொஞ்சம் அசௌகரியம் வந்தாலும், ஆஸ்பத்திரியில் சேர்த்து விடுகிறார்கள். வியாதிக்கு மருந்து வேணும்தான்.ஆனால்,’அருமருந்து’ ஒண்ணு இருக்குங்கிறது தெரிகிறதில்லே!”-என்றார்கள் பெரியவாள்

Hare Krishna. Jai Shri Radhey Krishna. Hare Krishna. At the time of birth itself a person comes into the world with a definite life time and the time of death, cause, etc. are written, but to the individual might not be knowing these facts. So, if either the patient recites or someone recites by his/her side, the patient recovers and leads a normal life if his/her life is still there. If the patient’s life is limited, recitation of Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam transits from this earth to another world without much of a difficulty (ப்ரனாவஸ்தா). I have heard from devotees of the Lord that by recitation of Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam and/or Sri Narayaneeyam, the devotee’s husband who was a cancer patient recovered and has been leading a normal life until recently. I have read about the importance of reciting Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam. But if a patient is terminally-ill, will just the recital of this Vedic hymn save life? Can someone clarify this point? Jaya Jaya Sankara, Hara Hara Sankara
First, Vishnu Sahasranamam is not a Vedic hymn. It is a slokha that was recited by Sri Bheeshmacharya in the Mahabharatha Kurukshethra battle field. Veda mantra has restrictions on when, who, where and how to chant. Sahasranama (Bhagawan’s 1000 names) chanting does not have those restrictions.
Second, we have heard many instances where devotees have chanted Sahasranama and have recovered from dire strait situations. As Sri Periyava says, our faith and sincerity plays a huge role here. In one of the incidents Periyava says people come to me for parigarams for many of their sufferings and sometimes they are relieved and sometimes they are not. However, one thing is for sure, chanting Bhagawan will certainly help is relieve or help us bear the current crisis, whatever the case may be. Hope this helps! Rama Rama
