ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ ஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவாளின் மகிமை (1-7-2012)

“மதங்களைக் கடந்தருளும் மாமுனிவர்!”

ஈரேழு புவன சக்ரவர்த்தியான ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹா பெரியவா தான் ஈஸ்வரர் என்கிற ரகசியத்தை மிகவும் சிரமப்பட்டு மறைத்து, இப்பூவுலகில் பிரம்ம மகரிஷியாம் சுகப்பிரம்மரிஷி அவர்களின் தவமேன்மையோடு நம்மிடையே எளிய திருஉருக் கொண்டு அருளுகின்றார்.

மதங்கள் என்ற பேதம் ஏதுமின்றி அவர்தம் அருள் பரவியருள்கிறது. கும்பகோணம் லட்சுமிகாந்த சர்மா எனும் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா பக்தர் இப்படியொரு அனுபவத்தைக் கூறுகிறார்.

1961 ஆம் வருட பிற்பகுதியில் கும்பகோணம் சப்ஜட்ஜ் ஆக இருந்த ஒரு இஸ்லாமியர் திரு. லட்சுமிகாந்த சர்மாவைக் கூப்பிட்டனுப்பினார். முன்பின் அறியாதவராய் இவர் சப்ஜட்ஜ் எதற்காகக் கூப்பிடுகிறார் என்ற ஆச்சர்யமும், ஆவலுமாக அவரிடம் சென்றபோது கும்பகோணத்தில் இயங்கிய சில தர்மஸ்தாபனங்கள் சீர்திருத்தும் பணிக்காக இவரை நியமனம் செய்வதாக ஜட்ஜ் சொன்னார். இவருக்குப் பொது காரியங்களில் சிரத்தையில்லாததால் அதை மறுத்துவிட்டார்.

ஜட்ஜ் இவரிடம் இதில் பங்கேற்குமாறு வாஞ்சையுடனும், கண்டிப்புடனும் கேட்டுக் கொண்டார். யோசித்துச் சொல்வதாகக் கூறிவிட்டு வந்தவர் அப்போது இளையாத்தங்குடியில் முகாமிட்டிருந்த ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளிடம் சென்று இது விஷயமாக உத்தரவிட்டருளுமாறு வேண்டினார். ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளும்படி சொல்லவே மனநிறைவோடு அப்பணியை ஏற்றார்.

கோவிந்தகுடி அப்பாக்குட்டி ஐயர் சாரீடிஸ் மற்றும் கல்யாணராமய்யர் சாரீடிஸ் என்ற ஸ்தாபனங்களின் அபிவிருத்திக்காக முழுமூச்சாக உழைத்த இவர், வேதபாடசாலை சிறப்பாக இயங்கவும் முயற்சியினை மேற்கொண்டார்.

இப்படி இருந்த சமயம் ஒரு முறை ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளை இவர் தரிசிக்கச் சென்ற போது “நீ வேதபாஷ்ய காலேஜ் ஆரம்பிக்கிறாயா? உன்னால் முடியுமா?” என்று கேட்க இவர் “பெரியவா ஆக்ஞாபித்தால் எப்பாடுபட்டாவது ஆரம்பித்துவிடுகிறேன்” என்றார்.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா முக்காலமும் உணர்ந்தவர் என்பது பின் நீதிபதி இவரைப் பார்த்தபோது “உங்கள் வேதத்தின் பொருளை வேதபாடசாலையில் பயில்பவர்கள் தெரிந்து உணர்ந்து கொண்டு படிக்கும்படி செய்ய என்ன வழி உள்ளது? எங்கள் குரானை அர்த்தமுடன் பயில்விக்க பல இடங்களில் கல்லூரிகள் உள்ளன. மாயவரம் சமீபம் நிடூர் கிராமத்தில் ஒரு அரபிக் கல்லூரி உள்ளது” என்று சொன்னதோடு விட்டு விடாமல்  அந்தக் கல்லூரிக்கு லட்சுமிகாந்த சர்மாவையும் விடாமல் அந்த கல்லூரிக்கு லட்சுமிகாந்த சர்மாவையும் அழைத்துப்போய் காட்டினார்.

“நீங்களும் உங்கள் வேதகங்களை இதுபோலவே அர்த்தத்தோடு சொல்லிக் கொடுத்து அபிவிருத்தி செய்யலாமே அதற்காக கல்லூரிகளை ஏற்படுத்த முயற்சிக்கலாமே” என்றார்.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா தன்னிடம் கேட்டுக்கொண்டது போலவே ஜட்ஜ் அவர்களும் கேட்டதில் இவருக்கு பெரிய ஆச்சர்யமாக இருந்தது. அதன்பின் திரும்பவும் ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளிடம் சென்று நீதிபதி கூறியதை சொல்லி “அப்படி வேதபாஷ்ய கல்லூரி ஆரம்பிப்பதென்றால் அதற்கு ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா வந்து துவக்கி வைக்க வேண்டும்” என்றார்.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளும் “வருகிறேன்” என்றார். மேலும் “நான் சொல்வதை சனாதனிகளோ, ஹிந்துக்களோ கேட்க மாட்டார்கள். ஆனால் நான் சொல்லாமலேயே உங்கள் ஜட்ஜ் முயற்சி எடுத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார்” என்று ஹாஸ்யமாகக் கூறினார்.

பின் ஒரு முறை ஜட்ஜ் இவரிடம் “நான் பெரியவாளைத் தரிசிக்க வரலாமா?” என்று கேட்டார். இவரும் ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளிடம் அனுமதி பெற்றுத் தரிசிக்க அழைத்துச் சென்றார். அந்த பிற்பகல் நேரத்தில் பிரளயம் போல் மழை கொட்டிக் கொண்டிருந்தது. இவர் மட்டும் முதலில் போய் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளிடம் ஜட்ஜ் வந்திருப்பதைக் கூற சென்றபோது, ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளே எழுந்து வந்து ஜட்ஜ் எங்கிருக்கிறார் என்று சைகையில் கேட்டுவிட்டு “அவரை அழைத்துவந்து பக்கத்து வீட்டில் இருக்கச் செய்” என்றார்.

இப்படிச் சொல்லி ஜட்ஜை இவர் கூப்பிடுவதற்குள் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளே அந்தக் கொட்டும் மழையில் நனைந்துக்கொண்டு சேறும், சகதியுமாக இருந்த இடத்தில் வேகமாக நடந்து தானாகவே வந்துவிட்டார்.

நீதிபதி ஸ்ரீபெரியவாள் முன் கையைக் கூப்பிக்கொண்டு நின்று கொண்டிருந்தார். ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா அவரை ஏதோ வெகு காலமாக தெரிந்தவர்போல அவர் குடும்பத்தைப் பற்றியும், சுற்றார், உறவுகள் பற்றியும் அவர்கள் அனைவரின் பெயரையும் குறிப்பிட்டபடி விசாரித்து உரையாடியபோது சர்வேஸ்வரரான ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளுக்கு மட்டுமே இப்பேற்பட்ட அதிசய செயல் சாத்யம் என்பதாக இவருக்குத் தோன்றியது.

தான் தரிசித்துக் கொண்டிருப்பது தன் அல்லாவைப் போல் சர்வ வல்லமை படைத்த ஒரு கடவுள் என்பதை அந்த அயல் மதத்தினரான நீதிபதி உணர்ந்ததால் அவர் கண்களில் நீர் மண்டியது.

பின் நீதிபதிக்கு பழங்களையும், ஒரு பட்டு மேலாடையையும் பிரசாதமாகக் கொடுத்து “நல்ல காரியங்களை செஞ்சிண்டு க்ஷேமமாய் இரு” என்று ஆசிர்வதித்தார் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா.

பிறகு ஊர் திரும்பியதும் நீதிபதியின் முயற்சியால் கும்பகோணம் டவுன் ஹைஸ்கூலில் வேதபாஷ்ய கல்லூரி துவங்கி தேதி நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்டுப் பத்திரிக்கையும் போட்டு எடுத்துக்கொண்டு ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளிடம் மறுபடியும் தரிசனம் செய்ய இவர் சென்றார்.

1963 ஆம் வருடம் டிசம்பர் மாதம் டவுன் ஹைஸ்கூலில் விழா ஆரம்பித்தது. 5000 பேர் கூடியிருந்தனர். ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா வருகைத் தருவதாக இருந்தால் கூட்டத்திற்குக் கேட்பானேன்?

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா வந்து அமர்ந்து விழாவைத் துவங்கும்படி சைகை காண்பித்ததும், இவர் சமஸ்கிருதத்திதில் வரவேற்புரை வாசித்து ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் பாதகமலங்களில் அர்ப்பணம் செய்தார்.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா இவரைக் கூப்பிட்டு அந்த சப்ஜட்ஜ் எந்த ஜாதியை சேர்ந்தவர் என்பதை கூட்டத்தினருக்குத் தெரிவித்து அறிமுகப்படுத்திச் சொன்னார். இவரும் சப்ஜட்ஜைப் பற்றி இரண்டொரு வார்த்தைகளை கூறியவுடன் “அதெல்லாம் வேண்டாம் அவர் ஜாதி என்ன என்று கூறு” என்று ஆக்ஞையிட்டார். அதற்கு இவர் தயங்கவே, ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளே கூட்டத்தினருக்கு சப்ஜட்ஜை அறிமுகம் செய்து வைத்து விழாவைத் துவக்கிவைத்தார்.

அப்போது சுமார் ஐம்பது வருடத்திற்கு முன்பு சேலம் பகுதியில் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா யாத்திரை மேற்கொண்டிருந்தபோது, ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளுக்கு ஏற்பட்ட ஒரு சம்பவத்தை அவரே திருவாய் மலர்ந்தருளினார்.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா யாத்திரைப் புரியும் போது பரிவாரங்கள் சாலை வழியாகப் போகும் போது குதிரையின் மேல் நகரா அடித்துப் போவது வழக்கமாம். இதுபோல், ஒரு மசூதி வழியாக போகும்போது மசூதி வாசலில் இப்படி நகரா அடிக்கக்கூடாதென்று குதிரையின் முனைக்கயிற்றைப் பிடித்துத் தடுத்தார்களாம். அதில் சிறு சலசலப்பு ஏற்பட்டு சிலர் மத்யஸ்தம் செய்தார்கள்.

மறுதினம் மசூதிக் குழுவை சேர்ந்த ஒருவர் மடத்து அதிகாரியிடம் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளைத் தனியாக சந்திக்க வேண்டுமென்று கேட்க மடத்து அதிகாரி முதல் நாள் சம்பவத்தை மனதில் கொண்டு அது சாத்தியமில்லை என்றும், எல்லோரும் இருக்கும்போது தான் சந்திக்கலாம் என்றும் கூறிவிட்டு இவ்விஷயத்தை ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளிடம் தெரிவித்தார்களாம்.

ஆனால் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா மறுதினம் அவரை வரச் சொல்லுமாறும், எதிர்ப்புறத்தில் ஒரு வீட்டில் அவரை சந்திப்பதாகவும், உடன் ஒருவரும் இருக்கக்கூடாதென்றும் கூறிவிட்டாராம்.

வேறு வழியின்றி ஸ்ரீமடம் அதிகாரிகளும் அதன்படியே ஏற்பாடுகளைச் செய்ய வேண்டியதாகிவிட்டதாம்.

மறுதினம் குறிப்பிட்ட நேரத்தில், குறிப்பிட்ட இடத்தில் அவரை சந்திக்கும்போது ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா வாசல் கதவைக்கூட உள்புறம் தாழ்ப்பாள் போட்டுக்கொண்டுவிட்டாராம்.

மடத்து அதிகாரிகளும் கலக்கத்துடன் வெளியே காத்திருந்தார்களாம். வந்த இஸ்லாமிய அன்பர் தன் பையிலிருந்த நீண்ட ஒரு காகித உறையை எடுத்தாராம். அதைப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்த ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா ‘என்ன?’ என்று கேட்க, அதில் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளைப் பற்றி எழுதியிருந்த சமஸ்கிருத ஸ்லோகங்கள் இருந்தனவாம். சக்கரபந்தம், நாகபந்தம், கருடபந்தம் போன்ற பல சாகித்ய மரபுகளுடன் மிகவும் அழகாக எழுதப்பட்டிருந்த ஸ்லோகங்களை அந்த இஸ்லாமியர் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளிடம் வாசித்துக் காண்பித்தாராம்.

இதைக் கேட்ட பெரியவா “இதை யார் எழுதியது? யார் சொல்லிக் கொடுத்தார்கள்? என்ன தொழில் செய்கிறீர்கள்” என்று கேட்டதற்கு, அவர் ஸ்லோகங்களைத் தானே எழுதியதாகவும், தன் தந்தை முதலான தன் பரம்பரையினர் சமஸ்கிருதத்தில் விசேஷப் பயிற்சி பெற்றவர்கள் என்றும் அவர்களிடமிருந்து கற்றுக் கொண்டதாகவும் கூறினார். அவர்கள் பல தலைமுறையாக கசாப்புக்கடை வைத்திருப்பதாகவும் கூறினாராம்.

இந்தக் கதையை ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா ஹாஸ்யமாகவும், சஸ்பென்ஸ் த்ரில்லிங்காகவும் எல்லோரும் பிரமிக்கும்படிக் கூறிவிட்டு முடிவில் நல்லொழுக்கம் பண்புள்ளவர்களுக்கு ஜாதி என்பது குறியீடாக அமைவதில்லை. எந்த ஜாதியிலும் இப்படிப்பட்ட பெருந்தகையோர் இருக்கலாம் என குறிப்பிட்டுவிட்டு அந்த சப்ஜட்ஜின் முயற்சியைப் பாராட்டி உரையாற்றினாராம்.

இது நடந்து பல வருடங்களுக்குப் பின் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா ஆந்திர பிரதேச யாத்திரையின் போது கும்பகோணம் கல்லூரியில் வேதபாஷ்யம் படிக்கும் மாணவர்களும் அங்கு போயிருந்தார்கள். அவர்களிடம் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா “உங்க வேத பாஷ்ய கல்லூரியை ஏற்படுத்தியது யார்?” என்று கேட்டுவிட்டுப் பின் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளே அந்த சப்ஜட்ஜின் பெயரைக் கூறிவிட்டு “அவர் க்ஷேமமாக இருக்க வேண்டும்” என்று சங்கல்பம் செய்துக் கொண்டே ஸ்நானம் செய்தாராம்.

இப்படி வேத பிரசாரத்துக்கும் பெரும்பணியாற்றிய அந்த இஸ்லாமியரான நீதிபதி கமாலுதீன் அவர்களை ஒருமுறை ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா ‘அவர் ஆழ்வார்கள், நாயன்மார்கள் போன்றவர்’ என்று சிலாகித்து திரு.லட்சுமிகாந்த சர்மாவிடம் பேசியதாக இவர் சம்பவத்தை முடிக்கிறார்.

இதுபோல் ஜாதி மத பேதங்களை மீறி உலகோருக்கெல்லாம் பெரும் தெய்வமாய் விளங்கும் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளெனும் ஈஸ்வரரை நாம் சரணடைந்து சகல ஐஸ்வர்யங்களையும் பெற்று, சர்வ மங்களங்களையும் அடைவோமாக.

Shri Shri Shri Mahaperiyavaal Mahimai (1-7-2012)

 “The Saint who transcends religion”

Shri Mahaperiyava, who is the avatar of Shri Adi Shankara, due to His kindness, to bless all the people, like a Sugabrahma Rishi Saint, took avatar as Shri Shri Shri Mahaperiyava, walked this earth and blessed us.

Periyava does not discriminate anyone based on their religion. Kumbakonam Lakshmikanth Sharma narrates an incident to illustrate it.

During the late part of 1961, a Muslim sub judge at Kumbakonam had called for Shri Lakshmikanth Sharma. The latter was surprised that a sub judge is calling and was wondering the reason for it. The sub judge wanted to appoint him as head of committee to oversee the activities of dharma trusts around Kumbakonam. Since Lakshmikanth was not interested in public service, he did not accept it.

But the sub judge insisted Lakshmikanth to take that post. So Lakshmikanth requested some time to think it over. He then went to meet Periyava, who was camping at Ilayathangudi at that time, and wanted to get His thoughts and permission. Since Periyava granted permission, he accepted the offer.

He not only worked hard for Govindakudi Appakutty Iyer Charities and Kalyanarama Iyer Charities, but also helped multiple Veda Patashalas. When things were going on like this, Periyava once asked him, if he can start a college for Veda Bashyam. Lakshmikanth answered that if that was Periyava’s wish, then he will surely carry it out.

He realized later that Periyava knows everything. This was when the judge asked him, “Is there a way in your Veda Patashala, to help the students learn and understand it better? There are many places for my soon to learn. There is an Arabic college in Nidur village near Mayavaram.” He did not stop there and took Lakshmikanth to those college and showed it to him also.

“You could also teach Veda in a similar way and for that you can start a college too.” the judge continued.

Lakshmikanth was surprised that the judge has said the same thing that Periyava has asked him earlier. He then went to Periyava and said that the judge had also proposed the same idea and Periyava should come and inaugurate the college.

Periyava said that he will come. He also said in a humorous way that if He had told this to Hindus or Sanathana dharma followers, then they would not have listened, but the judge had the same idea.

At one point, the judge had asked Lakshmikanth if he can come for Periyava’s darshan. He got the permission from Periyava and took the judge for darshan. It was an afternoon and the rain was pouring. Before, Lakshmikanth went inside to inform Periyava, He had already come out to ask where the judge is and called the judge inside.

But before Lakshmikanth could go back to call the judge, Periyava walked in the heavy rain, getting drenched and also stepping on the mud puddles.

The judge was standing before Periyava with his hands praying. When Periyava was talking to the judge asking about his family, relatives by mentioning their names, Lakshmikanth thought that it could be only Sarveshwaran Periyava who could do this. The judge’s eyes filled with tears as he felt Periyava to be his god Allah. Later Periyava gave some fruits and a silk shawl as prasadam and blessed him to continue all the good works that he has been doing.

After going back, with the help of judge’s efforts, Lakshmikanth was able to get a date for starting the college at the Kumbakonam High School. The invitations were printed and was taken to Periyava for His blessings.

The function started at the town high school during December 1963. Since Periyava was to attend the function there were over 5000 people who had assembled there.

When Periyava came and indicated that the function can begin, Lakshmikanth presented a welcome message in Sanskrit and offered to the lotus feet of Periyava. Periyava called him and asked him to introduce the judge and to also mention his religion. Lakshmikanth talked two lines about the judge but was not comfortable talking about his religion. So Periyava Himself introduced the judge and inaugurated the function.

At that time, Periyava also talked about an interesting incident that happened, when He was travelling near Salem fifty years ago. When Periyava used to travel, they used to play the instrument nagara (a drum). When they were passing through a mosque, some people stopped the horse, because they did not want the nagara to be played before the mosque. Due to this an altercation ensued and some people came to bring an agreement.

On the following day when a person from the Mosque’s committee came and requested to meet Periyava in person, the manager recollected the previous day event and said that he can meet Periyava only when others are also present. He also informed this to Periyava. But Periyava asked him to come the next day and also said that he will meet him in person in the house located on the opposite side of the street. The Srimatam manager could not protest and had to make the necessary arrangements.

On the next day, when Periyava went to the house, He had locked it from inside. The Srimatam employees were waiting outside nervously. The Mosque committee member removed some papers from his bag. Periyava asked what the papers were. Those papers had Sanskrit Shlokas written on Periyava. He also read aloud the beautiful shlokas from the great literature like Sakkarabandam, Nagabandam, and Garudabandam.

When Periyava heard this, He asked, “Who wrote this? Who taught you this? What is your profession?” He told that he had written the shlokas. He also mentioned that his family has been well versed in Sanskrit and his father had taught everything to him. He also mentioned that he has a mutton shop for his living.

Periyava told this entire story with a touch of humor and suspense and told that people of good intentions are found in all the religion and praised the efforts of the judge.

Many years after this incident, when Periyava was camping somewhere in Andhra Pradesh, some students from the college had come for His darshan. Periyava asked them if they knew who the founder of their college was also mentioned the judge’s name and prayed instantly for the well-being of the judge.

It was Judge Kamaluddin who had helped for Veda Pracharam and starting the college. Periyava had mentioned that the judge was like a Nayanmar or Azhwar to Shri Lakshmikanth Sharma.

If we pray to Periyava, who was the God for everyone across various religion, we will be blessed will happiness and peace.

Grace will continues to grow.
