ராம நாமம்

நம்முடைய இந்து சமயத்திலே ராமனும், கிருஷ்ணனும் பிரிக்கமுடியாத இரு வடிவங்களிலே நமக்கு அருள் பாலித்து வருகிறார்கள். ஒருவர் தட்சிணாயனம், மற்றொருவர் உத்தராயணம். ராமர் உத்தராயணத்திலே பங்குனி மாதக் கடைசியிலே சைத்ரமாச, சிரேஷ்ட மாசத்திலே அவதரித்தார். ராமன் சுக்ல பட்சத்திலே அவதரிக்கிறார். ராமன் நவமியிலே அவதரிக்கிறார். கிருஷ்ணன் அஷ்டமியிலே அவதரிக்கிறார். இப்படி ஒவ்வொரு விதம். ராமன் திரேதா யுகத்திலே, கிருஷ்ணன் த்வாபர யுகத்திலே, ஆனால் வடிவத்திலே இருவரும் நீலமேக ஸ்யாமளமாக, ஒரே வடிவத்திலே இருக்கிறார்கள்.

அங்கே ராமன் தர்மத்தை வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் நடத்திக் காட்டினார். கண்ணபிரான் தர்மத்தை தன் வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் நடத்திக் காட்டியேதாடு மாத்திரம் இல்லாமல், அவருடைய பகவத் கீதையை நமக்கு அருளிச் செய்தார். இப்படியாக ராமனுக்கும், கிருஷ்ணனுக்கும் பொருத்தம் அதிகமாக இருக்கிறது.

அங்கேயும் ராமபிரான் தனியாகச் செல்லும்போது முதன்முதலாக விஸ்வாமித்ரர் யாக ஸம்ரட்சணத்தின் போது தாடகையை முதன் முதலாக கொல்கிறார். இங்கேயும் கிருஷ்ணபகவான் பிறந்தவுடன் முதன் முதலாக பூதனையைத்தான் கொல்கிறார். இப்படி இருவருக்கும் உள்ள ஒற்றுமையைப் பார்க்கும்போது, தர்ம ஸம்ரட்சணத்துக்காக நாம் எந்த காரியத்தைச் செய்தாலும் தவறில்லை என்பதைத்தான் அவர்கள் எடுத்துக் காட்டுகிறார்கள். அந்த வகையிலே ராமனும், கிருஷ்ணணும், இருவரும் நம்முடைய வாழ்க்கைக்கு உயிர்நாடியான தீபங்கள். அதிலும் ராம நாமம் என்பது மிகவும் உன்னதமான நாமம் “ராமேதீ ராமா” மூன்று பெயருக்கும் அர்த்தம் உண்டு. “க்ருஷ்ணேதி க்ருஷ்ணா”. நம்முடைய துக்கத்தையெல்லாம் போக்கடிப்பவர் ராமன். “ராமேதி ராமா” ஆனந்தத்தை எல்லாம் அளிப்பவர் ராமன் என்று பெயர்.

தசரதர் காலம் முதல் பழங்காலம் தொட்டு எத்தனையோ பேருக்கு வாழ்க்கையிலே துனபத்தையெல்லாம் போக்கி, ஆனந்தத்தை அளித்த பரம்பொருள். அந்த பரம்பொருளின் நாமம், மஹாவிஷ்ணு குரு வடிவத்திலே இருந்து ஸ்ரீ ராமனாக தசரதகுமாரனாக அவதாரம் செய்தார். தசரதருக்கு வெகு நாட்களாக குழந்தைகள் இல்லாமல் இருந்ததனால் இந்த துன்பம் எல்லாம் நீங்குவதுடன் குழந்தை பிறந்தவுடன் என்ன பெயர் வைக்கலாம் என்று கேட்ட பொழுது துன்பங்கள் எல்லாம் நீக்கி ஆனந்தத்தை கொடுக்கக் கூடிய பெயர் ‘ராமன்’ என்ற பெயரை வைத்தார்கள். உபநிஷத்திலேயிருந்து ராமனுடைய நாமம் விளங்கி வருகிறது. தசரதர் மெய்மறந்து அந்த பெயரை வைத்தார். தசரதனுடைய குமாரனுக்கு ‘ராமன்’ என்று பெயரை வைத்தார்களே தவிர ‘ராமா ராமா’ என்பது அனாதியாக உலகம் தோன்றிய காலம் முதல் உபநிஷத்திலேயிருந்து நாமமாக உள்ளது.

ராம நாமம். ‘தாரக நாமம்’ என்று சொல்லுவார்கள். நம்முடைய துக்கங்களை எல்லாம் கடக்க வைக்கக்கூடியது ராம நாமம் என்றும் சொல்லுவார்கள். எத்தனையோ கோடிக்கணக்கான மக்களுடைய துன்பங்களை எல்லாம் கடக்கவைப்பது ராம நாமம். தசரத ராஜாவுக்கும் அவர்களுடைய குடும்பத்துக்கும் துன்பங்களை போக்கியதால் ‘ராமன்’ என்று பெயர் வைத்தார்கள். இப்படி தேவதைகளுடைய துன்பங்கள் எல்லாம் போக்கடித்தார் ஸ்ரீராமன் தாடகா ஸம்ஹாரம் மூலமாக.

ரிஷிகளுக்கு எல்லாம் வந்த துன்பதைப் போக்கடித்து ஆனந்தத்தைக் கொடுத்தார். பதினான்கு வருடம் காட்டிற்கு யாத்திரை செய்து ரிஷிகளுக்கு எல்லாம் தரிசனம் கொடுத்தார். இப்படி பல செய்கையாலும் பலருக்கும் ஆனந்தத்தைக் கொடுப்பது ‘ராம நாமம்’ இன்றைக்கும் பலருக்கும் மனதிற்கு சாந்தியை அளித்து, ஆனந்தத்தை அளிக்ககூடியது ‘ராம நாமம்’.

அப்படிப்பட்ட ‘ராம நாமத்தினுடைய’ ஜெயந்தி உத்சவம் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ராம நவமி அன்று வருகிறது. அன்றைய தினம் நாம் ஒவ்வொருவரும் ராமபிரானை மனதில் நினைத்து ராம நாமத்தை ஜெபித்து நம்முடைய வாழ்க்கையிலும் துன்பங்கள் நீங்கி இன்பம் பெருக ஸ்ரீராம் ஸ்ரீராம் என்று எல்லோரும் சொல்லவேண்டும்.

ராமனுடைய ஆட்சி காலத்திலே உலகிலே உள்ள பொருள்கள் இன்றைக்கு விலையேறி கிடந்தும் கிடைக்காத நிலையில் இருப்பது போல் அன்றைக்கு பொருள்கள் கிடைக்காத நிலையிலிருந்தும் வருந்திக்கொண்டு அத கிடைக்கவில்லை. இது கிடைக்கவில்லை அந்தப் பொருள் இல்லை என்று அழவில்லை “ராமோ ராமோ ரானமதி இராஹா மனோ கதாஹா:” ராம ராஜ்யம் உலகம் முழுவதும் ராமமே ராஜ்யம் உஷ சகி. ராமன் ராஜ்ய பரிபாலனம் பண்ணும் போது ராமா ராமா என்று சொல்லுகின்ற ஜனங்கள் அரிசியில்லை, உளந்து இல்லை, கிருஷ்ணாயில் இல்லை, கறிகாய் இல்லை என்று ஒருவரும் அழவில்லை. அப்படிப்பட்ட நிலையை நம்முடைய நாட்டில் திரும்பவும் கொண்டு வர உலகம் முழுவதும் ராமா ராமா ராமா என்று ஜபத்தை ஜபித்து நம்முடைய வாழ்க்கையில் உள்ள எல்லா துன்பங்களும் அகலுவதற்கும், மனிதனுடைய துன்பங்கள் எல்லாம் அகலுவதற்கும், நல்ல புத்தி கிடைப்பதற்கு “ஸப்கோ சன்மதி ஹே பகவான்” என்று பிரார்த்தனை செய்து எல்லோருக்கும் நல்ல புத்தி கிடைப்பதற்கு ராமபிரான் அருள்வாராக !!!

ஆபதாமபஹர்த்தாரம் தாதாரம் ஸர்வஸம்பதாம்!
லோகாபிராமம் ஸ்ரீராமம் பூயோ பூயோ நமாம்யஹம் !!

யதாவர்ணயத் கர்ணமூலேஸந்த காலே
சிவோ ராம ராமேதி ராமேதி காச்யாம்
ததேகம் பரம் தாரகப்ரஹ்மரூபம்
பஜேஹம் பஜேஹம் பஜேஹம் பஜேஹம் !!!

ஸ்ரீ ராம ராம ராமேதி ரமே ராமே மனோரமே
ஸஹஸ்ர நாம தத்துல்யம் ராம நாம வரானனே !!!

Rama Nama

In our Hindu religion Sri Rama and Sri Krishna have been blessing us in two inseparable forms. One was born in Dakshinayanam (period beginning mid July – upto mid January) and the other in Uttarayanam (period beginning mid January – upto mid July).

Sri Rama was born in Uttarayanam, at the end of Panguni / beginning of Chithirai, a special month. Sri Rama was born in Sukla Paksha ( the fortnight between Amavasya and Pournami), on the day of Navami ( the ninth day of the fortnight).

Sri Krishna was born on Ashtami (the eighth day of the fortnight).

Rama was born in the Treta yugam and Krishna in the Dwapara yugam.

Both of them are of blue colour and of the same form.

Rama ensured that he followed the path of Dharma all through his life.

Krishna not only followed the path of Dharma all through, but also blessed us with his Bhagavad Gita.

This way, there is a lot of similarity between Rama and Krishna.

There, Rama goes with Viswamitra to protect the yagna and the first being killed by him is Tataka.

Here, Krishna, immediately after his birth, kills Puthana.

When we see the similarities between them, we find that they emphasize that any task carried out for the protection of Dharma is always right.

Rama and Krishna are the lamps leading us on the right path in our lives.

Moreover, Rama Nama ( the word “Rama”) is a glorious name.

“Ramethi Rama”, “Krishneti Krishna”.

Rama is He who destroys all our sorrows. “Ramethi Rama” means “Rama who gives us all happiness”.

Rama is that ‘Supreme Being’, who, right from Dasaratha’s time, since very old times, has destroyed sorrow and brought happiness in the lives of many.

Maha Vishnu was in the form of a Guru and was born as Dasaratha’s son Rama. Dasaratha had no children for a very long time. With the birth of the child, this worry was destroyed. When asked what the child should be named, they chose the name ‘Rama’, which removes all difficulties and brings joy. Dasaratha gave his son this name in a very very joyful state of mind.

Though Dasaratha named his son ‘Rama’, this word “Rama,Rama” has been there in the Upanishads since ancient times. It is also called ‘Taraka Namam’. It is said that this name helps us tide over our difficulties. It has helped millions of people in doing so.

Since the child destroyed the worry of Dasaratha’s family, he was named Rama.

By killing Tataka, he also destroyed the worries of the Devas.

Rama destroyed the worries of the Rishis and brought them joy. He went to the forest for 14 years and there, gave darshan to many Rishis and made them happy.

Rama nama gives peace and happiness to one and all even today.

The Jayanthi Utsavam (birth celebrations) of the Rama Nama falls on Sri Rama Navami every year. On that day, each of us should meditate on Rama and chant Sri Rama, Sri Rama. This will ensure that all our worries are destroyed and our lives will be filled with happiness.

During Rama’s reign, the people were not worried about whether something was available or not ( they were contended with whatever they had).

“ramo ramo ranamathi iraha mano gataha” I

If Rama Rajyam is established in the world, it would be a period of happiness.

When Rama ruled his kingdom, his subjects kept chanting ‘Rama, Rama’, because of which they never faced any scarcity, be it for food, fuel or other things. May Sri Rama bless us to establish such a situation in our country (a situation of contentment), to chant Rama, Rama,Rama and get rid of our sorrows and worries, to pray ‘ sabko sanmati de bhagwan’ and obtain good intellect.

आपदामपहर्थारम् दातारम् सर्व सम्पदाम् I

लोकाभिरामम् श्रीरामम् भूयोभूयो नमाम्यहम् II

Aapadaamapahartaaram daataaram sarva sampadaam I

Lokaabhiraamam sriraamam bhuyo bhuyo namamyaham II
