அத்வைத அன்பிதயம்

இப்போ… ஒங்களுக்கு எதிர்லதான… ஒரு வயஸான பெரியவர் எனக்கு நமஸ்காரம் பண்ணினார்? அவருக்கு என்ன வயஸிருக்கும்?..”

“நிச்சியமாக எம்பதுக்கு மேல இருக்கும். அவரை ரெண்டு பேர் பிடித்துக் கொண்டுதானே வந்தார்கள்?..”

“எனக்கென்ன வயஸு?..”

“ரொம்ப சிறு வயதுதான்! நிச்சயமாக! ”

“அப்போ, அவ்ளோவ் பெரியவர்! எனக்கெதுக்கு நமஸ்காரம் பண்றார்? அவர் என்னோட வயஸுக்கு மர்யாதை தரல…! நா…. இருக்கற எடத்துக்கு! அதாவுது, பீடத்துக்கு, மடாதிபதி ஸ்தானத்துக்குத்தான் மர்யாதை குடுக்கறார்! ஆக, இங்க மடாதிபதியா யார் இருக்காளோ, அவாதான் கையெழுத்து போடணுமே தவிர, அவர்… இன்ன வயஸ்-ல இருக்கணும்-ங்கற ஸம்ப்ரதாயம், இங்க பொருந்தாது! புரிஞ்சுதா?…”

“புரிந்து கொண்டேன்…! வயதை வைத்து கிடையாது. ஸ்தானத்தை வைத்துத்தான், இங்குள்ள ஸம்ப்ரதாயம்.. என்பதை நன்றாகப் புரிந்து கொண்டேன். நான் புரிந்து கொண்டதை எங்கள் மேலிடத்துக்கு எழுதி, explain பண்ணி, preview council-ல், permission வாங்கி விடுகிறேன்”

“எங்க சந்த்ரமௌலீஶ்வரருக்கு வயஸே கெடையாது. எனக்கு உரிய வயஸு ஆறவரைக்கும், அவரோட பேரால, கையெழுத்து போடறதுல…. ஒங்களுக்கு ஒண்ணும் ஆக்ஷேபணை இருக்காதோல்லியோ? நீங்க லண்டனுக்கு எழுதி, அவா புரிஞ்சுக்காம, கேள்வி மேல கேள்வி கேட்டு, ஒங்களுக்கும் தொந்தரவு தராம இருக்கறதுக்கு இதுதான் வழி….”

அழகாக உதாரணம் காட்டி, கையெழுத்து ஸமாசாரத்துக்கு அதோடு ஒரு முற்றுப்புள்ளி வைத்தார்.

ஆனால் தொன்றுதொட்டு வரும் வழக்கப்படி, பெரியவா எந்த தஸ்தாவேஜுகளிலும் கையெழுத்து போட்டது கிடையாது.

ஸ்ரீமுக முத்ரையே உபயோஹப்படுத்தப்பட்டது.

பின்னாளில், ப்ரஸிடெண்ட், கலெக்டர், போன்றவர்கள் போல் இல்லாமல், ஒரு மஹா VIP-க்காக, புது மாதிரி கையெழுத்துப் போட்டு கொடுத்தார்…. நம் பெரியவா!

ஸ்ரீமடத்தில் பெரியவா அமர்ந்து தர்ஶனம் தந்து கொண்டிருந்தார்.

அப்போது ஒரு குட்டிப்பையன், ஒரு குட்டி notebook -ஐ எடுத்துக்கொண்டு வந்தான்.

“உம்மாச்சி தாத்தா..! ஒங்களோட கையெழுத்தைப் போட்டுக் குடுங்கோளேன், please…. தாத்தா…”

யாரிடம் என்ன கேட்கிறோம் என்று அறியாத innocent வயஸு!

பெரியவாளோ…. பதிமூன்று வயஸில் துறவறம் பூண்ட பின், எதிலுமே கையெழுத்திடுவதில்லை! என்று ஜென்ம வ்ரதம் பூண்டவராச்சே!

“நா… ஸ்வாமிகள் ஆனதுக்கப்புறம் கையெழுத்தெல்லாம் போடறதில்லியேடா.. கொழந்த!”

குழந்தைகளின் ஒரே அஸ்த்ர ப்ரயோஹமாக, அழுதே விட்டான்!

Divine தாத்தா… அவனை ஸமாதானப்படுத்த ஒரு வழி செய்தார்…….

” இரு இரு அழாத! ஒனக்கென்ன கையெழுத்துதான வேணும்?…”

“ஒங்களோட கையெழுத்து!…” ….

90% அழுகையை நிறுத்திவிட்டு, ஆனாலும் கொஞ்சம் கறாராக, அவருடைய வாக்யத்தில் “ஒங்களோட!” என்று சேர்த்தான்.

பெரியவாளுக்கு சிரிப்பு வந்துவிட்டது!

“இரு… இப்போ, இதுவரைக்கும் யாருமே போடாத மாதிரி ஒனக்கு எப்படி முத்ரை குத்தி, autograph போட்டு தரப்போறேன் பாரு”

பாலகனின் விழிகள் வியப்பில் விரிந்தன.

“நெஜம்…மாவா தாத்தா!..”

“நெஜம்மாத்தான் பாரு!”

ஸ்ரீமடம் ஏஜென்ட்டை அழைத்தார்.

“இவனோட இந்த notebook-ல, எம்பேரை எழுது.! ஒன்னோட கையெழுத்தையும் அதுக்கு கீழ போடு! அதோட, நம்ம மடத்து seal-லையும் குத்தி எடுத்துண்டு வா!”

கொஞ்ச நேரத்தில், ஏகப்பட்ட ஸாங்கியங்கள் செய்யப்பட்டு, நம் பெரியவாளின் “Autograph!!” அந்த பையனின் குஞ்சு கைகளுக்கு போனதும், அந்த சிறுவனுக்கு ஏக ஆனந்தம்! நாட்டியமாடாத குறைதான்!

“உம்மாச்சி தாத்தா எனக்கு கையெழுத்து போட்ருக்காளே!…”

ஒரே ஸந்தோஷக் கூவல்தான்!

இப்போது, அவன் குதித்தே ஆடும்படி இன்னும் பெருஸ்ஸாக ஒன்றைச் செய்தார்.

“இங்க வா! இப்போ…. நீ கேட்டேன்னு…. ஒனக்காக நா…. special-லா கையெழுத்து போட்டேனோல்லியோ? பதிலுக்கு நீயும் எனக்கு ஒன்னோட autograph போட்டு குடுக்கணும்.”

“ஓ எஸ்! போடறேனே தாத்தா!..”

“இந்த மாமாவோட [agent] போயி, visitors book-ன்னு அங்க office-ல வெச்சிருப்பார்..! அதுல ஒன்னோட கையெழுத்தை போட்டுட்டு, ஆத்துக்கு போய்ச் சேரு..!”

ஸ்ரீமடம் கார்யஸ்தருடன், கூட நடக்காமல், துள்ளிக்கொண்டு ஓடினான்….. அந்த குட்டி VIP !

ஸ்ரீ காஞ்சி காமகோடி மஹாமடத்தின் வி.ஐ.பி விஸிட்டர்களில், அந்த குட்டி வாண்டு பையனுக்கு இடமளித்தது அந்த…. “அத்வைத அன்பிதயம்”.

“Now, in front of you, an elderly man prostrated me. How old would he be?” asked Periyavaa.

“How old am I?”

“Surely You are much younger!”

“So, he was a very elderly man! Why did he prostrate me? It was not respect for my age! It’s due to the position I am in. That is, for the Peetam and the respect is for the Head of the Matam (Mataathipathi) position. So, the person who is in this position has the signing authority and the Sampradaya doesn’t dictate that he must be of this age and all! Did you understand?”

“Understood. I understood well that the Sampradaya here is based on the position and not on the age. I will also write this to my superiors and explain this to get the permission from the Preview Council”

“Our Chandramowlishwarar beyond ages. So, till I attain the legal age, I will be signing on behalf, using his name and I hope you would have any objection. This is the only way to avoid them disturbing you with repeated questions to you when you write to London”

Periyavaa explained it with a beautiful example and resolved the signature issue.

But based on long standing traditions, Periyavaa never signed any documents. Only SriMukam seal was used for all official purposes.

In later days, our Periyavaa gave his signature for a person who was a great VIP greater than Presidents and Collectors.

Periyavaa was then in SriMatam blessing devotees. At that time, a small boy, came running with a small note in hand. He came to Periyavaa and asked “Ummachi Thatha, give me your signature, please Thatha”. He was such a small innocent boy who was not aware of whom to ask what.

Periyavaa, after taking Sanyasa at the age of 13, had taken a vow not to sign in anything. “After becoming a Swami, I do not sign in anything child” Periyavaa answered kindly to the boy.

That boy used children’s only weapon and cried immediately.

Divine Thatha used a method to console him.

“Wait wait. Don’t cry! You want signature right?”

“Your Signature” said the boy after stopping his cry 90%, firmly adding the word “Your” to His sentence.

Periyavaa laughed!

“Wait… I will now place a seal and give you my autograph in a way which I have not given to anyone else”

The boy’s eyes widened in surprise.

“Is it true Thatha”?

“True – See now”

Periyavaa called the SriMatam agent.

“Write my name in this boy’s notebook. Put your signature below it. Also seal it with our Matam seal and bring it to me”

In a short time, all this was completed and when the note went back to boy he was so happy and short of dancing in joy!

He was shouting happily as “Ummachi Thatha has signed for me”. Now Periyavaa did something which actually made him jump with joy.

“Come here! I specially signed for you when you asked right? In return, you should also give me your autograph”

“Oh yes! I will Thatha”

“Go with this uncle (SriMatam Agent) and he will have a book in his office called ‘Visitors book’. Sign in that book and go home”

The kid VIP almost ran along with the SriMatam employee filled with happiness. Kanchi Maha Periyavaa, the “Adhwaitha Anbidayam” gave place for a small kid among the VIP visitors!
