குலாசாரம், தேசாசாரம் என்று நமக்குத் தெரிந்து அநேக தலைமுறைகளாக வந்திருப்பவை மூல சாஸ்திரங்களுக்குக் கொஞ்சம் வித்யாஸமாகப் போகிற இடங்களில் கூட அவற்றின் வழியிலேயே நாமும் போவதில் தப்பில்லை என்று நான் சொன்னாலும், இப்போது ரொம்பவும் சாஸ்திரக்ஞர்களாக இருக்கப்பட்ட சிலபேர், “ஸித்தாந்தம், அதை வைத்து உண்டான ஆத்மார்த்தமான அநுஷ்டானங்கள், சின்னங்கள் ஆகியவற்றில் குலாசாரப்படியே பண்ண வேண்டுமென்றாலும், இவ்வளவு ஆத்மார்த்தமாக இல்லாத விஷயங்களுக்காக தேசாசாரம், குலாசாரம் என்ற பெயர்களில் ஆதி வைதிகாசாரத்துக்கு வித்யாஸமாகப் போவது ஸரியில்லைதான். மூலத்தைத் தான் ஸ்ட்ரிக்டாக ஃபாலோ பண்ணணும்” என்று தைரியமாக ஆரம்பித்திருக்கிறார்கள். அவர்கள் சொல்கிறதிலும் ஸாரம் இல்லாமலில்லை. தேசாசாரம், குலாசாரம் முதலியவற்றைப் பற்றிச் சற்றுமுன் நான் சொன்னதற்கு ஒரு sub-clause போட்டால் தேவலையென்று இப்போது தோன்றுகிறது: அதாவது, ஒரு ஸித்தாந்தத்தோடு சேராமலே மூல சாஸ்திரத்துக்கு மிகவும் வித்யாஸப் பட்டிருக்கிற சில பழக்கங்கள் பல தலைமுறைகளாகவே ஏதோ காரணங்களுக்காக ஒரு ஸம்பிரதாயமாக வளர்ந்து வந்திருந்தால்கூட இவற்றை ஒரிஜனல் சாஸ்திரப் பிரகாரமே திருத்தினால்தான் தேவலை என்று தோன்றுகிறது – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகள்

I mentioned that it is not wrong to follow the tradition of the family or the region even if they are different from the original rules since they have been followed over many generations. But many people who strictly follow the sastras have now started boldly expressing this view: ‘One has to follow the siddhantas, the anushtanas for self improvement and the symbols worn in accordance with the family traditions. In other aspects, where the rules are against the original sastras, one should get back to following the original’. What they say is also true.
