அதிதிக்குப் போடாமல் சாப்பிடக் கூடாது; வாசலில் நின்று கொண்டு தெருக்கோடி வரையில் யாராவது வெளி மநுஷ்யர்கள் சாப்பாட்டுக்கு வருவார்களா என்று பார்த்து விட்டுத்தான் போஜனம் பண்ண உட்கார வேண்டும்.

One should not eat without feeding a guest.  A householder should stand at the entrance of his door to see till the end of his street whether any outsider is coming for food and only then sit down to eat his food. There are two types of guests – Athithi and Abhyaaakadar. The former is a stranger to us and has come on his own. The latter is known to us and has come on our invitation. Both should be fed. In this case, humanitarian principle has found a place in Aacharam.
