Benediction from Sri Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam

In this land of Bharatha every spec and dust is considered sacred.  Rivers, mountains and all natural aspects are  considered Divine. All rivers are worshipped as Deities which bestow Heavenly Bliss  (to the devotee).  Rivers like Ganges have been praised even in the Vedas. In the same way River Kaveri has been praised as a very holy river in the Vedas and Puranas.  If we say that Kaveri which is also known by the names Sahyaja, Marutvritha and several other names, is a great blessing to the state of Tamilnadu, it will not be an exaggeration. There are several temples dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu on the banks of River Kaveri and the flow of Kaveri, (along these temples) appears like a garland made of flowers and is a beautiful sight to watch.

The Glory of Kaveri cannot be described even with the help of  Puranas and other Historical texts. Here it is relevant to note that the Bhagawatha-Puranam in one of its Shlokas (Kaamakoti-Pureem-Kaanchim-Kavereem-cha-Sarithwaraam) relates Kaveri with Kanchi. In the Kanchi-Matam it is a regular practice to recite the Glory-of-Kaveri in the Kaveri-Mahatmyam from the Agneya-Puranam, during the month of Thulam (Sep-Oct).

The Pushkaram to be held in this year of ‘Hevilambi’  for this Glorious Kaveri River is a Great Blessing indeed to the entire mankind. ‘Pushkarara’ who is the king of all rivers, unites with the Deva-Guru (Jupiter) and comes to bless us all with happiness in this world and after.

On the occasion of this glorious Kaveri-Pushkaram, we are immensely happy to note that the Festive-Committee is releasing a Special Souvenir. We Bless that with the Benevolent Grace of Sri Maha-Thripura-Sundari and Sri Chandra-Mowleeswara, may all devotees taking part in this Holy Festival attain Material Happiness and Divine Bliss and may the members of the festival-committee attain all auspiciousness.

  • Narayana Smritihi.
