வெளியூர்களுக்குப் போகிறபோது எல்லா ஆசாரங்களையும் அநுஷ்டிக்க முடியாவிட்டாலும், முடிந்த மட்டும் பண்ணுவதே போதும் என்று யாத்ரா தர்மத்தில் இருக்கிறது. ஸ்வக்ஷேத்ரத்தில் [தன் ஊரில்] ஸ்வக்ருஹத்தில் [சொந்த வீட்டில்] அத்தனை ஆசாரங்களையும் பின்பற்றத்தான் வேண்டுமென்றாலும், வெளியூரில் அவற்றில் பாதி பண்ணினாலும் போதுமானது என்றுகூட இருக்கிறது. செங்கல்பட்டில் வீடு, மெட்றாஸில் ஆஃபீஸ்; இல்லாவிட்டால் எப்போதும் டூரில் போகிற வேலை என்று இருக்கும் இக்காலத்தில் இம்மாதிரி ‘லீனியன்ட் ரூல்’களைச் சொல்வதற்கே பயமாயிருக்கிறது! இருக்கிற ஆசாரத்தையும் ஜனங்கள் விட்டு விடுவதற்கு நானே வழி சொல்லிக் கொடுத்த மாதிரி ஆகிவிடக் கூடாதே! யாத்திரையையும், வெளியூர் வாஸத்தையும் சாஸ்திரம் நினைத்தது உத்யோக நிமித்தமாக, உதர நிமித்தமாக அல்ல. ஏதோ க்ஷேத்ராடனம், அல்லது ஒரு கல்யாணம், இல்லாவிட்டால் பந்துக்களின் மரணம் இம்மாதிரி காரணத்துக்காக எப்போதாவது பிரயாணம் பண்ணுவதைத்தான் சாஸ்திரக்காரகர்கள் நினைத்தார்களே தவிர ஜீவனோபாயத்துக்காக நித்யப்படி யாத்திரை செய்வதையல்ல. – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள் மொழிகள்

Yathra dharmam states that when one is travelling, one is permitted to follow those Aacharams which are possible. When one is not in one’s place or one’s home, (where one is supposed to follow the Aacharams completely) it is even said that it is enough if one follows fifty percent of the Aacharams one is supposed to. But in these days when the distance between the residence and the work place is distant and people are on jobs which require constant touring, one is afraid to mention these lenient rules. I should not pave the way for people to give up even the Aacharams they are following. Sastras were not dealing with employment exigencies when talking about travel and life at a foreign place.
