Jaya Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara – We have heard many incidents about our Periyava doing japam in Gosalas or cow sheds often including a historic meeting with Mahathma Gandhiji at a Cowshed in Nellichery. However we have not seen pictures of those (I can hardly recall seeing one or two). On this very auspicious Maha Punniya Kaalam (124th Maha Periyava Jayanthi) let’s savor this rare sketch from Smt. Sowmya visually depicting how Periyava would have performed the japam at the most auspicious place. Periyava’s thapas and Gho Mathas innocence has been beautifully captured. People who live in Bharatha Desam have the opportunity of visiting a nearby Ghosala and feed Gho Mathas as well as do Bhagawan Nama Japam on this Maha Jayanthi day. The cow which protects the yajnas by giving the important materials needed for the same has the power to protect the efficacy of the manthras by its mere presence. That is why it is said that doing Japam inside a cow shed yields crores of times the benefit that normally accrues.
