I have three more postings pending from my India trip including this one.
Ganapathy is known to our forum as one of the disciples of HH Govinda Damodara Swamigal a.k.a HH Triplicane Periyava, Sri Sivan Sar and Ramayanam & Mooka panchasathi devotee. His messaging style is very unique – very gentle, powerful, no dramatic exaggerations and keeping it simple. We got introduced to each other probably an year back and have been in communication often but never had a chance to meet.
During my recent trip, I had a good opportunity to meet the face behind that soft voice we all heard in his audio. A very simple man – man of few words on loukeeka matters and man of lots of words when it comes to Ramayanam, ambal, Mooka Panchasathi and Mahaperiyava!! We had a good discussion for some time. Since Ganapathy is also in the IT industry, it is easier to jump topics between IT & spirituality. I don’t know what triggered him – suddenly he pulled out mooka panchasathi book and read 10-15 slokas slowly and also gave the meaning. I felt very blessed – that was the first time I am hearing mooka panchasathi in my life! I was quite impressed with his personality – simple, honest, humble, very contented in life, avoids popularity, stays away from politics etc – wants to stay focused on the spiritual growth as directed by his guru.
He has been doing a great job in delivering great materials/lectures on topics and he beautifully relates with Mahaperiyava in almost all of them. I suggested on why he can’t consider doing similar lectures in outside events. He is definitely looking for right opportunity. As we know that just chanting mooka panchasathi itself will remove so many problems in life, he is also contemplating doing mooka panchasathi parayanam in devotees’ houses by invitation. Not sure when he would actually start to do that….I found that a great idea! I am taking the liberty in writing this – if anyone wants to do a mooka panchasathi parayanam or a lecture on Mahaperiyava/Sar etc on anusham kind of auspicious days, I guess we could contact him.
If all goes well, he will be seen behind a mic on a stage soon. As we know, he is more than ready to step-up the game! Let us wish him all the bests and hoping to see more of his audios/articles on Mahaperiyava and other Mahans.

அதையேதான் நானும் சொல்கிறேன்…ராமாயணம்..அந்த நிகழ்வுகளை ஒட்டி,மஹாபெரியவா,சிவன்சார்,பழூர் சுவாமி ஆகியோர் சொன்னது…மற்ற ஸ்தோத்திரங்களில் உள்ள ரெலெவென்ட் சுலோகம்.இதை சொல்வது..இது mere போஸ்ட்மேன் வேலைதான்.முன்பே எழுதப்பட்ட கடிதத்தைத்தான் போஸ்ட்மேன் தரமுடியும்..அவராக அதில் எதுவும் எழுத இயலாது. எனவே தொடர்ந்து எழுதுங்கள்.மஹாபெரியாவாள் உட்பட யாரிடம் பிரார்த்தனை செய்தாலும் நம் கர்மா தீரும்போது அருள்தானாக வரும்.சிலநேரம் அந்த “அவ்யாஜ கருணாமூர்த்திகள்” நமகர்மாக்களை உடன் தீர்த்து வைப்பார்.வேண்டியதும் உடன் நடக்க இது மோடிமஸ்தான் வேலை அல்ல .நமது பிறப்பு,தாய் தந்தையர்,குலம்,மொழி இது எதையும் நாம் தேர்ந்து எடுப்பது அல்ல. வேதம் ஓதும் குலத்தில் பிறந்து விட்டோம். வேறு வழி இல்லை..லௌகீகமாய் வாழ்ந்தாலும்,..ஒரு கட்டத்தில்,..வேத சம்ரக்ஷணம்,கோசம்ரக்ஷணம்,நித்யகர்மாநுஷ்டானம்,முடிந்தவரை ஆச்சாரம்..இதுதவிர சாதாரண சாமானிய தர்மம்..கடைபிடித்தால் போதும்.இப்போ உள்ள தொழில்நுட்பங்களை பயன்படுத்தி நல்ல விஷயங்களை நாலுபேருக்கு சொல்லி அதில் ஒருவர் கடைபிடித்தால் அவருக்கும் லாபம்…நமக்கும் லாபம்.சிறுசோ…பெருசோ ஒரு நல்ல காரியம் செய்யும் போது..நான் செய்கிறேன் என நினைப்பே …காரியத்தை அசுத்த படுத்திவிடும்..”அவன் இயக்குகிறான்…நாம் இயங்குகிறோம்…இதே நினைவோடு நம்மால் முடிந்ததை செய்வோம்..
தங்களின் பதிவை படித்த பிறகே பழூர் பற்றி தெரிந்தது.வருஷ கணக்கில் அதே
வழியாக …திருச்சி டு கரூர்..குளித்தலை என போய்
வந்தேன்.தெரியவில்லை.இப்போ பழூர் போய் நமஸ்காரம் செய்து ..வில்வக்கன்று
வைத்துவிட்டு ..ஸ்வாமிகளின் உபதேச புஸ்தகம் 30 விலைக்கு வாங்கி
வந்தேன்.என் அகத்துக்கு அருகில் உள்ள சாஸ்திரிக்கு ஆண்குழந்தை இல்லை..ஒரு
பெண் மட்டுமே. நான் என் பெண்ணிற்காக திருக்கருகாவூர் சென்றபோது
இவளுக்காகவும் வேண்டி,எண்ணெய்,பிரசாதம் மற்றும் இந்த புஸ்தகம்
கொடுத்தேன்..அவாளுக்கு அத்தனை சந்தோஷம்..மற்றும் 8 -வது படிக்கும் ஒரு
பூநூல் போட்ட பையன்.கொஞ்சம் ஸ்லோ learner …அவனுக்கு கொடுத்து படிக்க
சொன்னேன்..வீட்டில் அவாளவாளுக்கு தேவையான ஸ்லோகங்களை
படிக்கின்றனர்…இதுதானே நமக்கு உண்மையான சந்தோஷம். என் அகத்தின்
பக்கத்தில் உள்ள ஓரிக்கை டிரஸ்ட் பாடசாலையில் உள்ள குழந்தைகள் அனைவரும்
இப்போ ஊருக்கு போகும் முன்..வீட்டுக்கு வந்து..”தாத்தா ..பாட்டி
போய்ட்டுவாரோம் “என சொல்லிவிட்டு போகும்போது பெரியவாளே வந்தது போல் ஒரு
சந்தோஷம்…எனவே ராமாயணம் தொடரட்டும்..மன்றாடி கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறேன்..

I have been sharing about Swamigal and what Swamigal taught me from 1995 itself on internet in many ways. Email, yahoogroups, googlegroups, Facebook, Whatsapp etc and it is always a small set of people who showed interest in these topics and I think it will stay that way only.
I just stick to the text of Ramayanam, Deivathin kural. I don’t add any entertainment elements. I don’t connect with the audience and praise them. I just keep on praising Rama and Swamigal and this itself puts off people! I don’t add other religious or social activities, money collection, just keep to bhajanam. Also, this is not something esoteric knowledge like some people think. It is just the story of Rama or Adi Shankara in a plain unpretentious style.
I believe that telling Rama’s story, chanting stothrams, teaching them to others itself is a form of worship. Internet helps me reach like minded people without much effort. Like I maintain, I do like the company of people or in other words mugastuthi, honor and fame. I am no saint to shun them so easily. Very much a pamaran only. Want to open a window for some income also from this chanting / teaching, without selling it at a price, so that I can do more of it.
Praying to Swamigal to guide me and protect me all the way.

Dear Mahesh Namaskaram.
Needless to say your blog has done wonders to our lives . Though I can’t say that I am able to adhere to Periyava’s advice on many things , atleast Periyava Smaranai is inculcated . After repeatedly ignoring the Ekadashi fasting appeal , with His grace I have finally given it a try though still not in Level 1 or 2.
What to say of Periavaya’ ways .My friend and myself here have been discussing about learning Mooka Pancha Shathi for last two months . My friend has been reading it regularly for last two years as per the Aagnai of our HH Bala Periyava . I have also finally managed to get a book with Their blessings recently .
After reading this mail we wish to enquire if Shri Ganapathy can teach us over Skype Mooka Pancha Shathi . If you can assist by providing his contact details we would enquire . It would be a great blessing for us to learn from him .

Volumes of knowledge about Govinda Damodar Swamigal , Sivan Sir and Maha Periyavala! He is so humble in mind that he let no talk praise his services or Noble deeds.!
He was under the guidance of Govinda Damodar Swamigal for about 15 years and he was turned to be this much during that period! He had visited and got inspired by Shri Sivan Sir and Maha Periyavala on those
Days….These are facts and all I came to know after my
Satsangh with him. His simplicity in life is commendable.
I hear Vishnu Sahasranamam and Shankara Charitham
Daily. Even children are getting inspired by his simple talks.
He narrates much of unknown information about Shri
Adi Shankara Bhagavath padhal by referring to various books.

இருபொருள் கொண்ட பாடல்.
1 ) எளிமையான உணவான கஞ்சியோ, கம்பஞ்சோறோ உண்ணமாட்டாள்.
தொட்டுக்கொள்ள (நாம் சைடு டிஷ் என்போமே)..எதுவும் விரும்பமாட்டாள். மனசில் பயம்,சந்தேகம் உள்ள அரவார்க்கு (பக்தர்களுக்கு ) ஆறுதலை அருள்பவள் தாமரை போல் முகம் கொண்ட காமாக்ஷி (மேலே சொன்ன எதுவும் வேண்டாமல் கஞ்சத்தனமாக இருப்பவள் என்று பொருளும் உண்டு..விளையாட்டாக)
2 ) காஞ்சி மாநகரை இருப்பிடமாக கொண்டவள்..ஏகம்பனுக்கு படைக்கப்பட்ட நிவேதனத்தை ஏற்கமாட்டாள் (காஞ்சியில் எந்த சிவாலயத்திலும் அம்பாள் சன்னதி இல்லாததால்) மனசில் யார்மீதும் சினம் ,வன்மம் வைத்துக்கொள்ளாதவள்.தன் குழந்தைகள் மனசில் ஏற்படும் பயம்,துன்பம் போன்றவற்றை போக்கி ஆறுதலாய் இருப்பவள் இந்த தாமரை மலர்போல் முகம் கொண்ட காமாக்ஷி)—இதெல்லாம் சொன்னது நானல்ல …நம் மஹாபெரியவா.
இவள்தான் நம் கணபதியின் உள்ளதே புகுந்து, அவ்வப்போது ராமாயணம்,மூகபஞ்ச சதி,இப்போ சங்கரவிஜயம் போன்றவற்றை தர அருள்பாலித்துக்கொண்டு இருக்கிறாள்….தற்காலத்தில் இதுபோன்ற ப்ரவசனத்திற்கு நிரம்ப பொருள் செலவு, அவர்கள் பேச்சுக்கு இடையே ஜெனரஞ்சகத்திற்காக அரசியல்,சினிமா,ஜோக் என பேசும் நபர்களுக்கு இடையே …இவர் ஒரு தனி ரகமாக இருப்பது சந்தோஷமாக இருக்கு. மஹாபெரியவா அனுக்கிரஹம் இருக்கும் இவரின் பணி மென்மேலும் சிறக்கும் என்பதில் ஐயமில்லை. மஹாபெரியவா பாதம் சரணம்.
Thanks much Mahesh, for a beautiful write-up on Ganapathy Anna. Anna has been instrumental in initiating adiyen’s long time wish of learning Mookapanchashati. Through Anna, adiyen has fallen in love with learning the true text of Valmiki Ramayanam. It is absolutely the grace and blessings of Sri PeriyavA that the connection between us happened sometime back. In fact, the first connection happened through our blog (Sage of Kanchi) when I was reading the book on Aangarai PeriyavA written by Ganapathy Anna 🙂
We all wish for Anna to do more and more Pravachanams on bigger stages. Everyone should taste the sweetness of Valmiki Ramayanam and the beauty of Mookapanchashati slokams as passed on by Swamigal to Ganapthy Anna. To be honest and not to exaggerate, Anna will always stay true to the text and we will get the Bhaagyam of quotes and commentaries of Swamigal every now and then.
Lets pray the Kali Yuga Mummoorthigal: Sri MahaperiyavA, Sri SAR and Sri Swamigal.

Thanks for your kind words Mahesh. I feel the best blessings from talking about Mahaperiyava, Swamigal and Sar is that sincere devotees of Mahaperiyava (lot more sincere than myself) come near me. I always think of this slokam from Mookapanchashathi as a reason for getting good friends.

அப்படீன்னு ஒரு ஸ்லோகம். “ஹே காமாக்ஷி, உன்னுடைய புன்சிரிப்பு பாற்கடலை போல வெள்ளையா இருக்கு. அதுல ஒரு திவலை இந்த பக்தர்கள், மேல படறதுனால அவாளுக்கு தூய்மையான நண்பர்கள் கிடைக்கறா. எல்லா வினைகளும் போய் அவாளுக்கு தூய்மையான புகழ் கிடைக்கறது. அவாளுக்கு தூய்மையான வாக்கும் அமையறது” அப்படீன்னு சொல்றார்.

Triplicane Periyaval has given you a lot. Digest them rather than vomiting them. In the matter of passing on your sacred knowledge to others, try to follow Triplicane Periyaval’s methods. He shunned honour and popularity as if they were virulent poison. There is a very important saying in Ypm about Pamaran for persons like us. It says Mugasthuthiyai Udirppavanum Erpavanum Pamaran. Take care to ensure that your noble endeavours don’t fall within the purview of this saying.

Thanks for the sage advice and timely warning Mohan. I will keep them in mind. Not sure if I can that easily give up my taste for mugastuthi or shun honor and popularity. But your words of concern touches a chord in me. Let me pray for purity. You also pray for me.
Thanks Sri Maheshji for posting about Sri Ganapathy and his interest in Kanchi Achraya , Govinda Damodara Swamigal , Sivan Sir etc .I follow his Vishnu Sahasranama Parayam on FB most of the times .
