Jaya Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara – I have heard this incident beautifully narrated by Shri Ganesa Sarma. This is one of those scintillating incidents that shows our Periyava is beyond all religion, caste, and creed. What a Bhakthi Bhavam one should have to call Periyava as Appa? The miracle that Periyava did after she was longing for prasadam when Periyava hid his sthoola sareeram is really moving. I will post a related incident in a few days but wanted to post this one so devotees can relate to that.

பூக்காரி
காஞ்சி மடத்தருகில், காமாட்சி என்று ஒரு பூக்காரி இருந்தாள். அவள் பெரியவாளை “அப்பா” என்றுதான் அழைப்பாள். தினமும் ஒரு கூடை பூவினால் பெரியவாளை அர்ச்சிப்பாள்.பெரி யவா “ஏன் இப்படி பூவை வீணாக்கறே? இதை வித்தா உனக்கு காசு கிடைக்குமே!” என்பார். “காசு பெரிசா சாமி! உன் தலையில் அர்ச்சித்தால் அதற்கு மேலேயே எல்லாம் கிடைக்கும்” என்பாள். பூக்காரி.
மடத்தில் ஒரு நியதி உண்டு. பெரியவா படுத்துக்கப் போய்விட்டால் யாரும் எழுப்பக் கூடாது. ஆனால், இந்தக் காமாட்சி மட்டும் விதிவிலக்கு. எத்தனை நேரமானாலும் வரலாம். ஏனெனில், பெரியவாளே அவளிடம், ” நீ உன் வியாபாரத்தை முடித்துக் கொண்ட பிறகுதான் என்னிடம் வரணும். பாதியில் விட்டு வரக் கூடாது!” என்று கட்டளை இட்டிருந்தார்.அவளது பிழைப்பை தனக்காக விடுவதற்கு அந்தக் கருணாமூர்த்தி சம்மதிப்பாரா?
ஒரு நாள் பெரியவா, நாகராஜன் என்பவரை 9 மணி நியூஸ் கேட்டுச் சொல்லச் சொல்லி, கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தார். வேதாந்த தத்துவங்கள் ஒரு புறம் இருந்தாலும், உலக நடப்பையும் தெரிந்து கொள்ளாமல் விடமாட்டார். அந்தச் செய்திகளை அலசி ஆராய்ந்த பிறகு படுக்கப் போக நாழி ஆகிவிடும். அன்று, புதுக்கோட்டையிலிருந்து “ஜானா” என்ற ஒரு பெண் பெரியவாளுக்கு வெல்வெட்டில் பாதுகை செய்து கொண்டு வந்திருந்தாள். அதைக் காலை முதல் பெரியவா கழற்றவேயில்லை. படுக்கைக்குப் போகு முன் கொட்டகை சென்று, தேகசுத்தி பண்ணிக் கொண்டு வரச் சென்றார். அப்போது நியூஸ் படிக்கும் நாகராஜன், “இன்று பெரியவா பாதுகையைக் கழட்டினதும் நான்தான் எடுத்துக்கொள்வேன், என்னிடம் பெரியவா பாதுகையே இல்லை!” என்று கழட்டுவதற்குக் காத்திருந்தார். பெரியவா பாதுகையைக் கழட்டாமலேயே உட்கார்ந்திருந்தார். பூக்காரி வந்து நமஸ்காரம் செய்தாள். பாதுகையைக் கழற்றி பூக்காரியிடம், “இது உனக்குத்தான், எடுத்துக்கோ!” என்றார்.
“நாமொன்று நினைத்தால் தெய்வமொன்று நினைக்கிறது!” என்று நாகராஜன் குறையோடு திரும்பினார். அப்படிப்பட்ட அன்புக்கு அந்த ஏழைப்பூக்காரி பாத்திரமாயிருந்தார். எத்தனையோ பேர் அவளிடம் லட்ச ரூபாய் தரோம், இந்தப் பாதுகையைக் கொடு என்றனர். அவள் அசையவேயில்லை. பெரியவா அவளுக்கு இந்த உலக வாழ்க்கைக்கு வேண்டிய வசதிகளெல்லாம் கிடைக்கச் செய்தார்.அவள் வீட்டுத் திருமணங்களுக்கு வண்டி,வண்டியாக கல்யாண சாமான்கள் அனுப்பினார்.
பெரியவா ஸித்தியான பிறகும், சமாதிக்கு இரவில் பூக்களால் அர்ச்சிப்பதை காமாட்சி விடவில்லை. ஆனால், பெரியவா இருக்கும்போது பூக்கூடையை வெறுமனே திருப்பாமல் ஏதாவது பழம் முதலியன போட்டுத்தான் அனுப்புவார்.அவர் மறைவுக்குப் பின் வெறுங்கூடையைப் பார்க்கவே வருத்தமாக இருந்தது. “அப்பா, நீ இருந்தா இப்படி என்னை வெறுங்கூடையுடன் அனுப்புவாயா!” என்று புலம்பினாள். கூடையை வைத்துக்கொண்டு உட்கார்ந்திவளுக்கு தூக்கிவாரிப்போடும்படி அதிஷ்டானத்திலிருந்து ஒரு சம்பரத்தைப் பூ யாரோ வீசி எறிந்தது போல் வந்து அவள் கூடையில் விழுந்தது.
இது போல் பல நிகழ்ச்சிகள் இன்னமும் நடந்து கொண்டுதான் இருக்கின்றன. பிரத்தியட்சமாக அவர் அருளைத் தந்து கொண்டுதான் வருகிறார்.
நம்பினோர் கெடுவதில்லை…..இது நான்கு மறை தீர்ப்பு.

Flower Vendor
There was a flower vendor by name Kamakshi near the Kanchi Matam. She used to call Periava as ‘APPA’ (Father). She would do ‘ArchanA’ to PeriavA with one full basket of flowers daily. PeriavA would tell her “Why are you wasting so much flowers ? If you sell them, you will get some money!” to which she would reply, “Is money so great Appa? If I perform ‘Archanai’ to you with these flowers, I would get much more than that”.
There was a rule in SriMatam. If PeriavA goes to sleep, no one should wake Him up. But this Kamakshi was an exception to that rule. She could come however late it might be. Because, PeriavA Himself had ordered her to come to Matam only after finishing her business and not in the middle. Would the epitome of compassion let her leave her ‘bread—earning’ job for His sake?
On a particular evening, Periava was listening to one Nagarajan who was hearing the nine o’clock news and conveying it to Him. Vedic principles apart, He would not miss updating Himself with the goings- on in the world. After analyzing the news, it would be quite late when He went to sleep. On that day, a lady by name JANA had come for His Darsan with a pair of ‘PAdukAs’ made of velvet. PeriavA was wearing them since morning and had not removed them till night. Before going to sleep He went to ‘KottAy’ (bathroom), to have a wash. Nagarajan who was reading the news to PeriavA said to himself, ‘ When PeriavA removes His PAdhukAs today, I will take them; I do not have His PAdukAs at all’ and was waiting for it. PeriavA sat down without removing His PAdhukA’s. The flower vendor lady came and prostrated before PeriavA. PeriavA removed His PAdhukA’s , gave them to her saying, “These are for you only; take them”.
Nagarajan returned with a dejected mind thinking, ‘when I think of something, God thinks otherwise’. That poor flower vendor lady had such an immense ‘BAgyam’ (boon) to have been blessed by PeriavA’s kindness. So many persons tried to persuade her to give away those PAdukA’s to them offering as much as one lac. Rupees, but she did not budge. PeriavA had arranged for all her needs. He sent cartloads of items for the marriages in her house.
Even after PeriavA attained Sidhdhi, she continued to do her ‘Flower Archanai’ in the ‘AdhishtAnam’ during the evenings. But when PeriavA was carrying His body, He never sent her back with an empty basket, but always put some fruits in it. After His Sidhdhi, she was greatly distressed to look at the empty basket. She cried, “AppA ! If you were there, would you send me back with the empty basket?” Suddenly, to her utter amazement, a ‘Chemparuththi flower’ (hibiscus) fell into her basket as if someone from the AdhishtAnam had thrown it towards her !
Many such incidents are happening even in the present days; He is blessing us all in His ‘Pratyaksha Roopam’.
Those who believe are never let down; This is the verdict of the four VEdAs.

I sent money to her account. She was very kind & happy to deliver to both places and send prasadams to me. She has 8 more sisters and brothers also (that I dont know). Here is the continuation…ஹோமம் நடந்திருக்கு. முடிஞ்சதும் மாமா தாத்தா, ‘இனிமே கவலையில்லை. பெரியவா நூறு வருஷம் இருப்பான்னு சொல்லியிருக்கா. அது உண்மையாச்சு. What stunned me is, some one is predicting it is anthima kaalam for Periyava. His holiness is bothered about Go Hathi dhosham. Periyava’s thoughts and deeds were fenced around Dharma sastra, nothing else!

பெரியவாளுக்கு ஒரு தடவை இருதய பிரச்சினை வந்த போது, மடத்து வைத்தியர், பெரியவா இன்னும் ஏழு நாள் தான் இருப்பார்ன்னு சொல்லிட்டாராம். எனக்கு இந்த விவரம் பாலு மாமா சொல்லி தான் தெரியும். அப்ப, பெரியவா மேலகரம் சாஸ்த்ரிகளை கூட்டிண்டு வாங்கோன்னு சொல்றார். அவரும் வந்து பெரியவா நாடியை பார்த்துட்டு, வைத்தியர் சொன்னது சரிதான். பெரியவாளோட ஜாதகம் வேணும்னு கேட்கிறார். ஜாதகத்தை பார்த்துட்டு, “நான் சொல்றத பண்ணினா பெரியவா நூறு வயசு இருப்பா”ன்னு சொல்றார். ஏதோ பிரத்யேக ஹோமம் பண்ண சொல்லியிருக்கா. என்ன ஹோமம் என்று எனக்கு ஞாபகம் இல்லை. பத்து நாள் பண்ணணும். அந்த பத்து நாளும் பெரியவா என்ன பிக்ஷை பண்ணனும்னா வெறும் பசும்பால் தான், அதுவும் ஒரு பசு மாட்டுக்கு நாகமரத்து இலையும் (நாவல் பழ மரம்) தண்ணியும் மட்டும் தான் ஆகாரமா கொடுக்கணும். புல்லோ, வைக்கோலோ, தவிடோ, வேறு எதுவும் கொடுக்காம, அந்த மாட்டோட பாலை மட்டும் தான் பெரியவா எடுத்துக்கணும்ன்னு சொல்லிட்டார். பெரியவா கேக்கறா ‘வெறும் நாக இலையும் தண்ணியும் மட்டும் கொடுத்து, பசு மாட்டுக்கு ஏதாவது ஆயிடுத்துன்னா, எனக்கு கோஹத்தி பண்ணின தோஷம் வந்திடாதா?ன்னு கேக்கறார். அதெல்லாம் ஒண்ணும் ஆகாது பெரியவா, நான் பாத்துக்கறேன்னு சொல்லியிருக்கா…..

Though she is blessed with a flower she could carry it safely; whereas my mother and myself during 1958 then I was 12 years old had darshan very close surprisingly He put a beads mala around my mother’s neck in a flash someone with his crowd pleaded with my mother to return it so that inturn he would return to Maha Periyava since we were ignorant we acted accordingly. However His blessings are always with us.
