This day in 1907 …

Today is the most important day for all Periyava devotees. While we celebrate Anusham globally, for sanyasis, diksha dhina is very important. On Maasi Moolam in 1907, young Swaminathan took sanyasa to bless this whole world. As we heard from so many interviews and read in articles, struggle to run the matam itself was a huge challenge. At a tender age of 13, He was burdened with difficulties that no boy would have imagined. From that day till the last day, every breathe of Periyava was for the welfare of the humanity, revival of veda rakshanam and gho rakshanam amidst all hardship – all of us!

Let us carve out some time to do ashtotram and thotakashtakam to Periyava who is none other than Adi Acharya.

Our ananthakoti namaskaram to our ummachi thatha on this special day.

Don’t forget to watch live streaming from Orikkai and Adishtanam – thanks to Vignesh Studios!

Hará Hara Sankara Jaya Jaya Sankara!

  7. Dear Mahesh ji and bhaktas of Mahaperiyavaa,

I request you all to clear my confusion on a seeming discrepancy I find in the reckoning of the diksha star of mahaperiyavaa.

As per the above blog from this site, the English calendar date is 13 Feb 1907.

There is a site http://mailerindia.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?almanac in which we can find thithi/star for any given day at a place starting 1900 – 2100.
When I checked for above date, I got below details. (Kalavai is not there, but I believe Chennai & Kalavai can have some difference but not like 3 stars ahead). From Sri Ganesa sarma ji upanyasam on Periyava saptaham, I have heard that Periyava’s sanyasa diksha tithi was prathamai. so, it concurs with below.
So, regarding the star, please clarify how it was determined.

Place: Chennai, 13-2-1907, Sun rise: 6:33 AM., Sun set: 6:13 PM.
Wednesday, 2, Masi, ParAbhava(40). Kari Naal: No.
    Paksa: Suklapaksa, Thithi: Prathamai, 1, 0.452980249828523 .
Naksatra: Avittam, Karna: kiMstughna, Yoga: parigha
Lagna: Mina, 20 deg, 26 min, 3 sec. Gana : Raksasa Ganam.

    Namaskarams,
    K Ram

  8. Hara Hara Sankara Jaya Jaya Sankara
