We have our duties not only towards the living beings of this world but also towards the beings in those worlds not visible to us. Rituals like Thivasam and Tharpanam have to be performed to appease those souls who have travelled to Chandralokam, Pithrulokam, or Narakalokam after they leave their mortal coils and also to fulfill the needs of those who have been born again in this world in any form.
