This incident happened to a devotee, who remains to stay anonymous. I know her very well. She is such a staunch devotee – not just her and her entire family. While I am normally skeptical about visualization of devata mirth’s on homam fire, I do trust devotees like her who have no personal agenda while sharing such experiences.
When she got married in 1984, pretty much right around this time of the year – Karthikai month, she visited every Monday to Kanchipuram. On the day of engagement, she heard someone knocking the door of her house. She ran to the door and she saw an old man standing at the door and asking for food. She ran inside and got him a banana. He said that he is still hungry – she ran and got him a payasam. He drank and blessed her and within few minutes that man disappeared. After the reception / wedding was over, they all went to Kanchipuram to get blessings of Periyava. During that darshan, she told periyava about the old man incident. Periyava smiled at her on hearing the incident and blessed her.
Later in 2014, when she was having her Sasthiabthapoorthi, she was feverently praying Periyava that she should get her blessings for the event. On the day of the event, right at the same time homam was going on, one old man showed up at the entrance of the hall and asked for food. Someone invited him to come inside and eat. He said that “I am not allowed to come inside. Give me thayir sadham”. They gave him thayir sadham. After he ate, he left.
After the event was over and when photos were all downloaded from the camera, this was what seen in the homam!!!
Periyava had always blessed sincere devotees who are always in His thought.
Reminds me of a saying in Sri Pradosham mama’s house “Always be in my smaranai – I will take care of your kshemam”.
Namaskaram to Periyava and namaskaram to every devotee of Periyava!
Hara Hara Sankara Jaya Jaya Shankara!!
