காஞ்சீபுரத்தில் காமாக்ஷி அம்மனுக்கு கும்பாபிஷேகம்.
கோவிலிருந்து பெரியவாளை அழைத்தார்கள். ஸ்ரீ ஜயேந்திர பெரியவாளும் வந்து கூப்பிட்டார்.
ஆனால் பெரியவா வரவில்லை என்று சொல்லி விட்டார். நான் பெரியவாளிடம் நம் காமாக்ஷி அம்மனுக்குஅபிஷேகம் பெரியவா போகாமல் இருக்கலாமா? என்று கேட்டேன்.
அதற்கு பெரியவா இல்லை ஸ்ரீ ஜயேந்திர பெரியவா என் குழந்தை…மடத்தை நிர்வாகம் செய்கிறார் பூஜை செய்கிறார். அவர் தான் செய்ய வேண்டும் அது தான்முறை என்று சொல்லி விட்டார்.
கும்பாபிஷேகம் ஆன மறு நாள் கோவிலிலிருந்து தீர்த்தம்,சால்வை, புடவை எல்லாம் வந்தன. பெரியவா விபூதி ப்ரசாதத்தை இட்டுக் கொண்டார். சால்வையைப் போர்த்திக் கொண்டார்.
புடவையையும் மேலே போட்டுக் கொண்டார்.
என்னைப் பார்த்து என்ன கோவிலுக்குப் போகலாமா? நேற்றைக்கு கும்பாபிஷேகம் ஆகிவிட்டது நான் போக வில்லை எனக்குக் காமாட்சியைப் பார்க்க வேண்டும் போகலாமா? என்று கேட்டார்.
ஒரு குழந்தை தன் தாயைப் பார்க்க எப்படி ஆவலாக இருக்குமோ அப்படி ஓர் ஆவல் ! என்னை ஏன் கேட்கிறீர்கள் நீங்கள் விரும்பினால் போகலாம் என்றேன். நீதானே என்னை எங்கும் போகக் கூடாது என்று இங்கு கலவையில் உட்கார வைத்தாய் என்றுநான் மூன்று வருஷங்களுக்கு முன் அவர் கால் சக்கரங்கள் அழியாமல் இருப்பதற்காகச் சொன்ன வார்த்தைகளை மீற முடியாமல் என்னிடம் கேட்டார்.
அன்று மாலை நான்கு மணிக்கு நடக்க ஆரம்பித்து மறு நாள் மாலை நான்கு மணியளவில் காஞ்சி போய்ச் சேர்ந்தோம். கோவிலில் சென்று அம்பாளை தரிசித்துப் புஷ்பம் போட்டு மாலை சார்த்தி புடவை சாத்தி அழகு பார்த்தார். பின் எங்களுக்குப்ப்ரசாதம் கொடுத்து ஆச்சார்யாள் சன்னிதிக்கு வந்து தரிசித்து அங்கேயே வாய் திறந்த வாறு படுத்து விட்டார். அவ்வளவு அசதி.
அப்போதுஅவருக்கு தொண்ணூறு வயசு.பின் பழமும் பாலும் கொடுத்து சாப்பிடச் சொன்னேன். மூன்று பழத்துண்டுகளும் பாலும் சாப்பிட்டு துயில் கொண்டார். மறு நாள் கொட்டகைக்குச் சென்று ஸ்னானம் செய்து ஈரத்துணியுடன் காமாக்ஷிக்கு அங்கப்ரதக்ஷிணம் செய்தார். உடம்பெல்லாம் ரத்தப் புள்ளியாக தோற்றம். முதல் முதலாக காமாக்ஷியை அங்கப்ரதக்ஷிணம் செய்தவர் பெரியவா தான்!
அதே வேகத்தில் கிளம்பி 25 கிலோ மீட்டர் நடந்து கலவை சென்றுவிட்டார்!

Let me make an attempt. My Tamizh reading is only reasonable, but thought the opportunity presented itself to me on this day of Gayathri Japam.

The Kumbaabishekam was being performed for Kamakshi Amman in Kanchipuram.
Periyavaa was invited by the temple and also by Sri Jayendrar. But Periyavaa said that he was not coming. I asked Him why He was not attending the abhishekam for Kamaskhi Devi.
His response to me was “Sri Jayendrar is my child. He is now running the Matam and also the Poojas. He only has to be at the temple. That is the tradition”.
The next day, we received the Prasadams, Theertham, Shawl and Saree from the temple. Periyavaa applied the Vibuthi Prasad, draped the shawl and also put the saree on Himself.
He then asked me “Enna, shall we go to the temple?. I did not go to the Kumbaabhishekam yesterday, but I want to see the Goddess Kamakshi today, shall we go?”
The enthusiasm that He showed was similar to that of a child that is eager to see its Mother. I told Him that he need not seek my permission to do so, it was His wish. He reminded me that I had requested Him to not go anywhere and that He should stay in Kalavai three years back. He did not want to overrule my words to Him.
We left that evening at 4:00pm by walk. We reached Kanchipuram the next evening by 4:00. He went to the temple, took Darshan of Ambal, offered her flowers and admired her beauty. He then gave us prasadam, and then returned to His sannidhi and then slept. He was very tired. All this when he was 90 years old.
Later I offered Him fruits and milk. He took 3 pieces of fruit and then drank the milk. The next day he did his Snanam, and with the wet clothes performed Angapradakshinam for Kamakshi Devi. His skin was covered with sores. I think he would have been the first person to do Angapradakshinam for Kamakshi.
Right after the Angapradakshinam, with the same enthusiasm, he left for Kalavai which was 25kms away by walk.
