Extended downtime!

Every time I think about resuming my blogging something else happens….Soon after my return from Kailash yatra, my mother-in-law passed away  here in US and was busy with all the  rituals etc. It so happened that she was holding up until she had the manasarover theertham from our trip! Within few days after that, she passed away…It has been a long time since I have been through the final rites etc. Last time something I witnessed was when I was a kid when my grandparents passed away….It is a very difficult process to be part of…Also this is the first time, I see the process in US.

Few observations…The priests here do a very thorough job within the available infrastructure. Infrastructure is a big issue here in US for such things… Due to the local legal mandate, the body can’t be kept at home and should be in the funeral home etc and the cremation place and what vedic procedures could be done are fairly limited. Despite that, the priests here are very sincere in doing these properly. Only during this time, I realized that we should do something about building a place in major cities etc where one can do these kind of rites properly and all the shrardhams as well on a regular basis. Maybe with the blessings of HH Balaperiyava such an infrastructure might come in US too..

After going through the 13 day process, one can see how our veda mantras are so powerful that it literally takes the soul to depart from this loka to pithru loka. I am sure one who has seen this process would fairly believe and wanting to do shraardhams without fail. Mahaperiyava had talked in length about the importance of pithru kaaryams and how it negatively impacts if not done or missed out etc.

Soon after I am back after this tragedy, I got drowned into work related issues and travels….Hopefully soon (next week onwards) I should be back on track with few good announcements and active blogging.

Hara Hara Sankara Jaya Jaya Sankara

  1. Dear Mahesh,

    1. Very sorry to hear about your mother-in- law’s demise.
i pray to Periyava that He ‘May bless her soul rest in peace in Moksahm’.
May He give the courage to you and all your family members to move on forward with life.

    2. Periyava has said Sanatana Dharma was the only Dharma prevalent all over the world as creation evolved but later got sidelined with other religions and our own Hindus.
    May your wishes that,
“we should do something about building a place in major cities etc where one can do these kind of rites properly and all the shrardhams as well on a regular basis. Maybe with the blessings of HH Balaperiyava such an infrastructure might come in US too..”
be another step towards restoring the whole world with Sanatana Dharma-
-‘another step’ because, i read that Sastras prohibit Brahmins crossing seas. But one hidden blessing is that with Indians of all varnas settling overseas, there are possibilities for Sanatana Dharma taking roots and spreading world over again for complete salvation to all people of mankind.

May Periyava bless and uplift humanity with Sanatana Dharma.

This may not be mistaken as dominance over other religions of the world / superiority of Sanatana Dharma, please.

  2. Mahesh, My heaartiest condolences to you and your family.

May the noble soul attain the lotus feet of Shri Mahaperiyava.

  7. Mahesh.
My heartfelt condolences to you and your family on the bereavement .
May Mahaperiyavaa Bless the departed soul and all of you for your sincerity in performing the Anthima-Kriyas as per the scriptures.
It was indeed heartening to note that the Vaideekas in US performed all the ceremonies sincerely.

I was always under the impression that all these Vaideekas Brahmana’s leave fo US and the West just for a ‘few dollars more’ like their counterparts in other professions.
I am happy to be proved wrong on this aspect .

  8. My sincere condolences to the bereaved family. May Maha Periyava Grant Mohsha to the departed soul. She had the benefit of anasarovar Theertham and Dharshan of the Kailash Yaathri. The difficulties of doing Pitrhu Karmas in foreign lands are always felt deeply, but when done with sincerity will reach full realisation. Time is a great healer. Hara Hara Shankara, Jaya Jaya Shankara!
