பொதுவாகவே பணத்தின் ‘டச்’ (ஸ்பரிசம்) வந்து விட்டால் அதோடு ஒரு காரியத்தில் அநேகக் கெடுதல்களும் வந்துவிடும். பொதுத்தொண்டு செய்யப் புறப்படுகிறவர்கள் பணவிஷயத்தில் ரொம்பவும் ஜாக்கிரதையாயிருக்க வேண்டும். நல்ல ஆதரவு திரவிய ஸஹாயமாகவும் நம் கார்யத்துக்குக் கிடைத்தால்கூட அதனால் over-enthusiastic ஆகி (அதீத உத்ஸாஹம் அடைந்து) , ambitious planning (அதி ஆசைத் திட்டம்) போட்டுப் நிறையப் பணம் ‘கலெக்ட்’பண்ண ஆரம்பிக்கக் கூடாது. இப்படி ஆரம்பித்தால் அதற்கு ஒரு முடிவே இருக்காது. இதனாலே பரோபகாரம் என்கிற அன்பு எண்ணத்தையும், அதில் அங்கமாகச் செய்கிற தேவாலய கைங்கர்யங்களின் பக்தி எண்ணத்தையுங்கூட ‘வசூல் எண்ணம்’ முழுங்கிவிடும்.. நிறையப் பணம் சேர்ந்து அதைக் கையாள வேண்டியிருக்கும்போது நாமே எப்படி மாறிப் போய்விடுவோமோ என்ற பயம் ஸதாவும் இருக்கணும். அதுவுமில்லாமல், ரொம்பவும் பணம் சேர்ந்தால் ஊரிலிருப்பவர்களுக்கும் அது ஸரியாகப் பிரயோஜனமாகிறதா என்ற ஸந்தேஹம் எழும்பும். இஷ்டமில்லாதவனையும் நிர்ப்பந்தப்படுத்தி வாங்குவதும், இப்படி வாங்கிவிட்டதால் அப்புறம் அவனிடம் பவ்யப்பட்டு நிற்பதும் நம் பணியையே அசுத்தம் செய்துவிடும். ஆனதால் எந்த நல்ல காரியமானாலும் ‘அதி’யாக அதைக் கொண்டு போய் விடாமல் அவசியத்தோடு நிறுத்திக் கொண்டு, செட்டும் கட்டும் சிக்கனமுமாகவே அதற்கான வரவு செலவுகளை நிர்வஹிக்க வேண்டும். பொதுத் தொண்டுக்கு மூல பலம் பணம் இல்லை, ஐக்யப்பட்ட மனம்தான் என்று புரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும். பணம் கொடுத்தவன் என்று எவனையும் பிரகடனப்படுத்தி, அதனால் அவனுடைய புண்யபலன் போய்விடும்படியாகச் செய்து விடக்கூடாது. – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்

The money factor can cause a lot of evils in any task. Persons who seek to perform social service should be extremely careful in money matters. When donations flow freely, one should not become a victim of over enthusiasm and draw ambitious plans and start collecting more and more funds. The “collection” factor should not overwhelm the devotional factor and the philanthropic factor. One should be scared that he may be led astray when he is forced to handle a lot of cash. Moreover, people may start raising doubts about the proper utilization of this money. If people unwillingly contribute money, one may be forced to cringe in front of them. All this is unnecessary. So, however noble the task is, it should be performed with prudence, confining oneself to the essential expenditure and not indulging in extravagance. One should realize that the root of social service is a confluence of hearts and not money.
