Experiences with Maha Periyava: Kanakal Treatment
This is an incident that happened twenty years back. A man named Echankudi Ganesa Aiyer was a staunch devotee of Sri Maha Periyava. His wife had cancer in the stomach and was suffering a lot. Doctors advised that she must be operated upon or else it would be difficult for her to survive the disease.
Ganesa Aiyer came to Periyava and appealed to Him.
Sri Maha Periyava said, “There is no need for any operation. There is a railway station named ThirunellikKaaval near ThiruturaiPoondi. If you get down at the station and go towards the West for a kilometre, you can see an irrigation canal. There is tree on the banks of canal called “Kanakal” (in Tamil). Ask her to take the stalks of its leaves, her cancer will be cured.” After receiving this advice, his wife ate the stalks of the leaves and within a few days the cancer started disappearing and got completely cured.
As she always prayed to the sage, Ganesa Aiyer’s wife lived past eighty years, and happily witnessed the kanakabhisekam of Sri Maha Periyava before attaining the lotus feet of the Lord.

It is possibly an elephant apple tree. Look for a tree that has betulinic acid content in its bark, leaves etc. That’s what I think. Still researching.
Kannada name : betta kanagalu
Anyone still looking for the tree?
Yes, can you tell the details, like available place, names in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, etc.

Was there any attempt to locate this tree ?
That tree has withered away.
