சர்வேஸ்வரன் சகல ஜீவராசிகளுக்கு படியளக்கறவர். சதா சர்வ காலமும் அவரோட நினைப்பெல்லாம் லோக ரட்சணம் பத்திதான் இருக்கும்னு புராணங்கள் எல்லாம் சொல்றது.

சாட்சாத் அந்தப் பரமேஸ்வரனோட அம்சமாவே வாழ்ந்த பரமாசார்யாளும் அப்படித்தான். எப்பவும் எல்லாரும் நன்னா இருக்கணும். யார் யாருக்கு என்னென்ன தேவையோ அதை தேவை அறிஞ்சு பண்ணணும்கறதையே எப்பவும் சிந்தனையா வைச்சுண்டு இருந்தார்.

திருவண்ணாமலைக்குப் பக்கத்துல காஞ்சி கடலாடின்னு ஒரு கிராமம் இருக்கு. சிங்கம், புலி எல்லாம்கூட உலாவிண்டு இருந்துது. பக்ல்லயே அங்கே போறது ரொம்ப சிரமம். அந்த இடத்துக்குப் பக்கத்துல பெரிய மலைகள் எல்லாம் இருக்கு. அந்த மலைகள்ல ஒண்ணுல பரமேஸ்வரனும், ஈஸ்வரியும் கோயில்கொண்டிருக்கா. அந்த மலைக்குப் பேரு பர்வதமலை. சுவாமி, மல்லிகார்ஜூனர். அம்பாள் பிரமராம்பிகை.

பௌர்ணமியில திருவண்ணாமலையில கிரிவலம் போற மாதிரி பர்வத மலையை மார்கழி மாசம் ஒண்ணம்தேதி பிரதட்சணம் பண்றது சுத்துவட்டாரத்துல உள்ள கிராமத்து மக்களோட வழக்கம். பரமாசார்யா எப்போல்லாம் அந்தப் பக்கமா போறாரோ அப்போல்லாம் அந்த மலையை பிரதட்சணம் பண்ணிடுவார். தோராயமா முப்பத்தஞ்சு, முப்பத்தாறு கிலோமீட்டர் தூரம் சுத்திவர வேண்டியது இருக்கும். ஆசார்யா கூட போறவாள்லாம், மேல்மூச்சு கீழ்மூச்சு வாங்க நடப்பா. ஆனா, பெரியவா வழக்கமா சாதாரணப் பாதையில நடக்கறதைவிட ரொம்ப வேகமா, அதேசமயம் கொஞ்சமும் தடுமாறாம அந்த மலைப்பாதையில நடப்பார்.

ஒருதரம் மார்கழி மாசம் ஒண்ணாந்தேதி அன்னிக்கு பர்வத மலையை வலம் வரணும்னுட்டு முதல்நாளே போய்பக்கத்துல முகாம் போட்டுட்டா பெரியவா. சரியான பாதை இல்லாத அந்தக் காலத்துலயே கிட்டத்தட்ட ரெண்டு லட்சம்பேர் கிரிவலம் பண்ணுவா. அதனால விடியற்காலம்பற மூணு மணிக்கே பிரதட்சணம் பண்ண ஆரம்பிச்சுடணும்னு தீர்மானிச்சார், ஆசார்யா.

அதுக்கப்புறம் பெரியவா கூட வந்த சிப்பந்திகள் எல்லாரும் போஜனம் பண்ணிட்டு தூங்கப் போயிட்டா. பாதிராத்திரி இருக்கும். சிப்பந்தியில ஒருத்தர் திடீர்னு எழுந்து உட்கார்ந்தார். தான் எழுந்துண்டதோட இல்லாம மத்தவாளையும் எழுப்பினார்.

பெரியவா என் சொப்பனத்துல வந்து, “நீங்கள்லாம் சின்ன வயசுக்காரா. பசியைத் தாங்கிண்டு பிரதட்சணம் பண்ணுவேள். சுத்துப்பட்டு கிராமத்துல இருந்தெல்லாம் பலரும் வராளே… அவாள்லாம் சாப்பாட்டுக்கு என்ன பண்ணுவா? கைக்குழந்தை இருந்தாலும், அடுத்தவேளை சாப்பாட்டுக்கே கஷ்டப்பட்டாலும் எல்லாத்தையும் சகிச்சுண்டு. குழந்தைகளையும் தூக்கிண்டு பிரதட்சணம் பண்றாளே அவாளுக்கு சாப்பிட ஏதாவது பண்ணக்கூடாதா?’ன்னு கேட்டார்னு சொன்னார்.

உடனே இன்னொருத்தர், “எனக்கும் அதேமாதிரி கனவு வந்துது. பண்டிகை, நாள் நட்சத்திரம்னாதான் இனிப்புப் பண்டமெல்லாம் பண்ணணுமா? அன்னதானத்துலயும் இனிப்புப் பலகாரத்தை சேர்த்துக் குடுத்தா, பாவம் ஏழைகள் சந்தோஷப்படுவா இல்லையா?’ எப்படின்னு பெரியவா சொல்றமாதிரி இருந்துது.

அவ்வளவுதான் எல்லாரும் எழுந்துண்டுட்டா. கிரிவலம் வர்றவாளுக்கு அன்னதானம் பண்ணறது. அதுவும் இனிப்போட தர்றதுன்னு தீர்மானிச்சா. ஆனா, பரிசாரகர் சொன்ன ஒரு விஷயம் அவாளை யோசிக்க வைச்சுது. முகாம்ல கொஞ்சமே கொஞ்சம்தான் அரிசி இருக்கு. அதைவைச்சுண்டு, எப்படி லட்சக்கணக்கானவாளுக்கு அன்னதானம் பண்ண சமைக்கறதுன்னுதான் கேள்வி எழுப்பினார் அவர்.

அந்த அர்த்தராத்திரியில எங்கேயும் போய் அரிசி கேட்கவோ, வாங்கிண்டு வரவோ வசதி கிடையாது. அன்னதானம் பண்ணணும்னா, விடியற்காலம்பறவே சமையல் பண்ணிடணும் அதனால என்ன செய்யறதுன்னு அவா யோசிச்சுண்டு இருந்தப்போ, முகாமோட வாசல்ல மாட்டுவண்டி ஒண்ணு வந்து நின்றது.

அதுல இருந்து இறங்கிவந்த ஒருத்தர், “என்ன ஆச்சர்யம்! எல்லாரும் தூங்கிண்டு இருப்பேள்னு நினைச்சேன். முழிச்சுண்டு இருக்கேளே… நான் பக்கத்து ஊர்க்காரன். பரமாசார்யா பிடி அரிசித் திட்டத்தை அறிவிச்சதுல இருந்து எங்க ஊர்க்காரா எல்லாரும் அதைத் தட்டாம செஞ்சுண்டு இருக்கோம். மூணுமாசமா சேர்த்த அரிசியை காஞ்சிபுரத்துல கொண்டு வந்து தரலாம்னு நினைச்சுண்டு இருந்தப்போ, ஆசார்யா இங்கேயே முகாம் போட்டிருக்கான்னு தெரிஞ்சுது. அதான் இங்கேயே கொடுத்துடலாம்னு கொண்டு வந்தேன்’ சொல்லிவிட்டு அரிசி மூட்டைகளை இறக்கிவைக்க ஆரம்பிச்சார்.

கிட்டத்தட்ட முப்பது மூட்டை அரிசியோட சர்க்கரை, உளுந்தும் இறக்கிவைச்சார். அதெல்லாமும் சிலர் குடுத்ததா சொன்னார். “விடியற்காலம்பறவே எனக்கு முக்கியமான வேலை இருக்கு. அதனால ஆசார்யாகிட்டே என்னோட வந்தனத்தை சொல்லிடுங்கோ, நான் புறப்படறேன்’னு சொன்னவர் பதிலுக்குக்கூட காத்துண்டு இருக்காம புறப்பட்டுப் போயிட்டார்.

அன்னதானத்துக்கு ஆசார்யாளோட அனுகிரகம் கிடைச்சுடுத்துங்கறதைப் புரிஞ்சுண்டு மளமளன்னு அடுப்பைப் பத்தவைச்சு சமையலைத் தொடங்கினா எல்லாரும் உளுந்தும் சர்க்கரையும் கிடைச்சுட்டதால ஜாங்கிரியும் சேர்த்துத் தரலாம்னு தீர்மானிச்சு பண்ண ஆரம்பிச்சுட்டா.

எல்லாரும் சமைக்கறதுல தீவிரமா இருந்ததுல மணியைக்கூட பார்க்கலை. தீர்மானிச்சபடி மூணுமணிக்கு டாண்ணு பிரதட்சணத்தை ஆரம்பிச்சட்ட ஆசார்யா, சமைச்சுண்டு இருந்தவா பக்கம் மெதுவா திரும்பினார். “முப்பது மூட்டை அரிசி… அன்னதானம் பண்ண போதுமோன்னோ! பக்குவமா பண்ணி ஒருத்தர் விடாம எல்லாருக்கும் குடுத்துடுங்கோ!’ சொன்னவர், மௌனமா புன்னகைச்சுண்டே நடக்க ஆரம்பிச்சுட்டார்.

வந்தது முப்பது மூட்டை அரிசிங்கறதை யாருமே மகா பெரிவா கிட்டே சொல்லலை. அது மட்டுமல்லாம, அன்னதானம் பண்ணணும்னு ஆசார்யா நேரடியா யார்கிட்டேயும் சொல்லலை. சொப்பனத்துல வந்த காட்சியை வைச்சுதான் பாதிராத்திரியில தீர்மானமே பண்ணினாங்க. இதெல்லாம் எப்படி அவருக்கு தெரிஞ்சுது? இதையெல்லாம்விட புரிஞ்சுக்கவே முடியாத புதிர் என்ன தெரியுமா? சமைச்ச முப்பது மூட்டை அரிசி ரொம்ப சரியா கிரிவலம் வந்த கடைசி நபருக்குக் குடுத்ததோட தீர்ந்துடுத்து. அதுக்கப்புறம் யாரும் வலமும் வரலை. அன்னமும் மீறலை.

கிரிவலம் வர்றவாளுக்கு அன்னதானம் பண்ணணும்கறதை தீர்மானிச்சது யாரோ, அவரேதான் அதுக்கான அரிசி உள்ளிட்ட எல்லாத்தையும் கொண்டுவந்து சேர்த்திருக்கார்ங்கறது அப்போதான் எல்லாருக்கும் புரிஞ்சுது. தெய்வம் அசரீரியாவோ கனவுல வந்தோ பேசும்னு சொல்லுவாளே, அதேமாதிர பரமாசார்யாளும் தன்னோட தீர்மானத்தை மத்தவாளுக்கு எந்த ரூபத்துல வந்து வேணும்னாலும் தெரியப்படுத்துவார்ங்கறதையும் உணர முடிஞ்சது.

“Periyava will manifest in any form to convey his decision to others”.

(This amazing incident happened during the Girivalam of Parvatha malai).

Sarveswaran nurtures and cares for all living beings.  Puranas say that, his thoughts, are always are centred on protection and care of all creations.

Paramacharya, who was an incarnation of that Easwaran, also remained so.  Everyone should be happy always.  His thoughts always revolved around satisfying the needs of people at the appropriate time.

There is a village named Kanchi Kadalaadi near Tiruvannamalai.  Lions and tigers roamed around.  Going there even during the day time was difficult.  There are big hills in that locale.  In one of those mountains, there is a temple for Parameswaran and Easwari.  That’s called Parvathamalai.  Lord’s name is Mallikarjunar and Ambal is Bramaraambikai.

Just as people do girivalam of Tiruvannamalai hill on the full moon day, people from the adjoining villages of Parvathamalai, do a girivalam on the 1^st day of Margazhi.  Whenever Paramacharya visited that area he would do a girivalam of this hill.  The circumferential distance to cover is approximately 35 to 36 kilometres.  While people who accompanied Acharya would be panting for breath.  Periyava however would walk faster on that mountain path as compared to walking on a regular path, without breaking a stride.

Once, in order to perform the girivalam on the 1^st day of margazhi, periyava camped a day earlier in a nearby area.  Those days, despite not having proper path, about 2 lakh people would do the girivalam.  Hence Periyava decided to start the circumambulation very early in the morning at 3am.

Thereafter, the assistants who came with him finished their dinner and slept.  Sometime around midnight, one of the assistants woke and sat. Not restricting to himself, he woke the other assistants also.

Periyavaa appeared in my dream and asked, “You are all of young age.  You can withstand the hunger and do the circumambulation.  There are so many people coming from the nearby villages.  What will they do for food?   They come carrying their small babies, and though they struggle for a meal on a regular basis, they withstand all that and still come and do the circumambulation.  Should something not be organized for them?”

Immediately another person said, “Even I had a similar dream.”  Periyava was asking, “Should sweets be made and given only on festive occasions.  Why should sweets not be given during Annadhaanam.  Will the poor people not be happy?”

That was it!  Everybody got up.  They decided to perform Annadhanam for people who come for the Girivalam and that too alongwith sweets.  However the store manager had a concern, which put them all into deep thought.  There is very little rice in the camp and with such a meagre quantity how to plan Annadhaanam for lakhs of people!

There was no place to go and buy rice in the dead of that night!  If they had to perform the Annadhaanam, they had to start the preparations very early in the morning.  While they were thus engaged in thought, a bullock cart stopped in front of the camp.

A person who got down from the vehicle said, “What a surprise!  I thought all of you would be sleeping but you are all awake…..I live in the neighbouring town….Ever since Paramacharya announced the Pidiarisi Scheme we have been unfailingly following it.  We wanted to deliver the rice that we had collected over the last 3 months and once we came to know that Paramacharya was here, I thought I will hand it over here itself” and he continued to unload the bags of rice.

Alongwith approximately 30 sacks of rice, he also unloaded sacks of sugar and pulses.  He said those were also given by some others.  “Since I have some urgent work very early in the morning, I have to leave.  Please convey my respects to Acharya”, so saying he left without even waiting for a reply.

Realising that they had the blessings of Acharya for conducting the Annadaanam, they started the process to prepare the food.  Since they had the pulses and sugar, it was decide to also serve Jaangri to all.

Fully engrossed in their cooking they did not realize the time.  As decided, Periyava started for the girivalam sharp at 3!  Slowly he turned towards those who were cooking, “Will 30 sacks of rice be enough for the Annadhaanam?  Cook well and ensure everybody is served”, so saying he walked off with a smile.

Nobody had informed 30 sacks of rice had arrived, also Acharya had never directly told them to conduct Annadhaanam.  The decision was made based on the dream that happened in the middle of the night.  How did he know all this?  Do you know the most confusing part of the puzzle which was beyond comprehension?  The entire food that was prepared was fully exhausted after serving all those who came for the Girivalam.  Nobody came after that, and there was no rice left after that.

Only then they realized that he who decided to perform the Annadhaanam for those who came for the Girivalam, also provided the means for that.

It is said that god manifests in dream or through some mysterious voice and speaks, similarly Paramacharya also will express his decision manifesting in any form.    – Sri Ramakrishnan
