It is well known that Sri Maha Periyava has written extensively about how all forms of Paramatham such Lord Maha Vishnu and Lord Parameswaran are one and the same.
Millions of devotees have had dharshan over centuries at both Pandaripur Sri Panduranga Vittalla and Kohlapur Sri Mahalakshmi Thaayaar. Thousands of scholars have studied over the years stotras such as Sri Vishnupaathaathikeshaantha Stotram. But it takes only Sri Maha Periyava who can explain how this description in the stotram is consistent with what devotees can actually have Dharsan in these great Kshetrams! Who else but Sri Maha Periyava can describe a true smartha’s mental state of equal reverence to both Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva in such a great fashion!
Below are excerpts from one of Bramhasri Dr. Trichy SV Radhakrishna Sastrigal’s excellent write up (in the preface of one of his scroes of truly erudite works) on a highly insightful guidance provided by Sri Maha Periyava related to the consistency between some scriptures and a couple of great Kshetrams such as Pandaripur and Kohlapur.

Following are the slokams from Sathasathi Praathaanika Rahasyam part that appear to be referenced by Sri Maha Periyava as being consistent with Sri Mahalakshmi Thaayar in Kholapur Bramhasri; this is as described by Bramhasri SV Radhakrishna Sastrigal in his preface:
मातुलुङ्गं गदां खेटं पानपात्रं च बिभ्रती।
नागं लिङ्गं च योनिं च बिभ्रती नृप मूर्धनि॥५॥
तप्तकाञ्चनवर्णाभा तप्तकाञ्चनभूषणा।
शून्यं तदखिलं स्वेन पूरयामास तेजसा॥६॥

I also used to suffer from this “painful” thought. But that was only up to the time I made a close study of Ananthasayanam [Padmanabha Swamy] picture.
I noticed that from his navel rose the umblical chord at the tip of which we see Sri Brahma seated. This makes it obvious that Sri Mahavishnu is Mother Goddess as only a Mother can have an umblical chord.
I then followed his right hand casually dropped to his side below. I observed more closely and noticed that he is performing a pooja to a Sivalingam there, tied to his middle finger [of the right hand] is a bell.
Therefore Sri Mahadeva is universal Father and Sri Mahavishnu is universal Mother — whether someone likes it or not. Fusioned together they constitute the mahamantram of Gayatri which is a ferocious Power. But in order to present a benign look to a devotee Gayatri has taken the form of a Mother — after all who can be more affectionate to her children than a Mother?
[I read somewhere that Gayatri mantram in its permutation-and-combination form is the mantra for Brahmaastra — the ferocious male form]
What treasures ! How can we repay, and in what kind, to Mahans like Dr.Radhakrishna sastrikal for the monumental works he has done in his life time. In my childhood, I knew him only as an Ayurvedic doctor, as my parents have taken me there a few times. If only I had known what a great soul he was !
