Ram Ram Sir – The caption does not say Maha Maha Snanam but only Sri Periyava Snanam. All I mentioned was about getting the clip in Whats app and what it said. As you mentioned rightly, Sri Periyava Snanam is great in itself than doing these Punniya Theertha Snanams. Ram Ram
I doubt if this is a clipping from a previous Mahamagham. The previous utsavams of Mahamagham were in 2004, 1992, 1980, 1968, 1956, 1944, etc. Any body can tell for sure that neither in 2004 nor in 1992, Periyava performed Mahamagha snanam (at least in the sthula shariram) since in 2004, He had already attained videhamukti and 1992, He had confined Himself to remaining on his aasanam, having taken up ajagaravritti. In 1980, He was in the middle of the Satara Pada Yatra and did not visit Kumbhakonam for the Mahamagha snanam. From 1966 to 1968 He was in the Andhra Pradesh yatra. And Certainly not in 1956, for Periyava in the video does not match how He looked in 1956. And certainly we can rule out the previous utsavams from 1944 onwards. My idea here is not belittle the effort of sharing this video, but to rather debunk a group of people that want to go around giving wrong tags to Periyava’s photos and videos. Few months ago, a picture was doing rounds with the caption that it was Periyava’s pattabhishekam. Periyava clearly looked well above his 35-40s in that picture, and His age at the time of his Pattabhishekam was just 13 years! Periyava’s snanam is indeed a great event by itselff and performing snanam in that tirtham would be greater than having a bath in either Mahamagham or Kumbhamela at Triveni Sangamam. But please avoid such wrong captioning.
