  1. Rama Rama

    A streak of thought..

Picturising the vendors near our maha swamy brindavanam.

Can be little far away from the premises..

No commercial transactions…No distractions.. Not even other voices… Only whisper between me and my guru..

  2. where it is purchase

  3. Mr. Mahesh, I have been thinking of wearing rudraksham. Can you suggest as to where can I get. I am now in Chennai.

  4. Today Many Rudraksha Sellers are there . They have agents in Nepal and Indonesia . From there they buy at Cheaper rate and sell at huge Price and get a Huge profit. . Say 8 Mukhi is Ganesh Rudrahka is sold from Rs1800 to Rs 4500. There are fake also one’s in the Market.
It has become a Big Business .. Most are Marvadis from North are the sellers. It is better , when you able to Visit nepal or Indonesia , get a known person and buy Original at 80% less than Indian Market rate. It is big business now. 1 Year back many So Called Laptop Astrologers-Call them also ran Astrologers use to ripe Innocent people purse by charging huge amount for Rudraksha’s.Now Awareness had come. so the Sales had come down.

  5. Mahesh
I was really surprised to see this article in your blog, which has all along been the ‘Voice-of-Mahaperiyavaa’.
Personally I do not believe in these categorisations as Rudraksha is only a tool to help you in your spiritual path.

Ekamukhi Rudrakshas are NOT available and NOT sold.
They are very rare and what ever they sell outside is mostly fake.
During my recent sojourn to the Himalayas, I was informed by one Sanyasin that Eka-Mukhi Rudrakahsa is grown only once in 12 years in a tree. If it is not plucked in the right time then it withers away.
So the chances of getting a genuine Eka Mukhi Rudraksha is very rare.

The best quality Rudrakshas are grown in Uttarakhand, but we also get inferior varieties from Nepal and Indonesia.
Today in India, there is another seed called badraksh which is a poisonous seed, which grows extensively in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and surrounding areas. This looks very similar to Rudraksh but will not have the same effect.
So if your want a Genuine Rudraksha, then get it from a Good Shop, even if you have to pay a little more,

I still remember that Maha Periyavaa gave one ‘Gowri-Shankar-Rudraksha’ to my friend Vedamurthy mama, during 1986/87 when he had some health issues. (he had undergone a Heart-Operation at that time)
Miraculously Vedamurthy never had any major problems after that for quite a long time, though he had to stay alone at Pondicherry for a year or so.

So whatever may be the face/quality of the Rudraksha, if it is Blessed/Given by a Guru then it is more than a Eka-Mukhi Rudraksha.

  6. While no one is sure about the link between the birth star and rudraksha , it is very rare to get multi-mukhis barring the 1, 2 ,3 and 5 which are very common; with eka-mukhi being expensive. Keeping dwi-mukhi and doing japam with sakthi-panchakshari will bestow all the desires; ikam or param.

  7. Dear Sri. Mahesh,

Is this has a reference or acceptance or there an expressed views on this?

Clarity will keep away commercial interests and follow ‘Deiva Vakku’ as many of us follow the blog in toto as it reflects Sri Acharya’s Mahavakyam

    • Dear Sir,

Not sure if I am following your question fully. These views are not blessed by any Periyava, if that’s what you’re asking…This is only a general guidelines on rudraksha. This has no commercial motive….This is similar to lucky stones for each zodiac / birthstars..That is why, I called it out that one should check with your astrologer before wearing anything.

      • Dear Sri Mahesh

Thanks for the revert… For many of us the words in ‘Sages of Kanchi’ are Periyava’s Mahavakyam and to a great extent to be followed… There are many things that changed in me from the post of ‘Sages of Kanchi’…

Birth Stone, Luck etc., are of no value when we get our Guru’s Dekkshanyam..

Kindly consider not posting those which are either not blessed by Sri Acharyas or their Maha Vakyams or related to them… It is my prayer to and leave it to you.. He will do what is best.

        Pranamas

      • Good point….well taken…will avoid these in future….

  8. 1. அஸ்வினி /Aswini– ஒன்பது முகம் / 1-mukhi.

Which one is correct Mahesh Garu?

  9. Such information is nowadays found in Tamil books dealing with Astrology, Temples, Pariharas, etc. Some people are also conducting camps in cities recommending (and selling) Rudrakshas on the basis of individual horoscope, which they also cast on the spot on a computer! They go a step further and recommend Rudrakshas in combination- ie more than one!

In all such cases, we should check the credibility of the writers and the authenticity of the sources. Above all, we should check whether the source is Vedic (Vaidika) or Agamic or Tantra. They belong to/represent different levels of the spiritual hierarchy. One should be careful if some Siddha is invoked.

One should check the purpose for which such Rudrakshas are recommended- whether for worldly purposes or as aid in spiritual sadhana. The two are not necessarily compatible. Some people recommend Rudrakshas for relief from ailments. One should check.

One should also be careful about the sources from which/whom the Rudraksha is obtained/received. it seems to be best when it is received from a genuinely religious person/ Guru of sufficient acquaintance. We should be wary of accepting such things from strangers.

It would be interesting to know about the experiences of those who have used Rudraksha in this manner.

    • nicely said….
may be it would be better to stop with what periyava has said.
      regds
      narasimhan

      • 100% I agree. Most of this parihaaram, gem stone, beads, rudraksham etc are pure commercial deals for astrologers and advisors.
Wherever there is a pramaanam ( authority) for such statements based on reliable texts, we can consider them authentic.
Last 50 years, 1000s of books and articles are written by quacks who make a living.
Better still, we purely stick to Sri Mahaperiyava’s life and teachings

  10. While it will really be good to get the appropriate Muka/s , is wearing different muka Rudraksha not helpful if one cannot get hold of the right muka Rudraksha.?
Also all are not very conversant with identifying the correct number of Mukas in a Rudraksham?

    R. Sivasankaran, London

  11. But you will generally get only six mukas all over!!!!!

  12. pl check ur english and tamil ones. for example mrigasirisham 1 mukthi and tamil it is 3. which is correct?
