Here is what Periyava says in Dheivathin Kural:
ஸ்ரீ ருத்ரத்தை கனம் என்ற கிரமத்தில் சொல்கிறபோது நம் ஆசார்யாளின் நாமமான “சங்கர” என்பது பதின்மூன்று முறை வருகிறது. பதின்மூன்று unlucky [துரதிருஷ்ட] நம்பர் என்பது நம் சாஸ்திரப்படி தப்பு. நல்லதையெல்லாம் செய்கிறவர் என்று பொருள்படுகிற ‘சங்கர’ நாமம் பதின் மூன்று முறை வருவதும் இதற்கு ஒரு சான்று.

I agree… 13 has nothing to do with good or bad… it is all in our minds.
During school admission in Coimbatore the school authorities omitted the ‘h’ in my name…(due to the belief that ha, sha, ksha, ja, etc… are Sanskrit sounds). So my name became Rajarajeswari – 13 beautiful letters!…. My parents also apparently didn’t notice…Much later when people told me that I should add a h and make it 14,, I laughed it off.
Whichever way one says it, it is the name of the Goddess! And I firmly believe… “naal en seyum, vinaidhaan en seyum, enai naadi vandha kol en seyum, 13 dhaan en seyum.. Periyava anugraham irukkaiyile”
can some one please please help me with periyava slokas to get reunite with my husband . I am separated from my husband , i dont know where he is living now . i want him back in my life . please someone help me .
Aparna, I remember reading in this blog about Mahaperiyava’s suggestion for this…
He recommended reading “Shiva Sahasranama” as given in Linga puranam. We eagerly await the good news that you are reunited with your husband.

“When Sri Rudram is chanted as Ghanam, the name Shankara occurs 13 times. Shankara means one who does good to the whole universe. When such an auspicious name occurs 13 times, how can we consider 13 to be an unlucky number?”
