Not sure which year was that. I was in the matam during my India trip and as you can see Sri Balu mama did not get sanyasam at that time. When I requested a photo, he took me to this place and he asked me to take a picture in front of this banner where he is there with Periyava.
When I was going through the media library of Periyava photos, in almost 60% of the photo, mama is there with Periyava!!!!

I am deeply saddened to know the news that SRi Balu Swamigal has attained samadhi.Swamigal was indeed a noble and a blessed soul to have served Periava who is none other than Lord Dakshinamurthy , for More than four decades.What a simple,noble and an austere life was led by Balu Swamigal!! Some years ago,I do not know the exact year,while visiting my relative in an Hospital at Mylapore,I saw mama was admitted in the next room.That was before mama took to Sanyasa.I could get a fleeting glimpse of him through the door which was partly open and he was sitting in the bed talking to someone The mere sight of him immediately brought to my mind Mahapeiava,because mama could be seen in any photo of Mahaperiava.He was inseparable from the Guru and certainly the Guru Mahaperiava would have taken him to be by his side in Vaikuntham!! On that day I wanted to offer my namaskarams to him,but I missed it ,as I did not want to trouble him in the Hospital.I am sure Balu Swamigal will bless us all and accept my Humble pranams at HIS HOLY FEET. Namaskaram. I am new to Maha Periyava and only just 1 month back I started reading, watching about HIM. Strangely, past 3 days before Balu Mama departed I was watching his 10 min youtube clip where he describes how Maha Periayavaa left his body (“தானாவே விட்டுட்டா, மகானோல்யோ!”). I watched that clip everyday and every time i heard it I had tears welling up. And yesterday I heard this news and somehow I thought Balu Mama would have departed the same way. As I am typing this I hear my office mate’s phone ringtone “Jaya Jaya Sankara, Hara Hara Sankara”. Don’t know what to say.
I met him twice at Kanch Mutt and got his blessings when I visited India in 2014. I took with me my niece before her engagement day and made her sing “நம்பிக் கெட்டவர் எவரையா”song . He was very happy and advised her to continue with our culture. He shared his experience with Mahaperiyava…the second time I visited in the same trip, I sat at his feet for a long time and then did namaskaram….he blessed me saying,”தொங்கத்தொங்க திருமாங்கல்யத்தோட, தீர்க்க சுமங்கலியா இருப்பாய்”. What else do I need??? I am visiting India in Feb. first week and planned to visit him and get his blessings….He will bless me from his Adhishtanam definitely….. My namaskarams to Balu Swamigal…..
Balumama photo, is yet another confirmation that the soul has attained the lotus feet of Maha Periva to continue his divine services even at Kailasam.

I am so saddened by the news that ‘Balu Mama’ as he was affectionately called by all Periava devotees, had attained sidhdhi. He was like a shadow of MahaPeriava for decades. One should have done a lot of Punya Karma to be born like him and lived life like him. No one could have been more fortunate than him. We can only pray to MahaPeriava, to grant us this boon of living a similar life in our next Janma,.
