திண்டிவனம் பக்கத்துலே ஒரு பத்தாவது கிலோமீட்டரில் இருக்கிற நல்லாம்பூர் அப்படீங்கற ஒரு சின்ன கிராமம். இந்த ஊர்ல தான் நான் பிறந்தேன். என்னுடைய தகப்பனாரோட தகப்பனார், அதாவது என்னுடைய தாத்தாவும், மகா பெரியவாளோட பூர்வாசிரம தகப்பனாரும் ரொம்ப நெருங்கின சிநேகிதாளா இருந்தவா. ஒரு சமயம் பெரியவாளோட தகப்பனார் என்னுடைய தாத்தாவிடம், “கிருஷ்ணசாமி, உனக்கு இவ்வளவு நில புல சொந்தம் எல்லாம் இருக்கே, இதெல்லாம் எப்பவும் நிரந்தரமா இருக்கும்னு நினைச்சிண்டு இருக்கியா ? இதெல்லாம் காணாமப் போயிடும் ஒரு நாள். இதெல்லாம் இருந்ததுன்னே தெரியாமப் போயிடும். அப்படி ஆயிடும். ஆனா என்னென்னிக்கும் இருக்கக் கூடிய ஒரே ஒரு விஷயம் மட்டும் உண்டு. அது கல்வி. அதனால ஒரு சின்ன ஸ்கூல் ஒண்ணு இங்கே நீ ஆரம்பிக்கணும். அதுக்கு உனக்கு என்ன வேணுமோ என்னாலான உதவியை நான் கட்டாயமா செய்கிறேன்” என்று சொல்லியிருக்கிறார். அவர் Education Department – ல் Inspector of Schools ஆக இருந்தவர்.
1903-ல் ‘நல்லாம்பூர் துவக்கப் பள்ளி’ அப்படீங்கற பேரில் என் தாத்தா ஒரு பள்ளியை ஆரம்பித்தார். 1905-ல் அந்தப் பள்ளிக்கு recognition – ம் கிடைத்தது. அந்த மாவட்டத்திலேயே முதன் முதல் recognition கிடைத்த பெருமையும் அந்தப் பள்ளிக்கு உண்டு. அதன் பின்னர் பல வருடங்கள், அந்தப் பள்ளி Inspection – க்கு மஹா பெரியவாளின் தந்தை வந்திருக்கிறார். எங்கள் ஆத்தில் எல்லாம் தங்கியிருக்கிறார். அதை நாங்கள் மிகவும் பெருமையாக நினைக்கிறோம். எங்கள் தாத்தா காலத்திற்குப் பிறகு எங்க அப்பாவின் management – ல் இந்தப் பள்ளிப் பணி continue ஆகிக் கொண்டிருந்தது.
ஒரு காலக் கட்டத்தில் எல்லாப் பள்ளிகளையும் பஞ்சாயத்துக்குக் கொடுத்து விட வேண்டும் அப்படீன்னு ஒரு ரூல் கொண்டு வந்தா. அந்த காலக் கட்டத்தில் private management – ல் இருந்த பல ஸ்கூல்கள் மீது பல complaints வந்த காரணத்தால் அரசு இந்த ரூலைக் கொண்டு வந்தது. இந்த ஆணை பற்றிக் கேள்விப்பட்டவுடன் எனது அப்பாவுக்கு மிகவும் மனக் கஷ்டமாகி விட்டது. உடனே என் அப்பா என்னையும் அழைத்துக் கொண்டு, பெரியவாளை தரிசனம் செய்து விட்டு வரக் கிளம்பி விட்டார். எனக்குப் பனிரெண்டு வயதிருக்கும் அப்போது பெரியவா அப்பாவிடம், “சிவன் சாரோட தகப்பனார் உன்னோட வீட்டில் தங்கியிருந்து ஆகாரம் எல்லாம் பண்ணியிருக்கிறாரே, உனக்குத் தெரியுமா ?” என்று கேட்டார்.
எனது தகப்பனாரும், “அமாம், தெரியும்” என்று கூறியிருக்கிறார். “சரி, என்ன விஷயமா வந்திருக்கே?” என்று பெரியவா கேட்டார். என் அப்பா விஷயத்தைக் கூறியவுடன், ” சரி, எழுதிக் கொடுத்துடு. ஒண்ணும் ஆகாது” என்று சொல்லி பிரசாதம் கொடுத்து ஆசி வழங்கி அனுப்பி வைத்து விட்டார். பெரியவா பேச்சுக்கு மறுப்பேது? பஞ்சாயத்துக்கு எங்கள் பள்ளியைக் கொடுக்க சம்மதிக்கிறோம் என்று எழுதிக் கொடுத்து விட்டார் என்னுடைய அப்பா. இது நடந்து சில நாட்களுக்குப் பிறகு ஒரு ஆர்டர் வந்தது. அதைப் படித்தவுடன், சந்தோஷத்தில் குதிக்கிறார் என்னுடைய அப்பா. ஒன்றும் புரியவில்லை எங்களுக்கெல்லாம். கடைசியில் என்னவென்று பார்த்தால் அதில் கீழ்க்கண்டவாறு எழுதியிருந்தது.
“There are lot of complaints on the schools in this district. But, this particular school, “Nallambur Aided Elementary School” which was started in 1903 and got recognized in 1905 that is currently run by the son of the founder. There is not even a single complaint on this school. Hence this school can be continued to run under the present management. Rest of the schools in this district can be given to Panchayat.”
இந்த ஆர்டரைப் பார்த்த சந்தோஷத்தில் உடனே என்னையும் அழைத்துக் கொண்டு காஞ்சீபுரம் கிளம்பி விட்டார் என்னுடைய அப்பா. பெரியவாளை நமஸ்காரம் செய்தோம். “பெரியவா அனுக்ரஹத்தில் எல்லாம் நல்ல படியாக முடிந்தது” என்று கூறினார் அப்பா. அதற்கு பெரியவா சிரித்துக் கொண்டே, “காமாட்சி அப்படிப் பண்ணிட்டாளாக்கும்!” என்று கேட்டார். என் அப்பா, “பெரியவா, நீங்க எழுதிக் கொடுத்துடு, ஒண்ணும் ஆகாது அப்படீன்னு சொன்னப்ப நிஜமாவே எனக்கு ஒண்ணும் புரியலே… எழுதிக் கொடுத்துடு… ஒண்ணும் ஆகாது-ன்னா எப்படி அது அப்படீன்னு நினைச்சுண்டிருந்தேன்.
ஆனா பெரியவா சொல்றா… நாம பண்ணிடணும்னு அப்படியே பண்ணிட்டேன். இப்பதான் எனக்கு அதுக்கு அர்த்தம் புரிகிறது” என்று கண்களில் ஜலம் மல்க நமஸ்காரம் செய்தார்.
இந்த மாதிரி பனிரெண்டு வயது சிறுவனாக நான் இருந்த காலத்திலேயே , “எல்லாமே நான் தான்!” என்று என்னை ஆட்கொண்டு விட்டார் மஹா பெரியவா!”

Yes, this is one more of the divine acts of Mahaperiyava.
Incidentally, this is one of the private schools started by a Hindu Indian during British times. Those days the colonial government was spreading Macaulay education through mainly Christian missionary schools and government schools . Yet, individuals could start private schools on their own. Now, 70 years after Independence, can such schools be started with such ease?
Government has tightened its control on the education system, school system has become costly, those who start or run schools have to have political connections, private managements have to kowtow to the authorities at all stages in all manner, in the name of secular education all traces of moral teachings have been eliminated, elements of Indian culture are systematically discredited, the story of invaders is taught as our history, their atrocities are whitewashed, true Indian history is obliterated from the syllabus and on the whole Indians-Hindus- are taught to be ashamed of their own heritage. And private schools run by Hindus have to submit to RTE formalities,, while schools run by so called minorities are exempt. Yet, the average Hindu family has no choice but to send their children to such schools.
Great act of Devotion by the school founder. He obeyed Maha Periyava to the core. Maha Periyava’s Blessings came in abundant measure. Has the school further progressed? Hara Hara Shankara, Jaya Jaya Shankara!

English translation.
There is a small village called Nallambur about 10 kms from Dindivanam. I was born in this village. My father’s father and MahaPeriyava’s Poorvashramam Father were very close friends. Once Periyava’s Father told my father, “Though you have a lot of land, relatives etc, do you think all this is permanent ? All of this will go away one day. There will remain no trace of them. But there is one thing that will last forever. That is knowledge. So you should start a small school here. I will do whatever help I can for you.” He was Inspector of Schools in the Department of Education.
In the year 1903, my grandfather opened a school called Nallambur Primary School. That school also got recognition in 1095. In fact that school was the first one in that district to get recognition. After several years, MahaPeriyava’s Father had come to that school for inspection. He used to stay in our house. We are very proud of this fact. After my grandfather, the school continued to function under my father’s management.
After some years, a rule came in to bring all schools under the Panchayat management. This rule was brought in because there were many complaints against privately managed schools. As soon as he heard about this rule, my father was very upset. Immediately, my father started to take MahaPeriyava’s Darshan and took me along. I think I would have been 12 years old then. Periyava asked my father, “Sivan’s Sir’s father has stayed in your house and has also dined there. Do you know this ?”
My father said, “Yes, I know.”
Periyava asked, “Ok, so why have you come to see Me now ?”
My father explained the situation to Him.
Periyava replied, “Ok, give a letter to them (with your consent). Everything will be allright (ONNum aagaadu)”, gave Prasadam and sent us on our way.
How can we go against Periyava’s orders ? My father gave a letter stating our consent to hand over the school to the Panchayat. After this happened, an order came a few days later. My father was literally jumping with joy after reading that letter. We were wondering what happened. That order had the below content.
“There are lot of complaints on the schools in this district. But, this particular school, “Nallambur Aided Elementary School” which was started in 1903 and got recognized in 1905 that is currently run by the son of the founder. There is not even a single complaint on this school. Hence this school can be continued to run under the present management. Rest of the schools in this district can be given to Panchayat.”
In the joy after reading this letter, my father started to Kanchipuram taking me along. We fell prostrate in front of Periyava.
My father said, “Due to Periyava’s grace, everything is fine now”
Periyava laughed and replied, “So, looks like Kamakshi has fixed everything!”
My father said, “Periyava, when you said, ‘Ok, give a letter to them. Everything will be allright’, I really did not understand the real significance. But since Periyava has issued an order, I just carried out your orders. Only now, am I able to understand the real significance of Your words”. Tears welling up in his eyes, he again fell prostrate in front of Periyava.
So, in this way, even when I was just 12 years old, MahaPeriyava completely enveloped me.
What a great and true Sanyasi is periyava ! – Sivan siroda appa ungal veetil….
