தேனம்பாக்கம் சிவாஸ்தானம்..பெரியவா முகாம்.
பெரியவா ஜன்னல் வழியாக பக்தர்களுக்கு தரிசனம் தரும் இடம். பெரியவாளுக்கு அருகில் அணுக்கத் தொண்டர்கள். அவர்களில் ஒருவன் என் மருமான் நாராயணன்.
”நாராயணா” என இயல்பாகவே பெரியவா குரல் ஒலிக்கிறது.
”ஏன் ”என்ற பதில் குரம் என் மருமான் நாராயணனிடமிருந்து வருகிறது. விஷ்ணுபுரம் சாது நாராயணன் என்றால் தெரியாதவர்கள் இருக்க மாட்டார்கள்.
”அட..நீ இங்கேதான் இருக்கியா?” என்று புன்முறுவலுடன் பெரியவா கேட்கிறார்கள்.
”உனக்கு இதயம் பற்றித்தெரியுமா?”
”கடிகாரம் மாதிரி அது டக்..டக் என்று அடித்துக் கொள்கிறதே கன கணக்காய்! அது எப்படி?”
பெரியவா எந்தப் பேச்சுக்கு அடி போடுகிறார் என்று தெரியாமல் அவன் மௌனம் சாதிக்கிறான்.
”கடிகாரத்தைப் பார்த்து இதயம் ஓடுகிறதா? அல்லது இதயத்தைப் பார்த்து கடிகாரம் கண்டுபிடித்தார்களா?”
”கடிகாரத்தில் பல்சக்கரம் பழுதானால் துடிப்பு தடுமாறிப்போகிறது;அது போல் இதயத் துடிப்பும் அப்படி தடுமாறுவது உண்டாமே..உனக்குத் தெரியுமோ?”
”ஆமாம்..இப்படி ஒரு இதயக் கோளாறு ஏற்படுவதுண்டு என்று கேள்விப் பட்டிருக்கிறோம்”..பலர் சேர்ந்து கோரஸாகக் குரல்!
அப்போதைக்கு அந்தப் பேச்சு நின்றுவிடுகிறது.
நாராயணன் சென்னை செல்லும் பஸ்ஸில் அமர்கிறான்..பக்கத்தில் அமர்பவர் ”சென்னைக்கா?” என்று கேட்கிறார்.
கண்டக்டர் வரும்போது இவனுக்கும் சேர்த்து டிக்கட் வாங்க முனைகிறார். இவன் ஏன் அவர் தனக்காக வாங்க வேண்டுமென மறுத்துவிடுகிறான்.
;;நான் ஒரு இதய டாக்டர்..பெரியவா உங்களிடம் பேசியதைக் கேட்டேன். நீங்கள் சொன்னால் நான் ECG கருவியோது வந்து பெரியவா அநுமதி தந்தால் முறைப்படி டெஸ்ட் செய்கிறேன்” என்றார்.
”சித்தம் போக்கு சிவன் போக்கு” என நினைத்து மறுத்து விடுகிறான் நாராயணன்.
ஆனால் டாக்டர் விடுவதாயில்லை.”.நாம் முயன்று பார்க்கலாமே” என்று சொல்லி , மறு நாள் கருவியோடு வந்து விடுகிறார்.
அன்று குருவாரம்..என் வீட்டு வாசலில் ஒரு கார் வந்து நிற்கிறது. காரில் வந்த டாக்டரை எனக்கு அறிமுகம் செய்து வைத்து”புறப்படு” என்கிறான் நாராயணன்.
”எங்கே”
”எங்கே..பெரியவா தரிசனத்துத்தான்!”
கரும்பு திங்க கூலியா?
உடனே புறப்படுகிறேன்.
நாராயணன் அணுக்கத் தொண்டர்களில் ஒருவனாகக் கலந்து, மேற்படி விஷயத்தை அவர்களிடம் சொல்கிறான்.
”அதெல்லாம் முடியாது, அன்று ஏதோ சொன்னார் என்று நீ பாட்டுக்கு அழைத்து வந்தால், நாங்கள் பாட்டு வாங்கிக் கட்டிக் கொள்ளமுடியாது” வேண்டுமானால் நீயே போய் சொல்லிக்கொள்”
நாராயணன் ஒன்றும் பேசாமல் எங்கள் அருகில் வந்து நிற்கிறான்.
தரிசனம் கொடுக்க ஜன்னல் அருகில் வந்த பெரியவா”இன்னிக்கி வெங்குடி டாக்டர் வருவார் இல்லையா குருவாரமாச்சே”என்று கேட்கிறார்.
”வருவார்ன்னுதான் நினைக்கிறேன்”
”அதெப்படி? நான் வரச் சொன்னதாக அவருக்குச் சொல்லி அனுப்பு”!
பெரியவா சொன்ன சில நேரத்தில் டாக்டர் வெங்குடி தாமாகவே வந்துவிடுகிறார்!
திரென்று பெரியவா”நாராயணா.. யாரையோ கூட்டிக் கொண்டு வந்திருக்கியே.. அவர் யாரு?”
”ஒரு டாக்டர், என் மாமா எல்லாருமாக வந்திருக்கோம்…
”அப்படியா? அவரை வரச் சொல்…” தொண்டர்கள் என்னை துரத்தாத குறையாய் என்நை ஓரம் கட்டுகிறார்கள்.
”யாரையும் தடுக்காதே”
உடனே எல்லாரும் வரிசையில் நகர்கிறோம்.
”பக்கவாத்யக் காரன் போல் உன் கையில் என்ன அது..கருவி?”
”ECG கருவி அன்று பெரியவா பேசியதைக் கேட்டு எடுத்து வந்திருக்கேன்”
கருவியை ஜன்னலில் வைத்து ரப்பர் குழாயை நீட்டுகிறார் டாக்டர்.
”ஒத்தரும் தொடாமல் நானே வெச்சுக்கலாமா?”
டாக்டர் எப்படி பசையை ஒட்டிக் கொள்ளவேண்டும் என்று சொல்ல அது போலேயே செய்கிறார் பெரியவா..
பெரியவா பொருத்திக் கொண்டதும் ECG கருவியை இயக்குகிறார் டாக்டர்.
”பெரியவா வயசுக்கு ஏற்ப இதயத்துடிப்பு சரியாக இருக்கு”
”அது நீ சொல்லித்தான் எனக்குத் தெரியணுமா?”
டாக்டர் உடனே கன்னத்தில் போட்டுக்கொள்கிறார்.
”சிலசமயம் பல்ஸ் மிஸ் ஆகிறது என்கிறாளே.. அது என்னது?”
”இரண்டு, மூன்று பல்ஸ் தப்பினால் ஒண்ணும் இல்லை”
”இதிலிருந்து என்ன தெரிகிறது?.. எது மிஸ் ஆனாலும்.. நாம் மிஸ் ஆகாமல் பார்த்துக் கொள்ள ஒருத்தன் இருக்கான் இல்லையா”
”உடம்புக்கு ஒன்றும் இல்லையே…உடம்பைப் பார்த்துக் கொள் என்றெல்லாம் சொல்கிறோம்; யார் உடம்பை..யார் பார்த்துக் கொள்றது? உயிர் பிரிந்தால் உடம்பைப் பார்த்துக் கொள்ள முடியுமா?உடம்பையும் உயிரையும் பார்த்துக் கொள்கிறவன் அவன்! அவன் அன்றி ஓர் அணுவும் அசையாது என்கிறோமே…அவன்தான் பெரிய வைத்யன், வைத்யோ நாராயண ஹரி: என்கிறோமே அதனால்தான்.உடம்புக்கு உடம்பு வராமலும் பார்த்துக் கொள்வான்;உடம்பே ..வராமல் ..மறு ஜன்மா இல்லாமலும் பார்த்துக் கொள்வான்…மக்களுக்குப் பிணி வந்தால் உங்களைப் போல் டாக்டர்கள் வைத்யம் பார்க்கிறீர்கள் . அதனால் உங்கள் தொழில் புனிதமானது; அதனால் ஏழை எளியவர்களுக்கு இலவச வைத்யம் செய்யணும்” என ஒரு நீண்ட சொற்பொழிவே நிகழ்த்தினார்.
இதுதான் சித்தம் போக்கு..சிவன் போக்கோ?

Thank you Maheshji, my intention was not to hurt, but to inform of these kinds of fictions floating on the name of fact. Yourself can see the anomoly here, when Sri Mahaswamy is advising not to use sticker bindhi for ladies as it may contain gluten which may then be equivalent to Gho hatya paapam, will he himself set a wrong example by using these ecg gell on his body?, moreover, we dont need ECG to hear heart beat. I request you to please speak with Sri Veezhi maka ASAP through phone and get this clarified.

There are certain yard sticks I use. If an article is referred by some authentic resources such as Dr Veezhinathan, HH Balu Swamigal, Sri Ganesa Sarma or referred in a book that came out, I would assume that they are authentic. Else I wont even post. This posting had a reference that Dr Veezhinathan quoted it somewhere. So I assumed it is authentic. I am not knowledgeable enough to say whether an article is genuine or fake – rather, I dont have the time to do that research – nothing wrong in doing that…I will ask Veezhi mama when I meet him in December about this incident.
Thank you Sri Venkateshwaran Sridharan, I am sorry to observe that even Sri Maheshji is allowing such posts to float..these kinds of misinformation is a great apacharam to an acharya. I hope Sri Maheshji quickly identifies and remove these weed articles from the healthy ones. I see lot of these abroad people having the guilt of leaving India and try to seek some excuse through Mahaswamy’s life, so are the people who are doing deplorable acts against Shaastras, but still seek a stamp of spproval from Mahaswamy.. I have only one thong to them to say.. Mahaswamy will never approve such anti shaastra or adharma. You can always empty your account of sins by leaving the abroad life and trying to live a simple and contended life in a town or village in India near a temple and give the best of education and job to your kids and grandkids in India. You need not wait till your retirement..you can very well take the step at any point on your life and Sri Mahaswamy will then only help you in your dharmic life.. else dont degrade mahaswamy for these mundane things like, I forgot my pencil, Mahaswamy helped to get it, I ran out of petrol and the pump was 10 mins walk and Mahaswamy sent a person to give petrol, blah, blah.. Mahaswamy is a philosopher stone. You can either use it to make Gold like asking him to offer salvation in life..or you can use the stone as gronding stone.. like asking mundane stuff.. the choice is yours..

I have been saying the same thing several times at the risk of looking like a non-believer. 90% of the stuff floating around in the internet through FaceBook, such blogs and forums is just pure fiction. None of these events have really happened in the lifetime of Sri Mahaperiyava.
Even if something had happened it is magnified and manipulated 100 times just to sound interesting, inspiring and dramatic. Same complaint applies to the many speakers and publishers who have been making careers and profits using life of Sri Mahaperiyava.
Well-intentioned blogs like the present one also cannot resist the urge to entertain posting of such spurious accounts since majority of the members also visit the blogs, forums and FB etc only to look for such stuff.
Having had darshan of Sri Mahaperiyava almost every year during the period 1974 to 1994, I can assert with authority that HE never used to indulge in the verbose exchanges being portrayed. A hand gesture or a stern but compassionate glance was what even the familiar sishyas mostly received with some getting fruits or dry fruits directly.
Only the anukka thondars used to regulate the queues and if a sishya had to have his message conveyed to Sri Mahaperiyava, he had to inform and request the anukka thondar in advance. Even then, it did not work many times.
On the other hand, in all these fictitious accounts, we read that HE called over people from the queue, engaged with them in long discussions, responded point by point , brought a logical conclusion to the conversation etc. NEVER, I say, NEVER this used to happen!
And then there are further imaginary episodes which quote names of persons who were known to be close to HIM. But there is no way of verifying any of these accounts.
The Souvenir brought out by Sri Matam on the Centenary year has the only set of authentic accounts.
Everything else in the internet is IMAGINATION I dare say!
I am no less ardent a sishaya of Sri Mahaperiyava and a follower of HIS teachings, so noone should misinterpret what I have posted above
I doubt this article. First periyavaa never used to contaminate his sareera with gell of medicines. Its against shaastra. Second, even for his eye operation, he did it in a kalyana chatram without anesthesia. Third, when Periyavaa was not confined to bed, I dont know if ECG was available. Fourth, it would be much easier to check using a sthethoscope or checking the pulse if the heart was functioning rather than have the ECG. There are many articles floating around net where people are trying to project their own whims and fancies on Mahaswamy..a novice will believe them to be truely said by Mahaswamy. If these people giving new stories just mention them as a fiction of their own imagination, that should help Maheshji sort these out.

“உடம்பார் அழியில் உயிரார் அழிவர்
திடம்பட மெய்ஞ்ஞானம் சேரவு மாட்டார்

உடம்பை வளர்த்தேன் உயிர் வளர்த்தேனே ” என்பதை எளிமையாய் புரோய வைக்கிறார்!!

Periyava thiruvadikaley saranam. Jeya jeya sankara hara hara sankara
Of course, every incident connected with or every word uttered by Mahaperiyava has some significance. In a longish narration, some finer points get obscured. This piece contains two great gems.
1. “Vudambukku vudambu varaamal paarthukkolvaan”. Oh, what a fantastic way of saying that God removes the prospect of rebirth! We may meditate on this.
2.Doctors’ profession is sacred; so, they must attend to the poor and destitute without charging fees.
Allopathy is inherently costly. The organised medical profession ( better to call it ‘trade’ or business) is now literally looting the public. Individual doctors with conscience and sense of concern for the public find it extremely difficult to practise, since they lack peer support and the advantages of professional organisation. I know doctors who have give up practice, rather than be part of the looting and cheating gang.
But there are also noble examples. I knew one deputy collector in Ahmedabad who was practising homoeopathy. On enquiries, he told me that he was a trained Ayurvedic doctor- he belonged to a family of traditional Vaids. But he changed over to homoeopathy when in the course of his practice, one poor villager threw away the medicines he gave in his presence because they were accompanied by lot of ‘patyam’ which cost money the poor could not afford- such as taking lot of milk, buttermilk, ghee, etc! This made him reflect and he switched over to homeopathy. He was charging just a rupee for any medicine- for the bottles, the sugar pills,etc. He bore the cost of medicine as an act of charity!
Today, all systems of medicine are costly. But more than that, the doctors are heartless and also plain dishonest. When they spend lakhs to get medical seat, education, and set up practice with all the equipment, their mind is on getting back the money, not on service!
Sri Ramakrishna used to say that he could not accept any offering made by doctors (and lawyers) because they made money on the misery of the people! (Incidentally, many Brahmins took to these two professions till recently! The Reservation policy has changed that. And who knows, it may all be for the good of the Brahmins themselves as they are prevented from entering sinful professions!)
I had read long ago another incident connected with Mahaperiyava. When he was on his yatra in the North Karnataka region, one doctor visited him on a wheel chair. He was obviously ill. It seems when this doctor prayed to Mahaperiyava for relief, He asked the doctor ” Do you remember what you did/how you behaved in your younger days?” It was probably in one of the articles. I wish some devotee is able to locate it.
Incidentally, it would be a good idea to compile Mahaperiyava’s advice on the professions, and the incidents connected therewith.

There is a mention of Visnupuram Narayanan, Mahaperiyava’s anukka thondar in this narration. Kindly assist me in knowing the details of Vishnupuram and the story of that place. Few years back, i read the story book (Sahitya Acadamy winner book named ” Vishnupuram ” by writer Jayamohan) Vishnupuram. A must read book, which narrates many things including our Hinduism and it’s greatness. Please enlighten me if details available. Jaya Jaya Sankara, Hara Hara Sankara.
This Vishnupuram is NOT Jayamohan story / novel titled “Vishnupuram”.
It is one of the 18 Grama Vaathimaa village ( Kumbakonam, Nachiyarkovil, Mayuram Bus route).
Vathima sect of Brahmins live, in and around Kumbakonam / Mayuram / Thiruvarur / Nagapattinam area, and there are 18 villages and hence the name “18 Grama Vathimaas”.
18 grama Vathimaas have special connection with Mahaswami and Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam.
