1963 ஆம் ஆண்டு மதுரை மீனாட்சிஅம்மன் ஆலயத்தில் கும்பாபிஷேகம் நடைபெற்றது. காஞ்சி பரமாச்சாரிய சுவாமிகளின் முன்னிலையில் முக்கிய நிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடத்தி வைக்கப்பட்டன. அப்போது அங்கே வந்திருந்த முன்னாள் அமெரிக்க தூதர் டாக்டர் ஆல்பர்ட்ஃபிராங்க்ளின் தனது அநுபவத்தை விவரிக்கிறார்;
“ மீனாட்சி அம்மன் ஆலயத்தின் விமான மண்டபத்தில் கூடி இருந்த முக்கியப் பிரமுகர்கள் மரியாதையுடன் விலகி வழிவிட்டார்கள். ஒரு முதியவர் மெல்ல நடந்து வருவதை கண்டேன். அவர்தான் காஞ்சி பரமாச்சாரியசுவாமிகள் என்று புரிந்து கொண்டேன். அவர் எளிமையே உருவானவர். அவர் தனது ஆன்மீக சக்தியைத் தவிர வேறு எதையும் தனக்கென்று வைத்துக் கொள்ளவில்லை. முழுமையான துறவு மிக உயர்ந்த நிலை என்பதை எல்லா மதங்களும் கூறுகின்றன. ஏசு கிறிஸ்து அதைத்தான் தன்னிடம் “நான் காப்பாற்றப் படுவதற்கு எது தேவை?” என்று கேட்ட பணக்காரரிடம் கூறினார்.
இங்கே தமிழ்நாட்டின் கலாசாரம் மிகுந்த நகரில் முக்கியமான ஆலய கும்பாபிஷேக விழாவில் கூடி இருந்த பிரமுகர்கள், செல்வந்தர்கள், முதலாளிகள் அனைவரும் அந்த எளிமையே உருவானவரிடம் கைகட்டி நிற்பதைக் கண்டேன்.
அந்த முதுமையான உடலுக்குள் அதிசயக்கத்தக்க பலமும் மனோதிடமும் இருந்தன. இரும்புக்கம்பிகளைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு அவர் மளமளவென்று கோபுரத்தின் உச்சிக்குச் செல்லும் படிகளில் ஏறினார். கைத்தடியை ஊன்றிக்கொண்டு பிராதன வாயிலின் மையப் பகுதியில் அமர்ந்து கொண்டார். அனைவரின் கரங்களும் அவரை நோக்கிக் குவிந்தன. கும்பாபிஷேக விழா முடியும் வரை அவருடைய பக்தர்கள் கட்டுப்பாடுடன் அமர்ந்திருப்பதைக் கண்டேன்!”
ஆல்பர்ட் ஃபிராங்க்ளின் ஆச்சாரிய சுவாமிகளின் அறுபதாவது ஆண்டு விழாவில் கலந்து கொண்டு பேசினார். மத எல்லைகளைக் கடந்து அங்கே வந்து பெரியவர்களின் ஆசிகளைப் பெறும் தகுதி கிடைத்ததற்குப் பெருமை கொள்வதாகக் கூறினார். அவர் பட்டம், பதவி, பணம் எதையும் பொருட்படுத்தாவிட்டாலும் பாரத மக்களின் பெருமையை உலகெங்கும் பரப்பும் ஒளிவிளக்காகத் திகழ்வதாகக் கூறினார்.
இருபத்தோரு வயது நிறைவதற்குள் பாரத தேசம் முழுவதையும், கால்நடையாகவும் பல்லக்கிலும் சென்று மக்கள் அனைவரையும் ஆசிர்வதித்து, கலாச்சாரப் பெருமையையும் ஆன்மீக உணர்வுகளையும் தூண்டி ஒளிபெறச் செய்த பெருமை மகா சுவாமிகளுக்கு உரியது. இந்த வகையில் அவரை பாலகனாக இருந்து பாரததேசத்தின் பெருமை ஒளிவீசிட திக்விஜயங்களின் மூலம் நிகழ்த்திய ஆதிசங்கர பகவத்பாதருக்கு நிகரானவராகவே நான் கருதுகிறேன் என கூறினார்

why has no body written about Dr. Danton ( i think that is his name – the french who was always with periava and was continuously having his darshan and periava even used to ask us to stand apart so that he has uninterrupted darshan of periava. Perhaps Balu mama(swamigal)may be able to tell or kumaresamama or induvasan would be able to explain how dr.danton used to follow periava during the entire karnataka maharashtra padayatra!!!

IN the year 1963, the Kumbabhishekam function was performed at the Madurai Meenakshi Amman temple. The important events therein were performed in the Holy Presence of Kanchi Paramacharya. Former Ambassador of the United States Albert Franklin who was present there describes his experiences.
“Important personalities who had gathered in the Vimana Mandapam respectfully gave way; I saw an old man slowly making his way forward. I realised that He was Kanchi Paramacharya Swamigal. He was simplicity personified. Apart from His spiritual strength, He had no other material possessions. All religions state that complete relinquishment is the best state. That is what Jesus Christ said in response to a question a rich man once asked Him “What will save me?”
In the cultural capital of Tamil Nadu, during the Kumbabhishekam festival of this important temple, I saw VIPs, influential people, owners of business establishments standing in deference to the One who was Simplicity Personified.
There was admirable strength and steely resolve in the frail old body. Holding the steel railings, He hurried up the stairs leading up to the top of the Gopuram. Leaning on His Dandam, He sat near the main entrance. Everybody brought their hands together to do Namaskaram to Him. I saw His devotees seated in a disciplined fashion till the Kumbabhishekam function got over”
Albert Franklin spoke during the 60th Birthday Celebrations of Mahaswamigal. He expressed pride in being eligible of getting His blessings – cutting across religious lines. He said that even though He possessed no money and position, He was a torchbearer of India’s cultural richness to the world.
Before He turned 21, He crisscrossed across India both on foot as well as on his Pallak, blessed everybody and made people take pride in our cultural and spiritual richness. He said He emulated Adi Shankara BagavadPada in the way he spread the message about India’s greatness by way of his Victory Marches.
