“The Bull circumambulated His birth room!”

With a cow

We celebrated the Aradhanai of MahaSwamigal at Villupuram Shankara Matam yesterday with Avahanthi Homam, Rudra homam, Abhishegam etc. Many devotees participated with religious fervour and got the blessings of Maha Periava.I am narrating a strange incident that happened yesterday. As the pooja was going on in the central hall of the Matam,,there was a red Rishabam(bull) at the entrance of the Matam .We offered him some banana fruits. He ate them but unexpectedly, he climbed up the steps and entered the premises!

We were taken by surprise by this and gently drove him out. After a few minutes,he was again at the gate and we got him Agathi Keerai( for Rs. 50) ,thinking that he was still hungry. He ate all of it but again entered the building and had to be shooed away. This happened repeatedly seven to eight times, every time we would prod him with a stick and he would go away, only to return again, climb up the steps into the building … We were beginning to get exasperated, not knowing how to deal with the situation.

Here, I have to tell you about the Matam-for those who have not visited this place- the Avatharasthalam is a small room on the right hand side near the entrance and this room is considered as the Sannidhi .It houses Periava`s Padugai and Panchaloga Idol -where
pooja and Abishegam are done daily .

This bull, for the last time, entered the building , walked along the passage but did not come straight into the hall where the homam was under progress but suddenly turned right into the narrow passage along the sannidhi, ,,circumambulated the room and climbed down the steps and went away and did not return again!

What do you make of this?!! < Shankara>

To me , it appeared as though it was the Rishaba deva offering pradhakshinam to his lord Parameswara on this special day! What other explanation can be there for this curious episode?

Everyday, by performing various miracles in the life of many devotees, MahaPeriava is showing us that He is always among us, guiding us in our daily material life as well as in our spiritual pursuits .We are indeed blessed!

Jaya Jaya Sankara, Hara Hara Sankara!

Wishing you all a very Happy, Peaceful and Prosperous New Year!

Dear Sri. Suresh,

Thanks a lot for posting my mail in the Sage of Kanchi. I request you to post the following reply as well..

“My thanks to all devotees who have shared their thoughts on this post. and for their valuable feedback. Very happy to note that this incident has given joy to many.

To Sri. L, Sorry, we did not have the presence of mind to take a snap at that time and so we dont have a photo. I had mentioned the amount spent only to convey the fact that even after consuming a substantial amount of keerai, the bull kept coming back again and again. It was meant to emphasize my impression that he could not have still been hungry and that there must have been a reason beyond hunger which had prompted such a behaviour.

This is my first post(actually a part of a mail to a friend) and I am yet to learn how to write in a public forum. Kindly bear with me! “

Thanks once again for your initiative. Wishing you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Jaya Jaya Sankara! Hara Hara Sankara!

Best wishes and regards, Rukmani Anantaraman.

  1. Superb miracle and divine incident . The responses of fellow Devotees bring in a lot of Beautiful Sath Sangha. Thanks. Jaya Jaya Shankara, Hara Hara Shankara! Maha Periyava ThiruvadigaLee charaNam!

  2. Awesome
The Vedic scholars who performed the Aradhana of Maha Periyava with homams and abhishekam with their sincere devotion are Mahans. It is the sacred Homams and the devotion of the Vedic scholars, mutt staff and the bhaktas who witnessed the Aradhana brought Sri Nandi Devar from heaven to witness the Aradhana. He accepted their offerings of bananas and keerai. Awesome indeed. Sri Nandi Devar, by doing a pradakhshina of His Birth Place showed us Maha Periyava still lives among ourselves and blesses us. Those devotees who offered Nandi Devar bananas and keerai are Bhagyashalis.

can we please have the video of this Aradhana posted.

Thanks a lot to Chiranjeevi Mahesh for posting this miraculous incident.

  5. the incident clearly shows that sri maha periava is with all of us, HIS humble devotees.
HE will guide us wherever we are
hara hara sankara jaya jaya sankara

  6. SUPER DIVINE FEELING !!!!the purest mind is the place where the LORD RESIDES so the sanctified MAHA PERIYAVA IS BEING worshipped by NANDI MAHARAJ TO prove and advice to the worshippers [bhaktas] to do the same

  7. What more proof is required that He is Parameswaran Himself ! [as if proof is required… !]

  8. Superb –

Truely miraculous is Mahaperiyavaa’s miracle here too with his vahana, Vrushabam. I remeber Mahaperiyavaa’s anukka thondar ( kaimkarya para ) swami, telling an incident when Maha Periyava was making fun of his foot prints saying that they are like the swaggering marks of how a bull would urinate, when the Anukka Thondar said – ‘Swamigal himself is the Nandi – Vrushabeshwaran’ – for which Maha Swami said – ‘so be it’. Swamigal has himself stated his presence as Nandeeshwara in this episode.

There was similar such incident in a Vishnu temple @ Thiruvelliankudi – near Oppiliappan Kovil, when there was a homam that was taking place, when from no where, a big Garudan bird came flying and sat on the center top of the RajaGopura kalasam and witnessed the whole incident and once the homam ended flew away as silently as it came. Fortunately someone captured the whole thing in video and I am giving the link where the video of this miracle was captured –

    http://anudinam.org/2013/12/22/thiruvelliyangudi-sri-kolavilliramar-thirukkoil-balalayam/

If you scroll down, you can see the actual video and photo of the Garudan witnessing the homam.

Yesterday also, I had the grace of Mahaswami to be at Govindan Ghosala ( http://www.goseva.net ) with Sri Radhakrishnan mama and Sri Mannargudi Rajagopala shastrigal swami for the sivarathri muttan for Viraja homam. When Sri Sastrigal mama narrated an incident when one of his guru once stopped a Vedic class to hear the chirping of a squirril and said the correct raagam for it. It seems he explained later to the class that birds and animals have an inherent knowledge of Vedic tones. For example, he said, the rooster ( cock ) crows in different raga one for each day in the morning.

    Thanks and regards,

    P. Vijay

  9. Really those are blessed to witness Sun a Miracle . It only shows how grounded and humble we should be to seek such a blessing and Darshan of Rishabhavahana. And Cow is it self considering as Go Maata so indeed The New Year will start With Motherly Affection Shri Shri Mahaperivaa. But Why Mention amount of Agattikeerai and pl can u post the picture of The Gomata which we can atleast witness in the Snap.

Jaya Jaya Shankara Hara Hara Shankara

  10. I had the grace of periyavaa to see this sthalam when it was not altered into the present day modern building as well as it present day position as a veda patasala with around six children. I can recall the event in the life of Sant Gnaneswarar when he made a buffaloo sing Sama Veda to the utter surpise of the grand assembly of veda pandits in the village of Paithan, who refused to give the Sant a patram that would allow the brahmins in the Sant’s village to intitate the orphaned Sant and his brothers as a dwija by vesting them with the upaveedam. Periyavaa birth place has revealed a similar miracle and has been able to make bull remember its past or perhaps it was nandidevar himself who was there…and we as ordinary mortals as Guru says can only pass conjectures…

    Regards,
    N Subramanian

  11. What can we mere mortals say? Jaya jaya sankara hara hara sankara!

  12. Outstanding…. What a divine play by Him??.

  13. Jaya Jaya Shankara Hara Hara Shankara ……No Words to Express …. Its miracle ……Really Periyava Is Always With Us ……….

  14. A miracle indeed.

  15. HARA HARA SHANKARA……JAYA JAYA SHANKARA…….
