பண்ணி வெக்கற வாத்யாருக்கு மந்த்ரங்களோட அர்த்தம்தெரியாட்டாலும், பண்ணிக்கற ஒங்களுக்கெல்லாம் அர்த்தம் புரியாட்டாலும்,எந்த கர்மாவுக்கு எந்த மந்த்ரம் சொல்லணுமோ….அதை செரியா சொன்னா,அதுக்குண்டான பலனை அது குடுக்கும்– பெரியவா

செகந்தராபாதில் பெரியவா முகாம். அப்போது ரயில்வேயில் மூத்தஅதிகாரிகள் சிலபேர் பெரியவாளை தர்சனம் பண்ண வந்தனர். அவர்களுக்குஒரு பெரிய குறை. அது என்னவென்றால்……….

“பெரியவாளோட அனுக்ரகத்தால எங்களோட கர்மானுஷ்டானங்களைஎல்லாம் கூடியவரைக்கும் விடாமப் பண்ணிண்டு இருக்கோம்.ஆனா………இந்த ஊர்ல, பூஜை, ஸ்ராத்தம், தர்ப்பணம் இதெல்லாத்தையும்சரியாப் பண்ணிவெக்க, வேதம் படிச்ச சாஸ்த்ரிகள் இல்லே! ஒரேஒர்த்தர்தான் இருந்தார்…….அவருக்கும் பண்ணி வெக்கும்போது அவர்சொல்ற மந்த்ரங்களுக்கு அவருக்கே அர்த்தம் தெரியலை……..அர்த்தம்தெரியாம கர்மாக்களை பண்றதை, எங்காத்து பிள்ளைகள் ஏத்துக்கமாட்டேங்கறா……..இந்தக் காலத்து பசங்களாச்சே! அதான்……பெரியவாதயவுபண்ணி மடத்துலேர்ந்து யாராவது வேதம் படிச்ச சாஸ்த்ரிகளா பாத்துஇந்த ஊருக்கு அனுப்பிச்சுக் குடுக்கணும்” என்று ப்ரார்த்தனைபண்ணினார்கள்.

“ஒங்காத்து பிள்ளைகள் சொல்றதுலேயும் ஞாயம் இருக்கு……….” என்றுஅவர் ஆரம்பித்தபோது, ஸ்ரீமடத்துக்கான அன்றைய தபால்களை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு ஒரு postman வந்தார். பெரியவா மேலாக சில கடிதங்களைப்படித்துவிட்டு, ஒரு லெட்டரை எடுத்தார். அதில் PIN என்று இருந்த இடத்தைஅந்த அதிகாரிகளுக்கு சுட்டிக் காட்டி, “PIN ..ன்னு போட்டிருக்கே…..அதோடஅர்த்தம் தெரியுமா?”ரொம்ப சாதாரண கேள்விதான். ஆனால் அந்த அதிகாரிகளுக்கு தெரியவில்லை. கொண்டுவந்த தபால்காரருக்கும் தெரியவில்லை.”POSTAL INDEX NUMBER ” என்று தானே அதற்கு விளக்கமும் குடுத்தார். சிரித்துக்கொண்டே அந்த அதிகாரிகளைப் பார்த்து ” நீங்கள்ளாம் நெறையபடிச்சு பெரிய உத்தியோகம் பாக்கறவா………ஆனா, சாதாரண தபால்ல வர PIN க்கு ஒங்களுக்கு அர்த்தம் தெரியலே……..அவ்வளவு ஏன்? PINCODE ன்னுஎதையோ எழுதின அந்த ஆஸாமிக்கே கூட அதோட அர்த்தம் தெரியாமஇருக்கலாம். ஆனா……….PINCODE ன்னு போட்டிருக்கற எடத்ல சரியானநம்பரை எழுதிட்டா……..அது சரியா போய்சேர வேண்டிய எடத்துக்கு போறாமாதிரி………பண்ணி வெக்கற வாத்யாருக்கு மந்த்ரங்களோட அர்த்தம்தெரியாட்டாலும், பண்ணிக்கற ஒங்களுக்கெல்லாம் அர்த்தம் புரியாட்டாலும்,எந்த கர்மாவுக்கு எந்த மந்த்ரம் சொல்லணுமோ….அதை செரியா சொன்னா,அதுக்குண்டான பலனை அது குடுக்கும்! அதுல ஒங்களுக்கு எந்த விதமானசந்தேஹமும் வேணாம். அதுனால, இப்போ இருக்கற ப்ரோஹிதரைநிறுத்தாம, நீங்க பண்ண வேண்டிய கர்மாக்களை ஸ்ரத்தையோடபண்ணிண்டு வாங்கோ! ஒரு கொறைவும் வராது!” கையைத் தூக்கிஆசிர்வதித்தார்.

அதிகாரிகள் விக்கித்துப் போனார்கள்! ஒரு சாதாரண, அன்றாடம் கவனத்தில்கூட வராத PIN னை வைத்தே, எப்பேர்பட்ட பெரிய சந்தேஹத்தைபோக்கிவிட்டார்!

“It does not matter if the Vadyar (conducting the ritual) does not know the meaning of the Shloka he is chanting, it does not matter if the people (doing the ritual) who are listening do not know the meaning of the Shloka; if the Dharma(religion/caste)-specific mantras are chanted correctly, it is guaranteed that they will give the desired results” – Maha Periyava.

MahaPeriyava was camping in near Hubli. Some senior Railway officials (including Shri Hubli Ramaswamy mama) had come there to take His Darshan. They had come with a major grievance.

“With MahaPeriyava’s grace, we are following the prescribed Dharmaanushtanams as much as possible. But in this town, there is no qualified Vedic Pundit to help us carry out Pujas, Shradhams and Tarpanams correctly. One person was there but he too does not know the meaning of the Mantras he says. Consequently our children – as the wont of this generation’s children is – are not prepared to accept (the shlokas without knowing the meaning). MahaPeriyava should kindly consent to send some Vedic Pundit from SriMatam to this place”

MahaPeriyava replied “There is a lot of sense in the stance of your children”. Just then a postman carrying the letters to SriMatam came there. After having gone through the mail, Periya picked up one letter. He pointed out the space in which the PIN code was written to the officials.

“Do any of you know what is the expansion of the term PIN” ? Though it was a very simple question, none of the officials knew what it meant. Whatsmore, even the postman did not know what it meant.

Then MahaPeriyava Himself said “Postal Index Number”.

Smilingly he addressed the railway officials, “All of you are highly educated people holding senior posts, but none of you know such a simple thing as the expansion of PIN. Even the person who wrote it may not know what it means. But if one writes the right number in the space meant for PINCODE, the letter automatically reaches the right destination. Similarly, it does not matter if the Vadyar (conducting the ritual) does not know the meaning of the Shloka he is chanting, it does not matter if the people (doing the ritual) who are listening do not know the meaning of the Shloka; if the Dharma(religion/caste)-specific mantras are chanted correctly, it is guaranteed that they will give the desired results. You need have no doubts about the matter! So, do not discontinue the Vadyar who is there currently; just do your rituals (Dharma) sincerely with dedication. You will not face any problems !”

So saying, he raised His hand in blessing.

The officials who were listening were spellbound. Such a high philosophy using the simple analogy of PINCODE !
