காஞ்சி மகாப்பெரியவரை தங்கள் குருவாக ஏற்றவர்கள் எத்தனையோ பேர் உண்டு. வாழும் தெய்வமான அவரை, இன்றும் கூட பலரும் மானசீக குருவாக ஏற்று வருகின்றனர். ஆனால், அந்த குரு, தனக்கு குரு என்று யாரைச் சொன்னார் தெரியுமா? தெரிந்தால், மிகவும் ஆச்சரியப்படுவீர்கள்.
மகாபெரியவரிடம் அளவற்ற பக்தி கொண்ட ஒரு பணக்கார பக்தர், அடிக்கடி காஞ்சி மடம் வந்து பெரியவரைத் தரிசித்து செல்வார். ஒருமுறை, அவர் தனது குடும்பத்தாருடன், தான் வாங்கிய புதிய காரில் மடத்திற்கு வந்தார். அவர் அருகிலுள்ள கலவை கிராமத்திற்கு சென்றுள்ளார் என்பதை அறிந்து, அங்கு சென்றார்.
பெரியவரைத் தரிசித்த அவர், சாவியை பெரியவரிடம் கொடுத்து,
“பெரியவரே! தங்கள் தொட்டு ஆசிர்வதிக்க வேண்டும்,” என்றார்.
பெரியவர் அவரிடம், கலவையில் ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட இடத்தின் பெயரைச் சொல்லி,
“நீ அங்கு செல். அங்குள்ள மரத்தின் அடியில், ஒரு பெரியவர் தாடி மீசையுடன் படுத்திருப்பார். அவரை உன் புதுக்காரில் அழைத்து வா,” என்று உத்தரவிட்டார்.
பெரியவர் சொன்னபடியே, அவரும் அங்கு சென்று அந்த முதியவரை அழைத்து வந்தார். இருவரும் பெரியவர் முன்னால் அடக்கமாக நின்றனர்.
பெரியவர் பணக்காரரிடம்,
“இவரை யாரென்று உனக்குத் தெரியாது. ஏன் அழைத்து வரச்சொன்னேன் என்றும் தெரியாதல்லவா! இவர் தான் எனக்கு குரு. நான் துறவுப்பட்டம் ஏற்பதற்காக காஞ்சிபுரத்தில் இருந்து கலவைக்கு வந்தேன். அங்கிருந்து என்னை “ஜட்கா’வில் (குதிரை வண்டி) அழைத்து வந்தவர் இவர் தான். வரும் வழியில் ஸ்ரீமடம் குறித்தும், அங்குள்ள நடைமுறைகள் குறித்தும், தனக்குத் தெரிந்த மொழியில் (இயல்பான பேச்சு) எனக்குச் சொல்லிக்கொண்டே வந்தவர். அவர் மூலம் பல விஷயங்களை நான் அறிந்து கொண்டேன், அது மட்டுமல்ல, மிகவும் ராசியானவரும் கூட. அவர் கையில் சாவியைக் கொடுத்து வாங்கிக்கொள், நலமாய் இருப்பாய்,” என்றார்.
ஆச்சரியப்பட்ட பணக்காரர், அந்த முதியவரிடம் சாவியைக் கொடுத்து வாங்கிக் கொண்டார். ஜாதி மதம் பாராமல், தனக்காக ஜட்கா ஓட்டி வரும் போது, இயல்பான தகவல்களைச் சொன்னவரை தனது குருவாக ஏற்ற மகாபெரியவரின் பரந்த மனப்பான்மையை புகழ்வதற்கு வார்த்தைகள் ஏது!
அந்த தெய்வத்தை நம் மானசீக குருவாக ஏற்று, அவரது நல்லாசியுடன் உயர்ந்த நிலையை அடைவோம்.

I have read this article at least 4 years back in a book. Besides, this is not a court matter – to verify, validate etc. Who has the time to sit and fabricate stories about Periyava?! Let us read this and take the good thing from each article as opposed to going through the investigative route 🙂

it is important that such narrations are quoted with due references. This is important to preserve the integrity of content on this blog. Otherwise, such accounts would be no more than fantasising by over zealous devotees of Sri Mahaperiyavaa.
