I agree with kahanam. Sri Adishankara was flanked by his four disciples who were at par. My humble opinion is that this portrays our acharyas and paramacharya to be at par…could have been avoided. (If we think of Paramacharya, we feel the image of Dakshinamurthy. Portraying him as Nataraja could not be relished even if it was the outcome of Bhakthi…Bhakthi should go with reality)
Could Sri Adishankara and Sri Sureswaracharya not have Blessed our Most Respected Thirimurthys when the Three Acharyas of our days were together? An outstanding adaptation – the first two Acharyas, the two current Acharyas and the One who is a reincarnation of Sri Adishankara!

It looks nice but as it never happened, this picture could be considered a false image only. Sri Adi Sankara and his four disciples in the picture which is well known is remembered by every one. I do not think Maha Periyava would have approved of this. He has instructed painter Maniyam once that further pictures like the one which he painted for Kalki DeepavaLi Malar in which Maha Periyava was followed by Goddess Kamakshi, should not be painted by him. However Bhakthi knows no limits and in that sense such pictures may be popular. I am sorry if I hurt anyone by this, but Truth remains as such! Maha Periyava ThiruvadiGaLee CharaNam!
i do see periyava as natarajar dancing etc – it looks very odd for a sanyasi to be painted that way – but it is just one way of portraying.. let us not over-engineer small things…these pictures/photos are outcomes of bakthi….
It is really nice to see Maha Periyava, Pudu Periyava and Bala Periyava seated along with their Guru.We have not seen the original disciples but we do recognise the three Periyavas as the disciples of Adhi Sankara.Periyava will be happy to see this as it is not like kamatchi following priyava.Great understanding of Guru Bakthi

May be you may mention all the names for the benefit of those youngsters who are not familiar with our tradition. Great creative imagination. One suggestion. in our enthusiasm to put our beloved periavas at a higher pedastal, i am not sure, if we can tamper with the great guru parampara of adi acharya and his prathama shishyas. i doubt if even maha periyavaa would have approved of this. but again this is just my humble opinion.
Pls put in a foot note so that those who do not know the original background do not get confused. Gurubakthi is very important. But our over enthusiasm should not mislead innocent persons who do not have knowledge of Adi Sankaras lineage. Pranams to you. Apologies, if you feel that I have exceeded my limits.
