Nearly 20% of the readers are willing to contribute. Thanks to all who have pledged. With my sincere prayers to Periyava I am going to accept these donations. Hope Periyava will guide me….Your support and encouragement is immense. Above all, your trust in me makes me feel more responsible and nervous at the same time !
Here are few points to remember::
1. I am going to have you all pay to my personal account (both in India and in US). If you are in US and need tax advantage from this contribution, pl let me know. If you are in India and need tax deduction, not sure if I can help you. Regardless, pl email me separately at mk.netid@gmail.com.
2. For making payments, from last time’s experience, I want to make this very easy to manage with all my professional commitments etc. With that in mind, I am not going to accept any physical cheques in India and will accept only electronic transfer. As most of us now use net banking, hopefully it should not be an issue. If this is an issue, pl let me know via email/comments here.
3. Folks not in India, US and Canada, please ask someone in India to transfer the funds to my account.
4. When you make the payment, please drop an email with your name and contribution amount so that I can maintain a record of all donations.
5. Any drive has to have an end date. I would like to keep this drive open for 2 months. By end of May, I want to close this drive.
6. Last but not the least, the guidance I provided of $64 or Rs 2400 was based on Periyava’s calculation. It is NOT the minimum amount. I do know that many feel that Rs 2400 is a small amount. However, it is a very relative statement. With that in mind, I want to state that there is no min and no max amount set for this drive – I will accept anything.

Tried to transfer amount to your HDFC a/c thro’ my Indian Bank site. Before transferring, I included your name and bank details. But in the Account category, ‘NRO ACCOUNT’ is not included in the site. Hence failed. What is that you would like to do for people like me. Kindly reply. p.s.mahadevan.
I have received funds from others. I am not sure why it would fail only for you? I dont think you even need to mention NRO account etc. all you need is the account # and the other codes.Can others help?
This is a very good initiative. Little drops make an ocean..
Regarding the challenge faced by shri.psmahadevan: at times interbank transfer fails. He should ensure he maps the account in Inter bank – Transfer – NEFT – Category. In fact – the name that we mention in this step is for our reference and it need not match the a/c holders name. you can store it as veda samrakhanam also. Please make sure you map the a/c no and IFSC code properly.
By the way, I dropped into an HDFC branch to deposit money and they refused to collect money for NRO accounts. I will try it another branch.

How about contributing direct to Veda Rakshana Nidhi Trust. Their account details are available with us. No offense meant to Mahesh – but direct contribution to the Trust gets people like me from India get Sec.80(G) exemption also under IT ACT. WE wont get it if you pay to any individual’s account.
