  1. I feel the same.so I searched in website and found your post.If we are reading their charitas both are similar except upavasas .Great

  2. Both are same…both are still guiding us in our day to day life…

  3. hara hara sai ram jaya jaya shankara

  4. y no video interviews??

  5. Amazing. No words to express what i feel. Both are one and the same. So compassionate and loving that they touch the core of your heart.

  6. Since 2005 when i read this incident in “Sage of Love and Grace” by Shri Bharanitharan, when Periyava asking Sri Bharanitharan about Sri Seshadhri Swamigal, my humble view is Periyava is Siva Sorupam. Seshadhri Swamigal is Sakthi / Ambal Sorupam. So Periyava (Siva) asking will i have ever become like Seshadhri Swamigal (Sakthi/Ambal)? Can i ever reach that (Sakthi/Ambal) Super eminence?. This earth has the most fortunate period to have all the three, Periyava (Siva), Seshadri Swamigal (Parvathi) and Rama Maharishi (Skanda) at the same time. Those who had darshan of all the three are most fortunate. Did Periyava ever met Seshadri Swamigal and Ramana Maharishi?

  7. A correction to my earlier post. By mistake I have typed ‘when I blessed’, it should be ‘when I am blessed’.

  8. Sri.Bharanidharan got a large sized portrait of Sri Sesahdri Swamigal as per Periyava’s specification and took it to Thenampakkam. Periyava moved and sat very close to the portrait and observed it closely. Then periyava folded his legs, placed his hand on his chin as in the portrait and asked “Swamigal is sitting like this, is it not? For a moment Sri.Bharanidharan could not distinguish between Sri Seshadri Swamigal and Periyava. He was thrilled by this rare sight and paid obeisance to both of them by falling at their feet.

On another occassion, dwelling on the eminence of Sri Seshadri Swamigal, Periyava asked Sri Bharanitharan “Enda will i have ever become like Seshadhri swamigal, Can i ever reach that super emienence?. Sri Bharanitharan emotionally said ” நான் வணங்கும் தெய்வமே இப்படி கேட்டால் சேஷாத்ரி ஸ்வாமிகளின் நிலை எப்படி இருக்கும்?

  9. “All in One and One in all” is what comes to my mind when I blessed to see this picture. I pray to HH Maha Periyava to bless with a picture of HIM and Sri Seshadhri Swamigal. I read in one of the post that HH Maha Periyava used to sit in the same posture as what Sri Seshadri Swamigal used to sit.

Periyava. Please give your blessing to see that photo.

  10. Sri. Maheswaran,

I have been a regular visitor to your site (everyday) but never posted any comments. First off, you are the chosen one, as you are doing a fantastic job at the behest of Maha Periyava.

Sivan manifests in many forms. Satya Sai Baba, Maha Periyava, Dattatreya Siva Baba, Yogi Ram Surat Kumar, Venkatarama Siddhar amongst others. So what? HE blesses us. I am so pleased by others’ comments here. They are all so devoted to HIM.

    AUM Chivya Namah.

    DEAR MAHESH,

GREAT……………JAYA JAYA SHAnkara hara hara shankara sree sai shankara

  12. What a similarity. Gurus destroy darkness and guide us to the correct path. My compliments to you for bringing this similarity between the two great Gurus. Jaya Jaya Sankara, OHM Sri Sairam
    vijaya

  13. THE GURU comes to us in the form that we need the most, whether we are individuals or a community, or all of humanity, desperate for guidance and solace. Recall the story of the Avadhuta Dattatreya and his twenty four preceptors? I think, in fondnes, that in recent times, Vivekananda came to re-kindle the fire of true kshatriyatva and sacrifice in the inert Bharatiya. That Periaval came to illuminate for us the paths of discipline, austerity, and practice of Svadharma, which we have forgotten and discarded leading to the sorrows of society. That Shiradi Baba came at a time when humanity has fallen victim to dark forces of divisiveness. That Ramana Maharishi came to guide us on our search for the ParaBrahmam to back within us, from the without , where we have got quagmired.

They are All the One and the Same. And if the eyes are the windows of the self, then we see the same One Self, in all these apparently different eyes!

  14. comparison of a Maha Gnani and a Karma Yogi with extreme compassion who was committed to save our Sanatana Dharanma with a Sidha Purushar with all encompassing compassion may not be appropriate.
Shirdi Sai can be compared to Seshadri Swamigal.
    Periaval saranam

  15. So beautiful and so apt, god bless U !

  16. Fantastic. For me it looks like Mahaperiyava looking at Shri Baba just His other Self discussing ulaga samacharam in a leisurely situation.
Further I strongly believe that Sadguru Seshadri Swamigal and Shirdi Baba are the same due to many reasoning done by me.
    Namo Namaha Shri Guru Padhukabhyam

  17. HARA HARA SANKARA, JAYA JAYA SANKARA. HARA HARA SANKARA, JAYA JAYA SANKARA. HARA HARA SANKARA, JAYA JAYA SANKARA. HARA HARA SANKARA, JAYA JAYA SANKARA. JAI SAI RAM, JAI SAI RAM, JAI SAI RAM, JAI SAI RAM.

  19. You are absolutely right. For the past 3 months, whenever I am thinking of Sri BABA ,immediately Sri Maha Periawal gives darshan. This is one of the best example of Athdwitha Philosophy

  20. Both Mahaans are One and the Same! They look alike for the same reason! Jaya Jaya Shankara, Hara Hara Shankara! Om Sri Sairam!

  21. That was the first thought to cross my mind when I saw Mahans photo. So strikingly close to Baba.

  22. Actually that was the first thought that crossed my mind when I saw Mahans picture. So strikingly similar to Baba.

  23. Congratulations for comparing both. T found the first difference from the way they both seated. Thanks you very much.

  24. Dear all DIVINE LOVERS,FOLLOWERS,Glad to have the darshan of OM SRI MAHA PERIYAVA OM SRI CHANDRASEKARENDRA

  25. Divinity stares you in the face from different quarters. Only the ignorant fail to notice and take advantage of it to reach sublime heights of spirituality.

  26. I LOVE IT………. MAHA PERIYAVALLUKKU NAMASKARAMS…

  27. mahesh no doubt. hara hara sankara jai sai ram

  28. Both are brahma gnanis of highest spiritual standards who had shun publicity and adopted to very simple life; Though Shirdi Baba’s origin supposed to be of Islam by birth (it is only hearsay but no one knows, again Mahaans’ are above all religion) ironically he was (is) worshipped only by Hindus. Both of them gave solace and lease of life to those who have totally surrendered to them. Both of them have celebrated Sri Hari (Maha Vishnu) and asked their devotees to do Vishnu Sahasranaamam paaraayanam. Both of them gave much importance to feeding poor people. Maha Periyavaa has performed transmigration (sorry if I have not used the correct word to mean ‘Koodu vittu Koodu podhal’) on many occasions, whereas Shirdi Baba had performed Nava Kanda Mahaa yogam (ripping apart the body into nine parts). The above are just a few, we can talk a lot about them in comparison. Wherever I used past tense it is only to indicate the devotees experiences when they were in their physical form, and their absolute grace is still felt by many ardent devotees. One small difference I could see. Maha Periyavaa has been kind throughout and very rarely one would have seen him getting angry. Here Shirdi Baba can match Sadhguru Seshadri Swaamigal, by his outwardly eccentric behaviour getting angry with people and scolding and bad mouthing them sometimes. However we came to realise that Baabaa was warding off only the bad qualities and the cronic diseases from the persons through this approach.

Both of them give immediate relief to our minds just by uttering their names from the bottom of our hearts. I have attempted to say a few things about the greatest Mahaans of the 20th Century, with my little knowledge and understanding.

Chandrasekhara Chandrasekhara Chandrasekhara Paahimaam Om Sayee Shirdi Sayee Dwarakhaamaayee
Chandrasekhara Chandrasekhara Chandrasekhara Rakshamaam Om Sayee Shirdi Sayee Dwarakhaamaayee

    Mahaa Periyavaa Thiruvadi Saranam

  29. When I looked at this picture this is what immediately in my mind.
“I am there in every soul that practices simplicity and advocates the supremacy of God. Shankara Bhagavathpada said God is one and is in everyone. Shridi Bhaba’s said “Sab kha maalik eak hai”!

  30. i had similar thought when i saw the Periava’s photo some time back.

  31. Dear Mahesh

Superb pictures like that please upload Mahans like real Jeevan Mukthar Chandrasekar Bharathi, Swamigal of Sringeri, Ramana Maharishi.. Regards Raman

  32. CUTE AND GREAT BOTH THE GREATS IT SEEMS ARE DISCUSSING HOW TO HANDLE THE PROBLEMS OF THE DHARANI AND BRING SHANTI TO THE PRITHIVI AND THE WHOLE OF THE BRHAMANDAM AND TO THE MANUKULA INDEED!!!!!!!

  33. I have nothing to offer but for seeking of the blessings of both.

  34. some time ago when i happened to see the picture of mahaswamigal same thing flashed in my mind also .. there is needless to say that our mahaperiya is all-in-one .. Jaya Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara

  35. Superb

  36. sab ka malik ek hai…….there is only one above……advaita philosophy!!!!!good one and why any one should be furious. none will be if he is an ardent of mahaswami. i for one is a great devotee of both shirdi and kanchi!!!!!

  37. Mei silirkuthu!

  38. Stunning similarities – A good comparison.

  39. Nice one,all great people are alike in simplicity, the way they live and teach 🙂
My dad also said the quality of the periya kural CD had less clarity
    Mangala

  40. I have already wondered about this likeness when I first looked at this photo of Mahaperiava long time ago. You have brought it out now. Similarly, there is a pose of Periava looking up with the Dhandam on His right hand where He has the likeness of Bagavan Ramana Maharishi.

  41. Sankara Ram and Sairam – Dr.T.Venugopal

  42. Jai mahaperiva

  43. both are saints of a very high order. both have helped humanity in various ways. one follows the tradition meticulastly imparting a love of humanity. both their lives are very simple costing nothing and that way both are beggars. the have done a great service to human beeings even though the belong to diif religons, if imay say so .i venerate both of them.

  44. Very interesting comparison indeed. Earlier, I had listened to an episode in youtube (one of your interviews only) where the interviewee says Mahaswamigal gave dharshan to his mother as Ramanar (wearing kaupeenam) and also spoke like Seshadri Swamigal. Infact these, in addition to your post makes me wonder whether realized souls look like one another atleast at some point of time.

    Regards

  45. Blessed to see both Mahan Gurus at a time. Thanks for bringing this to our heart.

  46. guruve saranam

  47. In 2002, I had an experience with both Sri Shirdi Sai Baba and our Mahaswami in a dream. The dream started with Sri Shirdi Sai Baba giving a message to my wife as she had some personal prayer at His temple earlier. In the end, Baba asked to me to hold His feet. As I did my prostration holding His feet and lifted my head up, I was seeing our Mahaperiyavaa instead of Shirdi Baba. I asked Mahaperiyavaa how He came there and where Baba went.

His Holiness smiled and told me that I had not still understood advaitA? “innumaa unakku advaitam puriyale?”
He said that there was only ONE and He (Mahaperiyavaa) was none other Sri Shirdi Baba. I woke up feeling blessed.

If there is an opportunity for me to visit Baba temple, I go there and chant “aum namo bhagavate kAmamoTi chandrasekharAya”.

There is only one sadguru and He manifests in the form of several sadgurus.

“sakala devatA swarUpa, sakala mantra swarUpa, sakala tantra swarupa sri chandrasekharendra sarasvati sadgurubhyo namah:”
