We may have read bits and pieces of this, here is the complete version of Devar…. THE ARDENT DEVOTEE OF LORD MURUGA – AMAZING BLESSINGS BY PERIYAVAL—
“Devar was an ardent devotee of Lord Muruga . He used to donate 1 out of 5 Rs Profit to a Murugan Temple. The road to Marudamalai , The Prakhaaram at Thiruchendur and the main Hall in Vadapalani Temple are all his contribution. While Shooting if he wanted the Sun he will shout at the heavens and ask his Murugan to send the Sun out, for him everything was Murugan “recalls Film Producer A.V.M.Saravanan. Director SP.Muthuraman recalls visiting his set in Vauhini Studios when they were shooting the film “Muruhan Adimai”. They had lined up a complex shot of a Peacock, a Bird that just cannot be trained , flying through a series of Doors and reaching the idol of Lord Muruga in the sanctum sanctorum. Everyone was wondering if this would ever happen when Devar stood up Prayed to Lord Muruga and said – You make it happen, I don’t care…. and asked for the Cameras to roll and the peacock to be released. The peacock flew beautifully through the four or five doors and landed at the feet of the Idol . all of us were totally amazes not just at this but at the implicit faith Devar had in God.
When The Paramacharya of Kanchi heard about Devar and the films promoting themes like “Thunaivan”, he sent word to Devar through Mr.Lakshmana Iyer of Ananda Pictures wanting to meet him. Devar was hesitant as he was shooting with MGR. When MGR heard about this he told Devar to immediately go and seek the blessings of the Sage and that he will personally supervise the Shooting of the next few days. Devar and his family rushed to Kalavai where the Paramacharya was camping. He blessed Devar and told him not to worry as Lord Muruga was the watchman in his house and the sage added “if possible put in a good word about me to him”. Devar broke down on hearing this from the Paramacharya .
One day after performing the Kandha Sashti Pooja in Thiruchendur, Devar told those around him that he has been doing this for 12 Years and the next year they will all have to carry on the tradition. Those around him were taken aback and pooh poohed these remarks. Devar used to say that he will pass away on a “sashti” (6th day of the Moon) when the Star was Vishaka, considered to be very auspicious for Muruga , in fact he used to say if it were any other date he will go up and beat Muruga. As he desired he passed away on the 8 th of September 1978 – It was Vishaka and it was a Sashti.”

i would humbly like to add to my earlier comment in this context that since Devar ji was called by HIS HOLINESS to visit HIM i think Devar ji too was a very pious soul &his BHAKTI FOR SUBRAMIANIAN SWAMY too is worth praising setting an example for common puny bhaktas like us
Great is the only term we can use when we think about Sri. Devar, Sando Chinnappa Devar. His firm faith in Sri. Muruga and his benevolent works for the devotees in Marudamalai, Thiruchendur etc are appreciated a lot. He received the blessings of Mahaperiyavaa in Kalavai is some thing remarkable.

Moving incident, as usual. It is a great quality to appreciate good things of any one and as Trikala Gnani, Maha Periva could do it effortlessly. Another incident written by H V R Iyengar is worth recording.
(Hoorav Varadaraja Iyengar) was the sixth Governor of the Reserve Bank of India from 1 March 1957 to 28 February 1962 Once he was asked to meet HH. But Iyengar did not meet Him immediately as he had his own apprehension that HH might seek some help/favour/obligation since Iyengar was the Governor of RBI and that he would not be able to oblige.
Second time also there was a reminder from HH asking him to meet, if possible. This time Iyengar was not keeping well and could not immediately respond. Later when he was touring nearby where HH was camping, he decided to have His dharshan. He approached hesitatingly Perivaa, who straight away came to the subject: “Do you know why I wanted to see you? You had written an article in Vikatan Deepavali Malar, praising your mother. It was a nice one. Since you had expressed about her nicely it shows your regards for your mother. A person having very good respect for his mother must be a good person and so I wanted to see you. That is why called you.!”
Imagine the reaction of the great Governor of RBI. Tears welled on his eyes and felt bad about his unwanted apprehension in meeting such a great Sage.
This blog is truly a Satsang, Mahesh. All people worthy as devotees throng here to have a peek of such a fantastic Jeevan Mukthar, True Saint who enjoyed in abnegation as in prosperity and who brought the Kanchi Mutt to Sun like Glory. Rare gem, to be preserved for posterity.

இதைக் குறிப்பிட மறந்துவிட்டேன். மன்னிக்கவும். நெகிழ வைக்கும் தகவல்கள்.
“முருகனடிமை தேவருக்கு பெரியவா அருளிய அபூர்வமான ஆசீர்வாதம்!”
ஸாண்டோ சின்னப்ப தேவர் திரையுலகில் நன்கு அறிமுகமான ஒரு பெயர். இவர் ஒரு தீவிரமான முருக பக்தர் என்பதும் தெரிந்த விஷயம்தான். தனக்குக் கிடைக்கும் லாபத்தில் 5-ல் ஒரு பங்கை முருகனுக்கு அளித்து வந்தார். மருதமலைக் கோவில், திருச்செந்தூர் சுற்றுப் பிரகாரம், வடபழநி ஆண்டவர் பிரதான முகப்பு எனப் பலவற்றிலும் இவரது கைங்கர்யம் இருந்திருக்கிறது.
படப்பிடிப்பு நேரத்தில் சூரியன் வரத் தாமதமானால் வானத்தைப் பார்த்து, முருகனிடம் வேண்டுவாராம்; உடனே சூரியனும் வந்துவிடுவான் என நெகிழ்ச்சியுடனும் ஏவிஎம் சரவணன் குறிப்பிடுகிறார். ‘முருகனடிமை’ என்னும் படத் தயாரிப்பின்போது, ஒரு காட்சியில் மயில் ஒன்று பல நிலைகளைக் கடந்து முருகன் சன்னிதானத்தில் அவன் காலடியில் போய் நிற்பதுபோன்று ஒரு காட்சி எடுக்கவிருந்தது. சற்றும் பழக்க முடியாத மயில் இந்தக் காட்சியில் என்ன செய்யப்போகிறது என அனைவரும் திகைத்தபோது, முருகனை வேண்டிக்கொண்ட பின், ‘கூண்டைத் திறந்து விடுங்கள். படப்பிடிப்பை ஆரம்பியுங்கள்’ எனத் தேவர் சொல்லிவிட்டு உட்கார்ந்து விட்டாராம். அதிசயிக்கத்தக்க வகையில், மயில் அப்படியே பல வாயில்களையும்கடந்து, பறந்து சென்று, நேரே முருகன் பாதங்களில் சென்று அமர்ந்தது கண்டு அனைவரும் அதிசயித்தனர்! அவ்வளவு உறுதியானது இவரது முருக பக்தி!
பெரியவா இவரைப் பற்றிக் கேள்விப்பட்டு, தம்மை வந்து பார்க்கும்படி சொல்லியனுப்பினார். மும்முரமாக ஒரு எம்ஜியார் படப்பிடிப்பில் இருந்த தேவர் இந்தச் செய்தி கேட்டுத் தயங்கவே, செய்தியறிந்த எம்ஜியார், ‘பெரிய பெரிய ஆளுங்கள்லாம் அவரோட தரிசனத்துக்காகக் காத்துகிட்டு இருக்காங்க. அவரே உங்களைக் கூப்பிட்டு அனுப்பியிருக்கிறார். சற்றும் தாமதியாமல் உடனே சென்று பெரியவரைத் தரிசனம் செய்துவிட்டு வாங்க; அதுவரை நானே முன்நின்று படப்பிடிப்பைக் கவனித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்’ எனச் சொல்லி அனுப்பி வைத்தார். தமது குடும்பத்தருடன் கலவை சென்று பெரியவாளைத் தரிசனம் செய்தார் தேவர். ‘முருகன் உங்க வீட்டுக்குக் காவலாக இருக்கிறார். எதற்கும் கவலைப்படாமல் இருங்கோ’ என ஆசீர்வதித்த பெரியவா, அடுத்து சொன்ன வாக்கியம் அனைவரையும் ஆச்சரியத்துக்குள்ளாக்கியது! ‘முடிஞ்சா உங்க முருகன்கிட்ட என்னைப் பத்தியும் நல்லதா நாலு வார்த்தை சொல்லி வையுங்கோ!’ இதைக் கேட்டதும் சற்றும் தாள முடியாமல் தேவர் கதறி அழுது விட்டாராம்.
திருச்செந்தூரில் கந்த சஷ்டி விழா முடிந்ததும், ஒரு முறை, தேவர் தன்னைச் சுற்றியிருந்தவர்களைப் பார்த்து, ’12 வருஷமா நான் பண்ணிக்கிட்டு இருந்ததை விடாம நீங்கதான் இனிமே செய்யணும்’ எனச் சொல்ல, அனைவரும் அதிர்ந்தனர். ‘ஒரு சஷ்டிலதான் என் உசிரு போகும். அப்படி நடக்கலைன்னா, மேலே போயி முருகனைக் அடிக்காம விட மாட்டேன்’ என அடிக்கடி சொல்லி வருவாராம். அதேபோல, 1978-ம் ஆண்டு செப்டம்பர் மாதம் 8-ம் தேதியன்று இவரது உயிர் பிரிந்தது. ஆம்! அன்று விசாக நக்ஷத்திரம் கூடிய சஷ்டி தினம்!

Extremely moved to read this! Van ThoNdar Chinnappa Thevar! His devotion to Lord Muruga made him say such things and get them sanctioned by Lord Muruga Himself! Great experience to read these interactions. How much must have been the Bhakthi of Thevar that Maha PeriyavaL Himself is telling playfully to recommend Him to Lord Muruga! Thevar broke down and all of us follow him. What a Divine Grace Maha Periyava , who is Lord Swaminatha Himself, displays in bestowing Apaara KaruNai on Thevar and through him, on us all! ஸ்ரீ மகாபெரியவளுக்கு தேவர் மேல் இருந்த மதிப்பு இதன் மூலம் தெரிகிறது. தன்னைப்பற்றி முருகனுக்கு சிபாரிசு செய்ய சொன்னது கண்ணில் நீரை வரவழித்தது . ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாள் அழைத்ததன் மூலம் ஸ்ரீ தேவருக்கு மிகுந்த அநுக்ரகம்கிடைத்தது என்று சொல்லவேண்டும்.கடைசியில் தான் வேண்டியபடியே அவர் மரணம் அடைந்தது முருகன் கருணை. இதை வெளியிட்டமைக்கு நன்றி.
தெய்வ த் திரு கிருபானந்தவாரியார் சுவாமிகள் தன்னைத் திரைப்படத்தில் நடிக்கவைத்தத் திரு தேவரைப் பற்றிக் குறிப்பிடுகையில் ‘ ‘மனிதர்களால் முடியாததைத் தேவர்கள் செய்வார்கள்’ ‘ என்று சிலேடையாகக் கூறினார் .அவர் கூறியதுபோல் திரு தேவர் மனிதராகத் தோன்றிய தேவர் ஆவார் .

என்ன ஒரு பக்தி முருகன் மேல் இருந்தால், ‘மேலே வந்து உன்னை அடிப்பேன்’ என்று முருகனிடமே சொல்ல வேண்டும். உண்மையான பக்தி என்றால் இதுதான்.. எனக்கு நன்றாக நினைவில் உள்ளது. ஆனந்த விகடன் திரு தேவன் அவர்களின் ‘ஸ்ரீமான் சுதர்சனம்’ என்ற நாவலில் ஒரு நிகழ்ச்சி. சுதர்சனம் பலமாகத்தாக்கப்பட்டு உயிருக்கு மன்றாடிக் கொண்டிருப்பான். அவன் தாயார், பெருமாளிடம் வேண்டிக்கொள்வார், ‘ பெருமாளே! நீதான் எம் பிள்ளைக்கு உயிர்ப்பிச்சை தரணும்.. என் பிள்ளை பொழைக்கலேன்னா, உன்னை சோளிங்கர் மலைலேருந்து உருட்டி விட்டுடுவேன்.”
இந்த மாதிரி பகவானிடம் முழு நம்பிக்கை உள்ளவர் நம்மில் எத்தனை பேர்?!
Mahaperiava was the embodiment of pure love and utmost humility. Who else will say, ‘Go and put in a word to Murugan about me” ? If only all of us get one percent of that, the world will be a better place to live in.
